Cleetus I've said this before but there's a creep that's killing your 60ft. Go to 11:35 and play at 25% speed. The car moves a few inches and trips the beams before the power hits the tires. Watch again in normal speed and you'll see it too. Would have been VERY close to a 7 had it matched your personal best 60ft.

He definitely needs to work on that launch. Think it's a combination of the hand break and dropping the clutch. But still fast as lightning!
Agreed. Even without slowing down the footage Leroy can easily be seen rolling through the beams. The rears roll a little past half of the tire's roll out which is somewhere in the 38-44in range I'm guessing based on low tire pressures. He is losing not just a tenth but potentially a full .250 with the roll-through.

I wonder if they ever got it aligned as well? Setting the rebound rates on the shocks is one thing, but making the wheels point the right way is a whole other ballgame.
@@kleetus92 Way late, but I'd just like to point out that an alignment takes about an hour to 90min with 4 similar jack stands, 4 heavy sockets, 30' of string, some tape, and a cheap caliper. Plus the basic hand tools to adjust the vehicle. Some trash bags to remove driveline bind and you're groovin'.

Unless he makes a freak pass it wont run 7's till this winter. It's to hot in flaradah atm I suspect we might see some teens but not much more. I personally think he doesn't have enough turbo to do it while it's hot out.

No he wont. Taller tires have 2 benefits to a car like this.
1 He can leave harder because there is more rubber at the road surface. Don't believe me, make a 28inch diameter tire out of paper and then a 30 inch in the same width. Go sit down now please your argument is invalid.
2. Taller tires give him more options when it comes to gear changes, let me explain..
When you deal with a turbo car you normally have a limited rpm range where the car makes power in a usable way. Turbo cars are not as finicky as say a NA engine but turbos are a limited rpm output device meaning they only make power due to physics where they make power. It's pretty well known. What the taller tire does is make the car pull harder thru the rpm range because it places more load on the engine to pull the tire height turbos love a load and excels at making power against a load.. Ask any diesel owners if there turbos do anything off load or on load and you get the idea. Also if you listen carefully to him running the car flattens out power wise 2-300 feet from the finishline usually that means he's not making anymore power and has ran out of power or the rpm range is wrong. I remember like it was yesterday when he took the 26 8.5's off and put the 28 10.5's on.. If you do not believe me go watch that video. He's running into the same problem as he did then but I think the suspension he has in the back wont let him use a taller not wider tire. He's essentially ran himself out of his usable rpm range and the car isn't pulling anymore after a certain point or not at the rate it was pulling. Putting a taller tire on puts the rpm range back into useability. You can also do the same thing with rear ring and pinion changes. It's what turbo guys do. he runs 6800-7000 or so thru the lights with an effective 3.55 gear.
Do a google search for gear calculator.
3.55 rear gears
7000 rpm
28 inch tall tires
= 164.32 mph
given a inch of tire growth thru the lights I'd say he's out of useable rpm range.
So anyone stupid enough to say wider tires will help do NOT have a fucking clue as to what they are talking about.
He's under powered for the 170+ mph he needs to get into the 7's and he doesn't have enough rpm capability to reach it with an acceleration fast enough to get him there. the 68's might help maybe.. i'm not convinced and he should have gone 72's instead. He also has an aerodynamic wall he can't avoid with the car so he needs more hp then he thinks to make his goal.
Iv'e said this before and I'll say it again that car will run 7's it wont run it in it's current configuration without winter cold weather to make the power to overcome the tire and rpm limitations. he needs more acceleration to reach 7's with his current combo and he isn't making enough power to do it currently. So please take your nascar values back to your couch and let the drag racers drag race. Or learn when you are wrong. I hope this clarifies the reason that car will not run a 7 in the summer in floriduh it'll need weather conditions for altitude density and a acceleration curve to match up. it wont mph better it needs more power and unless he puts a body on the car he'll need either 72mm turbos or taller tires or both to make it a consistent 7 second car.
And just to clarify something. That is already a 7 second car with an automatic. Physics again strike. Maybe in a future video I'll explain it but with a manual tranny he needs more rpm capabilities or taller tires. No two ways about it.
Think at this point you guys should really consider getting Profab to mock up a front lip/rear diffuser. You could use the lil bit of aero and extra downforce to keep the car planted and going straight.

Cleetus McFarland read diffuser for sure. That will have little to know drag but it will Increase the smoothness of the airflow out the rear and increase some top speed. I bet you can get 2mph out of it

Tim Nugent agreed. Personally I bet you thr 60 foot was just a hot track and a hot motor. In my opinion he might be hitting a serious wall of aero drag. His car ran 168 all night... almost no matter what
That type of aero mainly helps on high speed turns as the lip reduces the pressure underneath the car by "blocking air" below it. The diffuser is basically a big opening to the bottom of the car from the rear that's there to increase the rear pressure (fluids move from a low pressure region to a high pressure region) so having a kit like that will make the air from the bottom of the car move towards the back and thus pushing the car to the ground (it doesnt create a vaccum but it's pretty close to doing so), at 3rd gear he's pretty much non spinning anymore so the extra downforce will only slow it down and on first gear he isn't going fast enough to have more traction due to aero. Realistically this will only help in 2nd gear but the drag will make him have a slower top speed in 4th and add more load to the car in 3rd and 4th.
What he really needs is a proper drag aero kit (those instead of making downforce for turns minimise drag on straights) to make his air resistance lower in 3rd and 4th gear. 1st and 2nd won't be affected (2nd will benefit from that but might spin a bit harder than usual) but 3rd and 4th will have less load to push forward. I bet with this set-up (without even changing the tune) an aero kit like this will be enough to make him go 171+ and perhaps lower 8s or very high 7s.
The problem with this is that mainly it consists of a massive straight wing connected flush to the trunk of the car, I'm sure you can picture what I'm talking about) but Leroy doesn't have a trunk, and since it's basicaly a moving frame it would be quite hard to design something actualy beneficial to it. I think adding a fiberglass roof and a fiberglass rear body would already make its drag coefficient lower (thus making his drag lower and his top speed faster) without adding much weight.
I like James a lot his intelligence in the trade is key, so is Jeremy.

Been telling them that for 8 or 9 months now hell just getting the solid mounts was spring last year. I keep telling them 30/10's would work better on a turbo car but it might be a space limitation.
