  • The next installment in our Trombone Maintenance 101 series. Slide creams have been the go-to in the trombone world for many years. While the creams themselves have evolved from the days of cold cream the techniques for using them remain; in this video we demonstrate how we use them in the Trombone Shop!

I was trying to put cream on my slide in some weird way I thought I was shown. Well this way was definitely better and what I will be sticking with from now on. Thank you so much for the tutorial!

This is good to know. I haven't played my trombone in 5 years and tonight the highschool I graduated from us having a alumni for all the band kids that graduated and want to come back and play in the pep band to relive their glory days. I completely forgot how to use trombotine and all that.

Hello Keith! Thanks for the Trombotine tips and I have a few questions please. You suggested to wipe out the inner slide for regular reapplication of Trombotine - but what about the outer slide cleaning at the same time? Why doesn't it need that? The second question is regarding a more thorough regular trombone cleaning - do you have a video for that? How often should a trombobe be thoroughly cleaned?

1: yes it does, slide o mix sheath and rod
2: 3-4 days for oils on slide, week for cream on slide.
      1 month for valves
      1-2 months for tuning slides
