- Secret moonshine cave found under North Wilkesboro Speedway | The history continues to shine at the speedway through its moonshiners.
For years, rumors were running wild that the historic North Wilkesboro Speedway was the site of a secret moonshine still.
Now, some Wilkes County locals have more of a reason to say, 'I told you so.'

That’s the most nascar thing I’ve ever heard of
Now this is something that is great to find out. Yeahhhhhhhhhhh moonshiners
A void under the seating means NOTHING. How was it accessed? No door no room.
🙄
Exactly. This is a pointless story that reveals nothing, with the only intent to please local racing fans.
The fill under the concrete settled, leaving a void under the concrete. This is not unusual. Unfortunately, this misleading news segement isn't unusual either.
It's got to settle A LOT to leave a decent sized hole. They usually don't settle much. And won't settle at all without significant water getting in there.
Running moonshine is how NASCAR began, so its not surprising to find evidence of that. Some very cool history!
They find a moonshining spot with no moonshining equipment enough said
Feds blew it up decades ago...
They need to figure out a way to put that history back on the track and make it part of the race track.
The ghost of Junior Johnson is there!
I saw this on a Dale Earnhardt Jr. episode of Lost Speedways a couple years ago. Fascinating stuff.
Those dang Dukes.
They should have Never shut down North Wilkesboro, I was at the last Cup race there and said that this is the beginning of the end of nascar, what a shame, they abandoned the Tracks and the Fans that built the sport, and I will never forget that.
Luckily, they started racing there again last year. Brought her back to life.
You need to catch up with the news
@@wyatberp3611 nascar died with Dale, and that is what I was talking about, I know that racing has started back up there. I stopped watching asscar in 2004 after they sold out and abandoned the fans and don't care what they do.
@@drshoe8744 So NASCAR went splat after Dale went splat?
@@wyatberp3611😂😂
Nascar. Missing Big here... install a copper still, restore it , sell shine, make a museum under the stands ,
It’s just a wash out under the stands. This track was abandoned for a long time.
Dale jr is going to love this news. Its because of Dale jr that the track is back in action.
Do reporters go to school to learn how to do all the stupid little cutesy intros for stories?
Lol I doubt it. All you gotta know is how to read since they're reading
Old news. Dale Jr had this story on his NASCAR show about old tracks 2 years ago!
That ain't proof of 💩 besides they didn't think muti foot thick walls were needed to hold up some drunk spectators when they built it 👎
Nice. What beter bevrage to have on a day out at the races. Who boked the bets after a couple of refreshments besides
Now that is Awesome
I GOT NEWS FOR YA, IT AINT A SECRET NOTHING IF YOUR BLABBIN IT ALL OVER THE
TV
Ray Brown would be proud.
Damnit………they found it.
Any moonshine left? 😵💫
Over 2 minutes long? You could've distilled this down a bit
That looks SUSPICIOUSLY like a money counter to the right of him. NOT a printer. I've seen a few in my day.
What did they expect that concrete to be solid? Pretty sure all that style of seating would be hollow lol thats alot of weight to pour in one soild piece 😂 anything for a story I guess
Incredible
This has been known for years even decades.... Get a clue WFMY!
For a station around since 1949, I'm surprised they didn't know.
It wasn't for drinking! It was for driving. Fuel for the race cars.
I’d guarantee you, Jr Johnson knew about it
I had a feeling Junior had something to do with it before I even watched the video, Ol Junior was quite a guy.
Wow, how did they get the moonshine out? Through the cracks, must have been a door surely!!
You can't be that dense surely!
@@Yukanhayt-Mhenow not as much as you
@Yukanhayt-Mhenow they discovered this "room" because they noticed cracks in the concrete under the seats. if it's got a door to access the "room" to make moonshine and distribute the moonshine it's not a new discovery is it. If it has no door how did they get into the "room"
Well … if this publicity helps bring the track back into operation then I’m all for it.
However … as much as it might be a good yarn, I have to wonder which producer thought this was a rural legend worth creating …
Just to think back when it was a fully operational still site, at any moment that still could explode and shoot a whole section of people sky high 😂
Nascar was founded by Moonshine runners, going back to their roots!
The All-Star race might be cancelled this year
The big news story should be about the meth lab in the pits
Its time for the annual drink n drive 500.
Another great track NASCAR left.
there back racing there goofy
They literally returned to it last year lmfao
@@ctrlquorkzz415 I said they left which is 100%. Correct. I did not state they never returned. The lesser races came in 23 not the main race. Cup has not been there since 1996. My point is NASCAR made a mistake leaving there.
@@brandondavis8790Cup has not raced the top class since 1996. Another NASCAR mistake.
@@rolltide9547cup ran the all star race there last year. Kyle Larson won it on the old surface. They repaved it and are running all star race there again this year
Is anyone dumb enough to believe this?.........wait, never mind of there is.
Grandstrand
So it wasn’t a still. Got it 👍
Good for.those men for making.white gold!!!! :)
Thats not a "cave" 🙄
Horribly punny
What a non story.
Proof.... i see what you did.
No.
"Grand Strand"??? Nice english😂
Hahaj geeks
Nascar is not where racing got its start lmfao.
moonshine is where nascar racing got its start (what they said in the video)
It was probably a meth lab I seen the gray no teeth people around there
Are you stupid or retarded
They were criminals back then.
Just because the state says so don't make it so....they ( moonshiners) were feeding their families the only way they knew how, does that sound illegal to you
I'd rather sell illegal shine to feed my family then steal from other people @@greg4876
😂time knows no bounds….what a history discovered about racings heritage….
