No I have flown quite a bit. Not that many flights on floats though. I have a video of my first float flight with a big cub. The umx is real easy on floats. great plane to learn on.
Yes you can put the floats on and practice on grass and then on water. I have flown a few float planes and it’s not hard. If you’re good on grass then🤟 floats are easy. plus if you do crash it’s pretty cheap to repair or replace.

This just makes everything go smoother. It’s a fun hobby but can be frustrating and a little help goes a long way. Yes I would recommend this for a first plane if your a quick learner. The Aeroscout 1.1m rtf is also a great option. You can see my video of my wife flying hers for the first time. If i wasn’t there to assist she would have crashed a couple times. Also can depend on budget. If money isn’t an issue then I would recommend getting the BNF versions and a NX10 radio. also a spektrum charger that will charge 2 batteries at the same time and 2 or 3 batteries should keep you flying none stop if you can have a place to plug in your charger. If you can’t get someone to help you then a flight simulator is also a great way to get ahead and improve your chances of successful flight. This may sound weird but DO NOT worry about crashes. They suck but it’s all part of the hobby and learning process. Keep a hot glue gun handy and usually they can be repaired in 30-60 mins. A spare prop or 2 are good to have on hand but less likely to break a prop on the scout also making it a good starter plane.

Works amazing still love it. If you get the floats, make sure you put a clearcoat film that you can get . Sticky on one side.
