I used to install these professionally, and the crack in the tarpad, is nothing to worry about,,,theyre putty like, pliable,,,,the purpose of them, as you stated, is to create a water tite seal, where the hole, from the lag bolt, enters your roof,,,by compression,,,and your installation came out perfect, as the tar pad, oozing, along edges, shows,,,,,it did its job, and very straight forward,,,,being a ham radio op,,,I have an antenna farm,,,with these tripods, holding, lighter dipole, antennas, and scanner antennas,,,,for the price, they last forever when installed right,,,are easy to install,,,and totally functional, for a wide assortment, of uses,,and you can add masts, for height,,,,,,,great vid,,,,😎
Great information for those who want to install tv antennas on a tripod mount. Best thing to do though is drill a entrance and exit hole in the mast and thread the RG 6 cable inside the mast itself. Makes for a much more neater instellation and you can always add two other tv antennas on the mast, running the cables to the side of the house dressing the wires neatly down to either a basement three way splitter grounding the splitter on a cold water pipe, and double grounding the line again with a ground block then into a 4 way signal distribution amplifier to feed 4 tv sets.
Nope. Very accurate. If you look at a roof on a hot day you see the thermals just a few feet above it. With even the smallest breeze I find its enough to be pretty accurate.
@@lizardofozz88 dosen't show where a good 60mph gust takes that stand , antenna and a few shingles 3 houses down . Rest assured . Definitely need dedicated rafters !
@@DynoDieselWagon Highest wind gust has been 49 mph and its still up there. I've not had any wind events to cause shingle damage. If there ever is I'll have bigger problems.

No leaks and 3 years since install!

You need to run a grounding wire from the tower to the ground.

Thank you for sharing, very useful.
Wouldn't a roof top mount lead to inaccurate temperature reading due to the shingles?
Nope. Very accurate. If you look at a roof on a hot day you see the thermals just a few feet above it. With even the smallest breeze I find its enough to be pretty accurate.
That mount should be able to handle a 5 pound CB antenna you think
Do you have to detect to find roof rafters?
Nope. Going through shingles and 1/2" OSB sheeting is more than enough. I have had zero issues.
@@lizardofozz88 Thanks.

Should it be grounded?
Indeed it should be grounded. Never take a chance when lightning is involved.
Are u going into the truses
No. Through shingles and sheeting.
It needs to be more tight
Hi Tanner. What needs to be more tight?
which mast did you use?
The mast sold by ambient weather.
Are you a roofer? I'd like to see how a roofer does this..
Try out the Tempest Stations from WeatherFlow. All in one with no moving parts.
But no indoor display

Why not just get a antenna pole....or do it the hardware I guess
Any leaks ???
No leaks 3 years in.
