    Thank you Hans for you very useful and informative videos. This is the second time I had come across your videos and I would like to thank you for your very well structured content. In reference to a statement in this video where you had mentioned that the music files/library are kept on the PC or NAS and they should be on all the time for SONOS to be able to access them. I am sure you you are much educated then me and must have only forgotten to mention that these files can be kept on the Router if the Router supports sharing files through USB Stick or external USB Drive. I used this when I did not have NAS at this time nor did I want to keep the PC on full time.
    Thank you for your great videos and take care.
    Best Regards,
    Mohammad

    My English is not that great. You say surround 4:35 that you need a spezific type of kable when you connect the digital outputs of port and external dac, or you lose sound quality. What cable you meen or can you recommend one?
    Thanks

    • @TheHansBeekhuyzenChannel
      @TheHansBeekhuyzenChannel  4 роки тому +1

      For digital connections you need a cable that is suited for the connection used. For the digital output of the Port that is a 75 ohm RCA to RCA cable. Every audio shop sells them and often call then just digital cable.

    Hi Hans, thanks for the review. I read on your page that any questions for advise should be posted on your channel, so here it goes: I am looking to upgrade the sound quality of my setup and think I can gain the most by replacing my current streamer, the sonos zp90. The sonos is currently digitally connected to an Anthem AVR510 (for which I love the room correction). I am using the DAC of the AVR510. I will check if I used digital interlinks ;-). I am not using the amplifying part of the Anthem, as it is connected to an Arcam P777 seven channel amplifier. The Arcam is powering zone A from the Anthem (5.1) and zone B (stereo). The front speakers of Zone A are self built scanspeak speakers, which I were build by Klare in Hoorn. I have multiple sonos connects in my home, so I started looking at the Sonos Magna mod, which you reviewed. I'm not in the market for a EUR 4000,- streamer, but am willing to invest between 1000-2000 EUR for significant quality improvement w.r.t. my source. Anyway, long story and would be great if you could respond! Thanks in advance.

    Hello! Can I pass the audio signal from my turntable to other AirPlay 2 enabled devices without the Sonos app? Do not have Sonos devices so far, but stream directly via iOS from the music app or Tidal. I would like to stream the sound from my record player additionally as a multiroom device throughout the house. Thanks for the help!

    I was hoping to integrate my house Sonos speakers to my hiFi with this but it seems it is pipped by the Bluesound, are there any other streamer DACS that are worth looking at as alternatives? I don't need built in amplification.

      There are many around, see my playlist on network players: ua-cam.com/video/f4FU1tqZdeU/v-deo.html. You can also go for a server program that can work with hardware from a broad range of brands: DLNA or Roon. I explain about DLNA a bit in the review of the Advance Paris WTX StreamPro (ua-cam.com/video/rG-biUayskU/v-deo.html).Many streamers are DNLA compatible, sometimes called UPnP AV compatible. BTW the two brands you mention are not. For Roon you might watch this video. It gives an introduction but it is already a few years old and there have been numerous updates to the system. You find all of my Roon videos in this playlist: ua-cam.com/video/yrRfhWcLoqA/v-deo.html. Roon works with all products that are 'Roon Ready' like the Bluesound products, but Roon also works with Sonos, Airplay and Squeezebox. The way you can select the right product for a given location. A top product for the living and a simple solution for the children's room or garage.

    Nice review of the port. I have one, because I have other sonos players for background music and news in the rest of my house. My family would have mutinied if I put in a different streamer for the main system. I have found that upgrading the power supply, and using an ifi ipurifier spdif 2 helps quite a bit with the quality of its digital output into my ares 2 DAC. I was actually surprised that it all worked as well as it does.

      Sonos has a very stable system and the sound quality of the Port is clearly better than that of its predecessor. But it is not the best, sound wise.

    Beste Hans, Je meent dit toch niet echt dat de Bluesound App is vergelijkbaar met de App van Sonos?! Check de recenties mbt de Bluesound App. Op WiFi zit dat ding continue te schakelen tussen allerlei kanalen. Loopt lekker vast en kan alleen via een harde reset weer tot leven gebracht worden. Thanks. Ko

      @@TheHansBeekhuyzenChannel Zeker vast verbonden. Bij HiFi klubben lagen er een aantal retour. De Sonos heeft op de een of andere wijze een betere streaming. Natuurlijk lagere bi rate, maar op WiFi stabieler. Leuk Hi Bit Rate maar er zijn maar weinig die dat nu kunnen 'uitzenden'. Hangt helemaal af van de opname. Dus beetje overkill waar we over praten soms

    Geachte heer Beekhuizen, beste Hans. Wellicht kunt u mij met het volgende probleem helpen. Ik bezit een Sony LSA i link systeem met analoge radio, cd en md. Vanwege het feit dat Ziggo geen analoge radio meer ondersteund, is er geen radio geluid meer. Ik heb de port aangeschaft om via het Sony systeem digitale radio te kunnen luisteren. Ik heb de port op analoge in van de Sony en analoge out van de port aan gesloten, de app geïnstalleerd, maar helaas komt er geen geluid uit mijn boxen. Enkel de stem van Ziggo die mededeeld dat ze geen analoge radio meer ondersteunen. Wat doe ik fout? Alvast bedankt voor een reactie.

    I always found Sonos Play speakers rather impressive for what they are but 2 things have kept me away from Sonos.
    1) limited to 16/44 and 2) the inability to play multiple genre random playlists. The Squeezebox LMS has been doing that for ages. Get with the program guys.
