I agree with you 100% it should default out of the case to hearing protection That's the reason I purchased them. I'm 70 years old I'd like to have what hearing that I've got left thanks for your honest review.
Hopefully they can either make the Default Earing Protection, or even better... Give US the choice via the Settings.
People are confusing hearing enhancement with hearing protection...they are NOT the same. They DO default to hearing protection...they do NOT default to hearing enhancement. The electronics are completely unnecessary for hearing protection. When the battery is drained and they power down, you STILL have hearing protection...you just don't have hearing enhancement or bluetooth anymore.
Hearing protection is always on. When it says sound on its the pass through sound, you can hear people talking but still cancel out loud noise. So, on or off, they still work as hearing protection. Even with a dead battery.
I'm glad I came across your video because I could not for the life of me figure out how to use them strictly for shooting. The instructions tell you to long press the button vs the side. Good vides.
I bought a set without blue tooth and wore them for ten days at the national matches a couple weeks ago. they cause ear pain after about 2 hours of continued use. the small foam inserts were too small and the medium caused pain. I even used ear plug lube, not much better. The Domes felt better but they don't reduce noise as much and are not recommended for shoot, as per instructions.
Thank you for the video. Do you recommend the non-Bluetooth version?
From what I understand is that in the video when you are referring to "Hearing protection mode" what you're actually talking about is the Hearing Enhancement mode.
There is no "Hearing protection mode"
The same way that Electronic Walker Razors or Impact Sports don't have a "Hearing protection mode". The "Hearing protection mode" is just when they are over your ears, or in the case of the XCOR, in your ears.
What you refer to as the "Hearing protection mode" is actually the Hearing Enhancement mode, it just activates the microphones on the earbuds allowing sounds of a safe level to pass through and be amplified while it also is auto gating and not amplifying any sounds louder than whatever the set DB limit is.
Thank you so much for explaining how to turn on protection. It was not clear, and I really thought these were broken.
I agree, I wish the BT didn’t turn on automatically, would rather have the sound protection, sound on first. I do like them, much better than the electronic earmuffs, no bulk.
"Got a little dizzy", too funny. Thanks for the review.
Great review! For large caliber or indoor range, do they fit comfortably under earmuffs? Thanks so much!
Yup i agree with you. Safety should be a default. It should be a sound on default.
I've shot .308 and .338 Lapua Magnum and never had any issue with these or with any other AXILs I have. This could be because of the difference in people's ears. So I'd take that with a grain of salt.
Thanks for that. I've been shooting my 308 more as of late without issues
Outstanding video brother!!! You still liking those earbuds?
Thanks for this. Been considering some ear bud options.
I like em thus far and they definitely stay in place during strenuous activity.
Thanks for the honest review!
@@andrewmconrad Do they still stick in your ear 4 months later? Would you use these for actual combat situation? My only concern with earbuds is them falling out haha
@wcsdiaries combat? Never faced with that situation. If I'm going into combat I hopefully have a helmet with some nods and ear pro attached to it
BUYER BEWARE!
I purchased these back in October both for shooting and gym use. I've had to get 2 replacement pairs of the XCOR due to the bluetooth only working on one ear bud only after a short period of time. I've yet to take them shooting so I cannot speak on their efficiency but what I can speak on is the quality of the earbuds in general. After a couple phone calls with their awesome customer service we've concluded that the problem was overcharging and that I should only use the USB-C with a standard wall block charger. I was using my desktop computer to charge them and would leave them plugged in for days on end. They've suggested that I only use the wall plug + USB-C and to not use any other means of charging including car/truck chargers. I'm a bit disappointed to hear about the 308 being a bit loud for them seeing as that's all I shoot atm, will have to try this out myself.
Other than this minor hiccup they're awesome.
All this stuff is talking about them for shooting but how are they in like a factory environment.
I'm trialing these while at work in a manufacturing environment. Sound off and using them as Bluetooth for music. Sound on is tough because of all the feedback from equipment etc.
Thanks for the review. Just picked them up for 199.99!
Hows your experience overall?
Do you think these would work well on a construction site when you have load noises on occasion but still be able to hear people talking or other noise you would hear ?
Yes
That's what I'm getting them for, haven't gotten them yet though
Great point about default protection
So do these allow pass through when it shooting for easy talking. Do es the noise canceling just come on for the shot I guess is what I’m asking.
Finally an unpaid review!! Thank you sir
could you do a comparison of these against ISOtunes Free 2.0
I just got mine and I haven't taken them out to the rang yet. Wanted to make sure I knew how they worked, I didn't know you had to turn it to the "sound on" setting in order to have the hearing protection. The instructions weren't very clear on that, so thanks for posting this review!
He’s actually got this backwards. “Sound on” means “pass through” mode.
How do you know if they are charging?
What brand of over the ear protection would you recommend for a newbie? Does not have to be this style. I do see this brand has an over the ear style. Have you tried it?
Sordins
Have you used them in an indoor range? Wondering if they would be OK for that
This is the question I also want answered
I have not. Ever since starting to shoot outdoors, I have no desire to shoot indoors
@@andrewmconrad I bet. Thanks for the response.
I use mine indoors all the time. Work great for it. Make sure they are seated really tight in your ears. When u tilt your head around if they aren’t tight you will get a good dose of the noise from firearms discharged beside you in close proximity.
Double up indoors
What do you think about charging the case ? Let it go completely dead and recharge….charge them frequently ?
I wouldn't let them go completely dead. I would charge them after a few hours of use or prolonged inactivty
@@andrewmconrad great review. Appreciate it.

Hearing protection is always on. Sound on just lets you hear ambient noises like other ppl talking. Just like any electronic ear pro, you need to turn that feature on. Your complaint makes no sense.
Any issues with wind noise or a general constant hiss?
No issues in that respect
@@andrewmconrad cool, thank you.
I just got mine and found the directions very vague. I am hoping to see how the hearing enhancement is operated. I work in environment that has a lot of constant background noise making it hard to hear people talking. Yelling is so tiresome.
That's quite a bit of cheddar for ear buds that kind of work for 308 and above.
I agree about the 308 part. Nevertheless, I still think they're a good ear bud for what I do regularly.
In stead of saying Gym Use maybe just say " Listening to Music".... Good review !!
What about volume???
Volume is good. Was able to have easy conversations with them in hearing mode. Music mode is fine as well, but I have Bose soundsports for working out and running
Thank you for the info and feed back.@@andrewmconrad
On sale now for $150 for Memorial Day 2024
Case reminds me of Jabra (sp?) ear buds
Sounds about right
Both Your rifles were pointed at the crowd.. bouncing around while running.. glad that doesn't have an alternate ending for you..
I noticed that too but due to the activity itself and the cargo I do not see a way they can correct that (maybe crossing the rifles in the opposite direction so they point to the floor but not sure if that'd work) maybe just keeping them at the end line of any obstacle that compromises carry and pick them back right there for whatever shooting drill is next.
Just received these today. They are horrible. Can barely hear incoming call notifications including ringtone. Hearing enhancement only enhances static noise. Very uncomfortable. Didn’t take to the range because I sent a refund email to Axil 4 hours after receiving them. $40 value at best. I appreciate the concept, but the quality isn’t there. Way too much money for what you actually get. I never give reviews good or bad, but this was warranted. Don’t waste your time or money.
I have to disagree with you. I have a pair and have no issues at all. Maybe you got a bad pair. I love mine and they work flawlessly.
Not impressed with mine. First time out 9mm and said nope. Ear muffs
$199 ATM
Nice review. You’re becoming a bad influence…..😅
😂 buy once cry once. I hate junk.
