Axil boasts that their Ghost Strike Extreme Earbuds are the world’s first all-in-one tactical earbuds. This video will go over some good things about the earbuds, as well as several aspects that could be much better. Overall, they aren’t great, and I would not recommend buying them.

If you're looking for a better in-ear BlueTooth option, the Pro Ears Stealth 28 HTBT is MUCH better than AXIL, in my opinion. thewarriorsolution.com/go/proears/stealth_28
Appreciate the honest feedback 👌🏽 was looking into these and it looks like a majority of ppl who have tried them are not impressed or are just straight up disappointed
Yeah, I found the same when I was researching them before buying. I was hoping they were wrong, but sadly I can't recommend them.
I just got the extreme version. Basically what u have. And so far I love em. I also work in Landscaping and they're super legit for that. Haven't tried shooting yet tho.
Good review, spot on. I won't buy another pair, but these will work in our rim fire prs events.
Man am I glad I saw this review! I was seriously considering these because they were being endorsed by one of my more favorite gun personalities, but decided to check around and do some research. Very honest review, your adding of how the audio sounds and everything was great. You also pointed out several things I didn't even think about. The design with how it hangs behind the head and laying on the back would definitely bug the hell out of me, especially when running and gunning in a tactical scenario on the range. On those scenarios where your on your back and having to move around I could see these getting easily unsealed and/or yanked out of the ears. I guess they could be fine if you go to the range just for static shooting, just putting some lead in a target. Definitely a pass for me. Thanks again and you now have a new subscriber.
Right on! Thanks for the sub and feedback! I agree completely.
I keep them on my chest, not behind the neck. They work perfectly fine. I don’t understand why would anyone put them behind your neck. Please, explain why are you putting them behind your neck when they fit perfectly in the front?
@@TimeToBeKind I get what you are saying and have had others of similar design. I often wear body armor or tactical vests and they get hung up on these things, the earbuds tend to come unseated especially when doing tac scenarios with a lot of head movement the swinging wire becomes very annoying and once again some ground shooting scenarios it just gets in the way. I'm not saying they are terrible, I'm sure they are fine for what they are designed to do, but I'm just saying they don't seem to be what I would need for some of the more active shooting scenarios.
I bought before I read.
That intro deserve more credit 🙌🏾 awesome video man ‼️
Glad you liked it!
I have a pair and use them to shoot IDPA. I find them to work really well and they meet my expectations for the price point. Mine came with a clip to attach the wire to the back of your shirt. Once clipped in place I didn’t notice them at all. I’m losing my hearing so enjoy the amplification to be able to hear conversations and range commands. I found the volume set at about 25% was perfect for me and at that volume the quality of sound was great. Putting the volume to max like demonstrated here did cause distortion, loss of bass, feedback and was so loud as to cause pain. I can’t imagine anyone wanting the volume that high. I was very impressed with the battery life. I had no problems with them lasting for 5 hours on straight. After I got home and plugged them in to charge they fully charged in about 30 minutes. Perhaps mine are an improved version. I purchased mine in February 2021.
Added note: I tried them with a 3 gun match over the weekend. These do not hold up well with short barreled ARs with compensators. My ears were ringing. Shotguns seemed ok. My bottom line is they are good for outdoor IDPA matches. I’ll report back on indoor.
Yeah they just don't seal well for me. Thanks for the detailed feedback!
I keep them on my chest, not behind the neck. They work perfectly fine. I don’t understand why would anyone put them behind your neck. Please, explain why are you putting them behind your neck when they fit perfectly in the front?
Yes, I'm finding the same results you have. I find they come lose and don't seal well and I'm fighting to push them back in all day long. I bought 2 pair we I got them for a buddy and I, we both are having the same results.
I had a set of the original ghost strike that I used for 2 years before they ended up failing. So replaced with the extreme.
I'm disappointed with the extreme. They don't seat deep enough in my ear to seal well. Had to order large size tips as well. Still won't seal properly. The over the ear style bothers the top where they sit, get irritated some. Could be where my glasses move around on top. The volume at its lowest level is just to high for me as well.
Have ordered another brand at this point.
I have the original ones. I got them on sale. I actually enjoy them very much. I like it more than the big bulky headsets.
Thanks for your review. One question, why don't you run the wire around on your throat (front) rather than the neck if the wires and switches/battery is affecting you, did you try that? They'll be easier to reach and control there. don't know if you wear stuff that they could catch on to in front though.
maraming salamat po!!! MABUHAY!!!
I have a set of these. They have some cool features and they will get some use. But I agree with the fact that they need some improvement. They were a little expensive compared against other products and sound quality. I do like the fact that they will pick up my voice and I can even voice text accurately. Also, like the ambient noise amplification in certain environments as I do have some hearing damage spending so much time on the range and working noisy environments. I understand they have a wireless available right now. It’s an additional hundred dollars more expensive and I’m curious about it. If you learn about those share.
Solid review Brother. I really want some in-ear electronic ear pro but haven't decided on which one. These specifically, I know I wouldn't want a cord attaching the two buds and running down my back. I guess the search continues.
#RobbArmstrong
Thanks Jeremy! Your review was one of the ones that convinced me to try two pair. At first I was a little disappointed at the sound reduction in both off and the active mode. Then I read the instructions and put them in correctly. Sound suppression is excellent now in both passive and active modes. The wire in back annoys you? Did you try cinching it up tight and let the wire be on the back of your head or even let it drop in front? I shoot some German fas with semi packs for the Steel Challange because any slimline headgear get in my way on the MP5 collapsible stock.
Good info, what would recommend over this
Thank you. I was just going to place an order. What do you recommend for in ear shooting earbuds?
I keep them on my chest, not behind the neck. They work perfectly fine. I don’t understand why would anyone put them behind your neck.
I bought the Otto Noize Barriers. Check those out. No Bluetooth connectivity, but excellent hearing protection. I replaced the foam ear inserts with Comply brand foam inserts!
I'd love to check out Otto vs Axil. The limiting factor at the moment is cash...
@@TheWarriorSolution I understand. I purchased my Noize Barriers with my PayPal. Zero interest if paid off in six months.

AWESOME review and honest with humility... HURA Brother...y'all suggest something much better? I got a pair at Walmart so I could hear better...what can I get? Veteran who needs everything because he lost everything... building up again...by myself...
Hey Brandon, thanks for the comment! Some other options if you're trying to go fully wireless would be:
Walker's Silencer BT 2.0 Smartphone Controlled Wireless Earbuds: amzn.to/3fiAggA
Walker’s Silencer BT Wireless Earbuds: amzn.to/3ffksLF
OTTO Engineering NoizeBarrior Wireless Earbuds: amzn.to/3d83cVT
3M PELTOR EEP-100 Rechargeable Ear Plug Kit: amzn.to/3vZslKZ
Since filming this video, I'm now an affiliate for Axil so I'll be able to check out some of their other products that might work better.
Thanks for your honest opinion and research. Like you said, the idea of hearing protection in a small compact, doesn’t get in the way, unit is needed. Muffs are bulky, but get pushed by the butt of the rifle. I like wearing a hat, but can’t, because the muffs headband gets in the way. Once they get everything right, it will be a big seller. I hope they do. Until then, I’ll keep the bulky ear muffs.
Thanks for the review
@9:24 what are the better options out there that you speak of… that have Bluetooth, noise canceling & hearing magnification?
-I’ve been searching and these are the only ones that keep popping up.
I'm currently editing a video of Pro Ears Stealth 28 HTBT vs these Axil GS Extreme. The Pro Ears are WAY better in every way. thewarriorsolution.com/go/proears/stealth_28
Low bass 🔊 can travel and reverberate. I can see where noise canceling would have issues
Hey bud, would you consider comparing this to the ISOtunes Sport Advance? They look identical and claim the same things as the Axil GS extreme
I actually wasn't aware of the ISOtunes Sport Advance until you mentioned them. Looking at their site, they do look a lot like the Axils... Possibly made in the same factory in China?
@@TheWarriorSolution Thanks for getting back to me! That's exactly what I was thinking, and if so, I'd rather shell out for some Walkers.
Thanks man you saved me some $$$
No problem 👍
Thanks for the review. Competed in PSA today. Shotgun stock kept breaking the seal on my headphones. Need a better solution. Looks like these are not it.
Thanks for the comment. Axil just came out with a new 2.0 version of these which are supposedly much better, but I haven't personally had the chance to test them yet. Might be worth looking into anyway.
Thank you i was looking for honest feedback
No problem 👍
I keep them on my chest, not behind the neck. They work perfectly fine. I don’t understand why would anyone put them behind your neck. Please, explain why are you putting them behind your neck when they fit perfectly in the front?
I have 2 sets. I use them, I have had good luck with mine. I use the controls in the front, not the back. I bought them to teach and train others and to be able to communicate with those taking my class. Works great for me.
Thx for the honest review.
Always!
so what products would you recommend in its place? earbuds that are enhancing/protecting
dont even need to have bluetooth
I've actually found Samsung Galaxy Buds Plus to be awesome, not only for shooting, but as wireless ear buds too. They amplify sound, cancel loud sounds, work perfectly, sound great, charge in their own case, and they are under $100 now. Can't really go wrong, even though they are marketed as hearing protection, they work just as well in my opinion.
@@TheWarriorSolution really? only IPX2 isnt great for outdoor weather. what NRR are they?
Great review, although I thought you were generous with the stars. I’ve found them to be extremely disappointing.
Yeah, I went back and fourth on exactly how low to rate them. They have a new "2.0" version that supposedly addresses most of the issues, but we'll see. In the meantime, I've found Pro Ears' in ear options to be way better than Axil and similarly priced.
Where does the packaging say they're made?? I can get them fairly cheap but I'll be dam if I send another dollar outside this country.
I'm about 90% sure they are made in China.
Mine suck. The Bluetooth sucks, noise canceling doesn’t work well in the wind. Noise reduction was not that great.
With them being bluetooth, havong a wire seems kinda mucked up,why cant they be like normal earbuds & controlled from your phone,if they automatically work against anything over 85 db's. A wire to work the controls are really confusing since my earbuds do everything wirelessly.
Exactly! One of the reasons I don't like them.
You would not get the longer battery life without the cords, Apple's totally wireless pods last less than 4 hours and cost 3x as much.My JVC version lasts 24 hours of playing music. I recharge them once or twice a week, only thing they don't do is hearing amplification
What are the better options?
I haven't had a chance to try anything better yet, but just looking around online it looks like Walker has a totally wireless earbud option. Otto also makes a wireless earbud for shooting that looks pretty good, but it's a bit more expensive. I don't want to point you in the wrong direction though, so I can't be 100% sure about any other options at the moment. I'm currently working on getting several other types of ear pro from various manufactures to be able to put together a video for what the best options are and why.
Wished I would of seen your video before I bought a pair. All your comments are the same as mine.
Mission failed, we'll get em next time.
Hahaha all your issues aren’t issues for me. It took time to find the right set up for shooting. There’s a clip and a thing that slides to keep it from moving too much.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
coolest intro on youtube !
Thanks man, I appreciate it!
They include something to attach the back of it to your shirt so it doesn't move around just an fyi
Yeah, the other reason I don't like them hanging down the back of my neck is that they get hung up on my rifle sling.
Old video I know.. but try wearing in front it your neck. With them pulled up tight with the little clip thing and the excess loop tucked in the front of your shirt. So much more comfortable without having hanging wires. Plus my beard completely hides both the controls lol
I'm actually about to release another video with these VS Pro Ears Stealth 28. Those are WAY better options and don't have any dangly bits to worry about. If you look at AXIL's marketing and images for these, everyone has the cords behind their heads... Although wearing them in the front is an option, there are better solutions out there than that, in my opinion. If you like yours and they are working fine for you, awesome.
Just watched the rest of your vid. Did you really expect perfect low-frequency output of a radio or audio system, for $100.00.
I don't expect perfection, but for $200 they should sound way better than they do. Howard Leight muffs crush these across the board and they are a quarter of the cost. I don't mind paying for high quality, but $200 for these is hot garbage.
Are these the 2.0
No, they are the original 1.0 version. Supposedly, the 2.0s addressed a lot of the issues I had with these, but I haven't had the chance to test them in person yet.
@@TheWarriorSolution thanks! I just ordered them and should get them next week sometime.
I was totally disappointed way too much white noise pure hype I won’t try them for shooting my hearing is was too important
The reviews on their own website are mixed. Not too sure about these.
I would highly recommend passing on Axil and going with Pro Ears Stealth 28 HTBT instead. I just got a set to test out from them that is a similar in ear, low profile design, but the audio is 100% better and the stupid dangly bit is held nicely in place at the back of your head rather than around your neck where slings and such can catch it. Here's a link for it: www.avantlink.com/click.php?tt=cl&merchant_id=d96b7db2-6d19-4958-8003-179a29eb66b1&website_id=62df7f0e-6c0f-4d34-a9a5-d6a46acdefb3&url=https%3A%2F%2Fproears.com%2Fproduct%2Fstealth-28-htbt%2F
I tried using these 5 times, then they've sat in a drawer for 2 years. They catch on everything, they cord's not long enough and they don't stay in. I'm kinda pissed I paig $200 for them.
I tried to warn you... =o
3:07 as the shoulder rifles 😂
Is there a single review of these where they dont get sales kickbacks?
I haven't made a dime from Axil sales. I wasn't affiliated with them when I made this video, and I wasn't affiliated with them for several months after it was out. I'd be surprised if they kept me around as an affiliate because I have yet to say anything positive about their products. I can't speak for anyone else, obviously, but I personally wouldn't recommend Axil stuff right now. I haven't tested the new 2.0 version of the GS Extremes though.
@@TheWarriorSolution why post the link champ
Because some people still want to buy them for whatever reason.
The 2.0 is way better basically fixed what you had issues with
I've heard about the new 2.0 version, just need to get my hands on a set to test out. I'll be releasing a video on Axil's Tracker Blu muffs here in the next couple of weeks.
I think he got a lemon pair
That could be the case, but Axil sent out a second pair about eight months after I made this video. Those are equally bad... There is a brand new 2.0 version out that is supposed to be better in every way, but I haven't had the chance to get hands on with them yet.
Does he realize the neck part can go in front?
Not really... The shape of the ear bud wires is pretty limiting and going in front would just cause a lot of pressure on your throat and then get stuck on the front of your shirt vs the back. No thanks.
Do not buy the “GS Custom” i just got some and am sending them back. For $700+ there was a ton of static in the hearing enhancement. They come from a mold of your ear canal and mine didn’t nearly seal my canal. Foam tips do a better job. Music and voice sounded horrible. I don’t mind the cable but i think so little of the customs that I refuse to even try these that he is reviewing.
Thanks for sharing. I was curious if their higher end stuff was any better. I'm working on a review of their Bluetooth muffs as well. Basically the same story. Blown out audio, very poor quality.
@@TheWarriorSolution crazy the hype they’re getting for how poor quality they are. Apparently they are a hearing aid company, can’t imagine how terrible their aids are. Should of went right for the Tetra’s.
Short review, I received a pair as a gift from my sister, these things suck ass!. For the money she paid I can buy a lot of foam earplugs, save money, and save my hearing. Definitely do not buy these!
I tried to warn you! haha Pro Ears has a much better in ear Bluetooth solution. Check out their Stealth 28 HTBT alnk.to/6xGOHoR (video coming soon) They are also currently running a 30% off sale for their 30th anniversary.
I dont get why anyone would be interested in earbuds without a wire loop. Your paying a lot of money for battery capacity in a tiny form factor, just so you can have itty bitty expensive ear pro that will be fragile and incredibly easy to lose in the field or in any kind of intense scenario.
literally useless for anything but basics on the flat range.
Im never buying little hundred dollar ear beans for shooting. That just doesn't make sense on any practical level.
