  • HOT OFF THE HEELS OF OUR LAST #BREWWITHUS PROJECT...
This week, we’re back with another incredible story, this time featuring Martin from Maverick Brew Co.
Maverick has been commercially brewing for just over 18 months, after Martin’s 15-year home brewing journey filled with passion, competition wins, and honing his craft. His mission? To create beers of the highest quality across a diverse range of styles. While he enjoys variety, Martin’s heart lies with hazy New England brews, always striking the perfect balance of flavour and drinkability. His signature approach introduces just enough bitterness to keep every pint endlessly sip-worthy. 🍺
The turning point for Martin came when he won a competition hosted by ‪@thehopadditionpodcast‬ , solidifying his decision to go pro. The beer we brewed together for this #brewwithus video is that very winning recipe: “Drawing Pictures of Mountain Tops.” It’s a stunner, featuring a perfect trio of Azacca, Mosaic, and Citra hops, balanced by a beautifully crafted malt bill. 🌄✨

A fantastic video with a smashing chap! We compared notes more than few times during our simultaneous journeys from the homebrewforum to commercial breweries. Even now Hod's always happy to offer me his experiences, advice or just good old moral support. All the best mate, and wishing you continued success. See you soon.

This is a great video. I'm definitely going to try adding my sparge water salts at the boil for my next brew.

Exceptional vid. Brilliant to hear about Hod's journey from homebrewer to pro, and then some really insightful technical tips and tricks for brewing a Maverick hazy pale.

I'm only just about to begin my all grain journey and still so much to learn but watching this shows what's possible from simple humble beginnings.

    Another great video Jim!
Loads of technical stuff that I think can be translated into the homebrew set-up. I'll be trying the idea of splitting my water additions across the mash and boil for sure.
Hod seems like a top guy, I'll certainly drop by and check this place out if I'm in the area.

    Great video guys.
In the recipe it says to do a whirlpool/hopstand for 70mins, is that correct, or is that a typo? Cheers 🤙🍻🇦🇺

It’s total contact time. From start of the WP to the end of transfer. To get the predicted IBU’s for the beer. Like I said in the vid to use your own equipment and transfer times to get the same on your equipment.

I brewed Malt Millers Conflux several times and always loved it, so I'm really looking forward to brewing this one @MrHodster / @MaverickBrewCo. Do you aim for a specific pH before dry hopping? Thank you for sharing!!
    🍻🍻🍻

I can't speak for Hod, but as long as you hit the pH numbers in the mash and then in the kettle, you shouldn't need to worry about the rest of the journey as it will usually take care of itself
