The 10th anniversary live video has a couple of songs with dual acoustic drums (Next Stage & Tamashii): yuri plays the set featured here, and Hana performs on her enhanced North drum kit (with 4 cannon toms!). Those performances got me hooked onto Gacharic Spin.

OMG, the energy of these ladies in this video and usually they double or even triple it live. And Koga, Hana, Oreo and Tomo-Zo are about 35, not youngsters. Yuri is older than she looks, 28 and their "baby" Angie is 21. Very well done ladies.

I still haven't got my head around everything GS do in this track and haven't even started looking at the associated folklore. Really looking forward to the album and hoping the new label allows them to escape Japan for a few shows.
If you want a more in depth look at most of these folk lore stories just play the game Okami by Clover Studios. You play as Amaterasu in wolf form that just so happens to stumble upon all of these stories in the process of saving Nippon from the demon invasion.

The other Gacharic Spin release from that week, The Come Up Chapter, might be my favourite song of theirs. This album's going to be something special.

Great reaction. But don't take lyrics too seriously. Even for native Japanese, this lyrics are extremely ridiculous and taking meaning is almost impossible with full of playing with word sounds.

There’re really mashed up, a lil much?!, with messages to not overdo SNS (common Angie theme), to not be a creepy boss (getting pervy with employees over drinks after work is a problem that’s generally been well highlighted, in japan, in cities, & beyond…), and the Tanuki (KachiKachi version), Momotarou, Kintarou, & Issun Boshi (& who knows what else I’ve missed) characters are from various folk and fairy tales, which in turn have each been retold with varying accuracy (she does ask, who even knows what really happened?!) In the center of Angie’s story, her groping boss is named Tanuki (probably the more normal reference to the steady drunk Tanuki displayed at every shop and on my mantle), and she feels bad for condemning the whole man for just some aspects of how he treats her, thus pointing out that demons have feelings too, as well as the way adversaries can strengthen us. Great stuff, and what a chorus at the center of it all! 🤘🎸💃😎
