Unfortunate incident, however these things happen and she'll be back in service hopefully sooner rather than later. Green with envy on the West Coast. Happy New Year!
That's absolutely the correct way to view this incident. It's a setback, but not irrecoverable. The time when people fully appreciate what a great boat she is cannot be too far away. Happy New Year
Not broken - damaged by an unfortunate grounding. The dry dock inspection is out of an abundance of caution and entirely understandable in view of her employment
@@Aerosnapper what i heard from the mayor the other day was not precautionary, rather necessary. a temporary patch was placed on the hull. waited on W island for the patch to be approved by transport canada to go to hamilton, where a permant fix will be done, then another transport canada inspection to certify that its safe for the public.
Thanks Mike and Season Greetings! I watched a video on Monday of her going under the Burlington Skyway entering Hamilton Harbour. ( ua-cam.com/video/nirW96GdcT8/v-deo.htmlsi=UjMgtYSxdhJjEuo9 )
And all the best of the Season to you too. Yes, a necessary journey, but a sad one to some extent. Certainly well recorded. Let's all hope that 2025 brings this beautiful boat better fortune and stronger support
I don't think you need be over concerned. The boat is a very capable and well-designed vessel with sister ships serving well elsewhere. Every technological leap forwards, which this certainly represents, brings challenges to adapt and incorporate the changes involved. It's very unfortunate that the supporting infrastructure that would allow her to capitalize on her strengths is not in place - yet. When it is, we will all see a massive positive change.
This is sad and pathetic on so many levels, and just another prime example of the failure of Ministry of Transport and their marine division. The music is perfect...RIP Never in the history of Island ferry service has there been such a lack of service and accountability. I have witnessed a steady decline over the past 2 decades on the Howe Island cable barge . It has suffered from mechanical and staffing issues far too long to be considered reliable. Good luck winning back the confidence of the residents. Merry Christmas and an improved New Year
I'd never seek to limit your free expression, but I think you may be being a little unfair to a very modern vessel produced by a world-leading shipbuilder and operated by highly trained and very professional seamen and women.
I like your videos and appreciate the local flair. I have to disagree with you though on the highly skilled seamen. One of them ran the ferry into the ground. I was responding to the MTO marine division in general though. Having lived on Howe Island for almost 40 years, I have been punished by the collapsing infrastructure, controlled by MTO. Therefore I don’t have much confidence in the overall system.
@@matthiasfiene5350 rumors ive heard from knowing alot of the crew members is that the dredge missed a part of the channel. again purely a rumour though.
Built in Romania and fixed by kanadians...I'm glad we put the smartest people in governments so they can look out for us..also are these going to have to be repaired every year because aren't these new..quality for the dollar I say

What a sad state of affairs. The residents of Wolfe Island certainly deserve better. 🥺
Careful. She's getting closer to those Hamilton blast furnaces.
Getting fewer of those
I think she'll be just fine - and even better when the infrastructure to allow her free rein is in place.
How long does a trip like that take?
2 days or so under tug.
I've done it in less than that in a sail boat.
My understanding was that it would be about a day and a half - so certainly an overnighter.
👍
Broken .. all ready??

It hasn’t been right from day one what a joke

I really hope not but I fear this EV ferry will be a nightmare, sincerely hoping not.

@@Aerosnapper I'm not aware of sister ships. Where are these?

Its not compatible with our grid system
The captain runs her aground then blames the charts.wtf?
I’m not aware that any determination has been made of the reason why the ferry grounded. If you have a source for it, please share it.

Hull damage resulting from grounding has nothing to do with nationality.
