While the historical battle was really bad for the Canadians, the Germans here have several ahistorical advantages. The fact that the Luftwaffe enters but nothing of the RAF is quite confusing, seeing as this was the largest single-day air battle of the war and the RAF did run CAS missions. The German tanks are also confusing as they were several kilometers inland and were not able to make it to the beaches until after the battle. Overall good representation though.

The Dieppe raid consisted of 5,000 Canadians and 50 U.S. Rangers (from what i recall reading). The raid's failure highlighted 3 issues: attacking a heavily defended port would be failure; better air and naval support was needed; no point in attacking directly across the Channel even if its the shortest routes. Hence Overlord corrected all 3 issues (bring your own harbors, bomb and blast the Germans until they were dizzy, attack at the farthest point to throw off the Germans). Even Hitler thought Normandy was a diversion because they expected Patton to attack Pas de la Calais! Well done with this excellent video!

Beautiful! Been to dieppe myself on a backwards trip from vacation in France. I might ask a lot but could you recreate it 1 to 1? With the little details like the sea wall that exposed the Canadians in an L firing arc. The famous pak 40 there and no HE for the Churchills. Dieppe was a beautiful town when I visited it.
