i would say this T H I C C OSTKETTEN are bring the new quality of life to panzer 4 chassis.
try to play Nashorn tho you will see what i mean.
All Pz IV's and the Jagd line has them plus the Nashorn I think

Got pissed at 8.7 so loaded german 4.3 and was so confused when the match ended and I could buy ostketten.
I did the exact same thing, i was frustrated with 6.7 so i went to 3.0 with StuH 42 G and i was thinking 'wtf is ostketten'
Bought it, took me a solid 10 seconds but i literally screamed in joy and immediately set out to get ostketten on all my vehicles, currently only Pz. IV J is left bc fuck that pos, its soooooo bad.

One advantage that the Jagdpanzer IV gets over the Hetzer is the increased (from 20mm to 30mm) side armour. This is a significant difference. In the Hetzer you can't angle whatsoever and have to always fully face your enemy. In the Jagdpanzer IV you can try to angle a bit. When angling the worse front armour also partially gets compensated.
Another advantage is the better gun angles. The Hetzer gets -5*/+15* horizontal while the Jagdpanzer IV gets a more comfortable 15* to both sides. This removes the issue the Hetzer has where it's awkward to come around corners on one side.
Sure this isn't enough to make it a whole BR higher, but it's at least some advantages it has.

The Pz. IV F2 looks sick with the wide tracks
When I got these on the Panzer IV (70) I actually noticed a *huge* increase in my off road performance and overall stationary mobility.
i have lately played alot of german stuff and i absolutely fell in love with the
bmp1 ( 9M113 ATGM the upgraded one) and then try and get to the G.91 R/3 with 4!!!!

When you equip Ostketten to a Pz. IV/70 (V) it removes the side skirts, unlike with the Pz. IV H.
Also, this is available for the StuH 42 G, which is a fantastic sort of derp vehicle, which itself pairs very nicely with the Hs-129 and Bf-110 C-6 (nose mounted 30mm with HVAP at 3.0!!)

most vehicles fighted against udssr has this mod now. irl they where there to change the small chains (working good on roads) but then the russia brought the t34 with wide chains go fast in mud and snow so the germans tried to compenside the lack of mobility.

Just went back and played some games just to unlock them.
...god I miss low tier 😥 Hope they also come in for Pz IIIs and something similar for Shermans, who also struggle with terrain sometimes. Very cool upgrade

such an inspiration to get more kills phly,
I had a "friend" moment with a KV-1 ZiS when playing a Panzer IV Ausf. J. He saw me around the corner and my turret ring was stuck to a tree, effectively making it like I was having a thread broke and I struggled for a while to set myself in such a way, that I could topple said tree. Meanwhile, this guy came in and shot me a few times with an mg, and I did so back, but without shooting his main gun in a rhytm. We both went about our business, my team was winning and I let him sneak behind my team and get a few kills, then - later-on, I made a sudden turn without looking and it was the same KV-1 with a T-34 next to him and it was one of those panic moments. Quickly shot the T-34 and waited if the KV was gonna kill me. Nope! Went about our business again :D Then he got killed while fighting an Italian Sherman, but it was fun to have a honorable KV friend.

The new ostketten do actually help mobility on softer ground like sand, mud and snow in the game.
You can only imagine how big is the SU-100Y when you face it, dang man that thing is really BIG
