Parents really need to be involved with their children behavioral issues. Teachers are seriously under appreciated. They should be treated the best by government and parents. They handle what parents can't or refuse to handle, cos it's draining on them. Teachers need to be highly highly appreciated and encouraged by society as a whole.

This is my 34th year. I have stories as well but I think Dustin wins with his epic tales. Most of the times I can deal with an unruly child however a disrespectful parent can make your year challenging. Happy teacher appreciation week to both of you. Summer break is almost here!!!

Am really sorry Justin for all they go through sadly kids are not trained properly in america its very sad. A child can abuse an adult and the adult should not fight back, this is so bad. I hope lawmakers see what they have caused on the schools. Children with mental issues should not be in class with other children, why only the mentally challenged students have rights sad sad sad

Dustin,KEANNA as a former teachers aide I already know what you teachers deal with when you have problem kids in your classrooms..I’ve seen things first hand..as an aide ..and in helping my teacher get thru some challenges as well .. I was commissioned to chase a kid who ran out of the classroom and to no avail couldn’t find the child..my teacher who had taught for years just couldn’t deal anymore w/problems such as that..TEACHERS DON’T GET PAID ENOUGH..and most definitely they need to be APPRECIATED EVERY SINGLE DAY OF THE WEEK..DUSTIN..You deserve a Medal for being a caring dedicated teacher for enduring all that in your career..You definitely would be a great administrator in Education for all of your experiences..Keep On Keeping Your Eyes On The Prize❤❤❤😊

I realized early in my teaching career that students who exhibit extreme behavior at school often do so because school is the place where they can release the frustration and rage that they feel about situations outside of school, because no one at school is going to hit/beat or severely punish them for doing it. School is their safe place to get those feelings out. It’s hard and frustrating for the teacher who experiences it. I’ve been there for most of my 25 years in education.

sounds like many of these kids have issues/trauma in their home life. Too many parents don't realize their responsibility in caring for their own children has a great influence in their child's education and how they deal with day to day life situations.

I only worked as a English teacher for one year in elementary school. My contract was of yearly basis and didn't have a say of where I would teach the next year. That year for being the first time was actually fine. But at nearly the end of the year I was sent to see a junior high classroom, since it's where my next teaching would be. I'm short at 5 ft 6 in tall and nearly all of the students were my height and more. The other thing I saw was how confrontational they were with their current teacher, even though she handled it well. Long story short I decided to not teach again, and never did after that.

Kudos to all teachers! I don’t know why you are still so under appreciated and underpaid. I use to dream of becoming a History teacher but life happened and destiny took me in a different direction which I totally appreciate because I don’t have the patience to deal with disruptive or disrespectful children. I worked in NYC School Board as a Food Service Manager for two year in three different school districts and often saw incidents that showed me God’s grace for the change in career plans. I hope someone would think of granting teachers COMBAT PAY given the daily stress exposure.
    Thanks for your Service!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Wow Dustin you have had your share of drama.. I retired from teaching pre-k after 33 years and imagine the same situation but with four and five year olds... I kid you NOT... There was one little boy I will never forget ... After destroying the entire class room.... It took three grown ladies to calm him down... And we were pretty big ladies😮..He was three at the time and about 4 years later when he was 7 or 8 we saw him on the news.. He had jumped out of his Aunt's car and was running down the busy highway... I felt so bad because obviously the system had failed him... I don't know what became of him but that was in my 3rd or 4th year of teaching... So that is why I stayed so long... For the kids... I am proud of you both for what you do... And I support you for what you do... But the truth is there if you believe this old gal or not... Make right right again and wrong wrong again!! Don't believe a lie and stop the madness and confusion😢❤ Love them enough to tell them the truth.... 🙏🪅💞 Praying for you guys always teach the masses📝💕🎓

Their needs to be consequences for these children and parents. Because these kids will think twice about their reaction because the school tolerates the bad behavior. Even bringing in Security Guards might make a difference in these classrooms. For every action their is a reaction. I have even tried some of these theories and they even work on Special Needs kids. When they are treated like regular kid's they start to assimilate like the other kids.
