    Idk why people hate the digital cluster. I think it makes the car look like a fighter jet.

    The only thing I don’t really like about the new M550i xDrive is the way the headlights go all the way to the kidney grills. It’s too much like the 3 Series headlight design. The 5 Series headlights were always isolated and separated from the grill and that made it more unique. Now it looks like a big 3 Series. It’s still a badass car though.

    Are you really driving around that car with 9km range left in the tank? I can only imagine how it will be serviced, once every 4-5 years.

    9:30 I am cringing at all that glued together plastic hosing and ducts under that M550i hood. I just replaced a bunch of these for the 302 HP N55 turbos that seem to crack or split at the seams from wear and age at the 8 years/50k miles mark. I wonder what the longevity of the same plastics will be on a 523 HP engine?

    12:08 I hope you figured out that the rear seats do go down. I know this because I bought mine two months ago, and I can see the pull switches in your trunk

    The stick moving from manual shift into P came in 2007. So that's like 13 years old news.. :P But considering buying my own second hand 2018 m550i this weekend. Nice video

      Why do you need a mobile app to start your car? Is the car key so hard to carry, especially with keyless entry (and start)?

    Great video. I live in ny city. Potholes all over. Is it true it would be in my best interest to get 19 inch rims instead of 20 inch?

      j s yes! Yes! Or wheel and tire insurance

    • @vladdysdiamonds2523
      @vladdysdiamonds2523 4 роки тому

      If you are not planning on adding the rim and tire insurance then don't even think of getting 20 inch wheels. I have 20 inch wheels on my M550 and been through 8 rims and 9 tires. To be honest this specific vehicle doesn't really stand out with 19 inch wheels, not to mention the difference in performance when you have the 20inch. So you need to decide what's more important to you.

      I have an 18 m550i with the 20s in Toronto. I have blown 5 tires in 2.5 years. OEM are good years with very low profile 35 series in front and 30s in rear. Strangely enough, I have never blown a rear tire. I didn’t purchase the tire protection but even if I did it’s a nuisance to have to go to the dealer every 3-6 months with a blown tire. I love the car but the 20s and those low pros along with the roads in Ontario, just not practical for every day use especially in winter. That said I downsized to 19s for my winter set up. I think 40 series profile and it’s been okay, only one of the 5 blow outs were on my winter tires and wheels.

    Very interesting. I just picked my 2020 M550 up this week and I didnt have the option for the laser headlights or the digital climate control. Maybe it's different between US and Canada?

    • @Gtaplayer325
      @Gtaplayer325 4 роки тому

      Laser is pretty new.. maybe was not available? But the digital climate control is avaliable since the beginning of the G30..it comes with the 4-zone climate control.

    nice review. We have a 2019 X5 M sport and love it. Getting rid of a MB 350 GLE in about i6 months so trying to decide between this car and the MB AMG E53. Going to be a tough decision..

    • @Modern.Motoring
      @Modern.Motoring  4 роки тому +1

      I haven't yet driven the E53...my two cents is to take them on a thorough test drive and don't let raw power sway you.
      For me, it's everyday comforts and the ease of the infotainment that are deciding factors.
      Lemme know what you decide on.

      i would definitely pick the M550 over E53. I own the 2018 model and absolutely love it. I took the E53 Coupe for a test drive and to be honest it doesn't feel as sharp as M550 nor does it feel powerful. The handling on E53 is disappointing and steering feel was numb. If performance is a main factor then I would pick the M550.

    What was the price difference between this and a M5? Like a 2019, that you chose this over it?

    • @Modern.Motoring
      @Modern.Motoring  4 роки тому

      This is $86,650 MSRP.
      The M5 rings in at $115,300, a difference of nearly $30,000.

      Real question is why buy a M5 given that the 550 now has 523hp.
      What is the math that makes the M5 a great deal as this is only about 77hp down for 30 to 40k more.
      That’s enough to buy a few entry level BMW models in addition to the M550.

    Many heating issues, buy the wards best engine 3.0 inline 6 with turbo ,it’s so good even Toyota is using it in
    The Supra ,I had the 2020 m550 one year it’s gone ,two friends spent over $6 k in 3 years,
    The 3.0 turbo B58 engine youcan tune a safe 600 hp
