I’m also born and raised in Chicago. My family also identifies with specifically, cornbread dressing. I see stuffing as made with cubes from regular bread loaves. 🤷🏽♀️
Dressing is new to the black community. Traditionally we stuff the bird with the dressing. Now people refuse to put the dressing in the Turkey but prepare it separately. In my opinion, dressing is dry, stuffing is rich because it cooks with the bird, all the juices, butter and seasoning. Yum!
Dressing is not New to the black community. Most African Americans have enjoyed dressing for hundreds of years. I've never attended a Thanksgiving dinner without dressing. Have you seen Thanksgiving movies? Dressing on the table

My Thanksgiving is baking a Turkey. It has a pop up plastic thing that will pop up when done. Mashed potatoes with gravy, some sweet potatoes. Green bean casserole, a fruit salad, biscuits. Sometimes a veggie tray. Pumpkin Cherry Apple pie(s).
I was smiling from the beginning like Dustin my cheeks hurt. The food looks amazing and thanks for sharing! I agree that carrots do not belong in a cake🙌🏾
Of all things I noticed the Haverty’s furniture in the dining area at your parent !!!! My absolute favorite furniture store. Beautiful family. Just found you guys. Fun watching you grow in this new relationship and during COVID.
The only difference between dressing and stuffing is how it's cooked - stuffed inside or cooked as a side dish to "dress" the meat/turkey. I'm black and the only reason I don't do stuffing is because I like it cooked separately so it crisps up on the top.

Lol dressing & stuffing to most of us are the same thing and there are many variations, including some with cranberries, apples, etc. Just like "...bake" and cassarole is typically the same thing (tuna bake/tuna cassarole). Correction from my previous comment. Dressing, in Houston, TX is made with CORNBREAD, and stuffing with bread (ie. white bread, sourdough). Sorry for the redundancy.

My mom stopped stuffing the turkey and just baked it in a casserole dish and I’ve never stuffed a turkey. Had my first deep fried bird some yrs. back and it was superb. Have a safe week.

I first thought someone hijacked your channel as a fan channel. I do not understand this idea of cooking a large feast on the same day you intend to eat it and enjoy the company around it. Yes we eat pretty much everything of the traditional feast of the bird, with all of the trimmings: cornbread dressing, macaroni/cheese, greens, green beans, sweet potatoes, pies, cakes, rolls, etc.
