- Hey Horse Lovers! In today's video we are going to spend time with my amazing horse Zazu. Zazu is a 13 year old, Buckskin Tobiano. He is a Spotted Saddle Horse and he is indeed gaited. In this video we will groom, tack up, and ride Zazu. You will get to know him better in this video and I will talk about all of the things Zazu likes to do and show you his sweet personality. WHAT DOES GAITED MEAN?!
What is a gaited horse? A gaited horse is a horse that moves each leg independently. Doing so allows one foot to constantly be on the ground, allowing the horse to conserve more energy than they would while trotting. Gaited horses are used for traveling as they have greater stamina and endurance. To put it simply a gaited horse, moves like a regular horse does at a walk, it places all four feet down independently, the difference is in the upper speeds, the next speed for a trotting horse is a trot, and for a gaited horse it is just a faster walk, and some gaited horses can walk so fast that even the trotting.

I'm so happy we got a video dedicated to Zazu! He's so sweet and laid back. He doesn't seem to have a care in the world. Watching him move, it's like he's floating! He's so smooth and willing to do what's asked of him. 10/10 best boy. ❤

Absolutely a Sweet horse that one can enjoy! I’ve ridden a trotter horse that was turned into riding teaching! Was the hardest riding horse I every rode! Not comfortable at all!

I did not realize that Zazu was short and stocky, my kind of horse. He is so laid back, loves being groomed and seems great to go on a ride to unwind.
Zazu looks like he was born ready for anything in the arena. Guy is cooler than a cucumber.
Horseback riding is a unique art to learn, since your instructor is away at a distance, and your actual teacher is under you and has its own mind and agenda for the day, but won’t tell you either of those things in English.

Edit, I was trying to remember the Disney Whinnie The Pooh movie and the donkey's name that Zazu kind of reminds me of, Eyor! Those eyes and how just completely calm he is. Lol so sweet.

It's deceptive, how 'sleepy' he appears... but is a talented Lead horse on trail rides. I suppose they tend to do well at what they love to do, just like us!

Zazu is an amazing old soul - look at those eyes. Shea, every video just shows the beautiful, trusting relationship and bond your animals have with you - each and every one. Our fur babies really are mirrors of who loves them!

I know. If I just tie my Morgan up in the stall to groom her, no change in location, my saddlebred in her stall next to Morgan, she goes crazy. I envy Shae so much w her kind laid back horses. No amount of training can fix my saddlebred!!! Lol. Still love her!!!❤️

He is an amazing horse. What an honor it is to see you care for him and all your beloved horses. He to has qualities like insane levels of kindness, he has the noble spirit... he is a Knight of the round table.. he is what is not often seen a gift.. with horse mates and humanity!! Every video, with each different horse, it is extremely evident the bond that you build with each horse and the love and affection they have in return for you! You are blessed to have that magical love with each of your horses!

He’s really a wonderful, well mannered with beautiful colors horse! 🥰 Love bug! What I noticed is Lummi is getting to see the rest of the herd and you working with them. That alone is wonderful for all of them! Nice! 😊😉

i really appreciate how much time you take with the grooming of your horses before the tutorial; it's such a herd bonding experience and wonderful to see. Thank you for reminding us of what is the heart and soul of the equine/human relationship. PS when you talk about how rewarding it is to ride a horse you can trust and feel comfortable with, i'm sure they feel the same way about you; it's golden.

I totally understand that when riding a gaited horse it's a very smooth ride (less bounce) but I've seen you ride lot's of different horses and I have to tell you Shae, you sit a horse beautifully ☺️, and I don't mean like practice makes perfect, you have a God given talent, and I'm absolutely in awe, watching you ride. Somehow I missed this one and watched paddock shenanigans first. Noticed him as gaited in that video. So this is the fella! He's cute. I appreciate the bitless bridle fitting. His head is much like my Paso and it helped me see, my bridle fits.

In glad you said your keeping ZaZu. We get attached to your horses too, and when you sell one I cry too.😢 if you sell Ezzy or Belle, oh boy Waterworks. I used to 3 day event in my youth and Belle would be my girl. I'm on disability mow, I lost most of my eyesight but I can see you on my eye pad. And I check up on my horses(I know their your, I'm blind not crazy) while I'm having my morning coffee. I have a ride vicariously threw you.😊
The horse I had my lessons on years ago was called Ryan he was a strawberry roan and he had the most gorgeous canter zazu reminds me of him, very chilled and comfortable lol

It was a joy to come along with you! I just love Zazu. His calmness, gentleness and his great mind. Of course he is gaited as well and beautiful. The perfect package for sure with this sweet boy! I am glad you love him so much and he is doing so well with you and in the lesson program.
Zazu is the type of horse who I would love to have! A snuggly boy a nice gentle ride. I would only do trail riding- nothing fancy. So he sounds absolutely perfect 🤩
But I will never be able to have a horse😢 too expensive and I have to live in the big city because of my husband work.

What a sweetheart! Zazu is so chill & and calm, and I would think that it is so nice to have him when your mission is to train young horses & find them good homes. Zazu will be there for you when you need to unwind & just ride.
He is a fantastic horse. Your husband needs one like him, only a couple hands bigger. Breed and color don't matter to me, it's the ride and personality. Mostly due to back, shoulders, and knee surgeries, I've stuck to Walkers as they were the predominant gaited horse in my area. The only problem I've had with them is alot of them founder easily and they can tear up a grazing muzzle in a heartbeat quicker than you can put it on them. It doesn't matter the style, price or how many straps etc you have on it. They can rein and due alot of things Quarter horses do, but those that do start getting big muscles in their legs, rump and etc, that you don't normally see in the breed.
