Thank you for the shout out. I was very happy that you could use the accessories for the Unimat lathe. I purchased an Atlas 618 lathe several years ago and all of these items were included in the lot. One I realized what they were I know that you could use them.
I just sent an email offering a chuck to Mr Pete, having found a 4 jaw over the weekend. I'm a week late, but if he can usd a second chuck, I'll send it his way. Thanks for your generosity, Mr Pete is a gem...
I'm a retired engineer and it's so nice to see tooling and equipment donated and reused by others in the know or at least willing to learn the craft. Most importantly is that these items do not ever get thrown out or scrapped, they certainly are not made like the used to be and are extremely vital that the by applied in use by the right minded people. The younger generations need this equipment to be around so they too can learn and thoroughly enjoy the techniques employed to created such vital pieces of tooling , which in itself is part of the craft also to not only use what's available but also create new equipment with high standards also ( made in china is cheap nasty) and always fails especially when needed unfortunately! Nothing beats quality, nothing at all. Thanks Pete & Steve for your contribution to further inspire the next generations ❤️👍
@@Th4thWiseman the unimat maybe a tiny little thing but because of the choice of material and the precision with which these are made, they are an all time fav. and about old toolis, machinery, they are gold as you say. I am always on the hunt every weekend and have found some great stuff that has been added to my collection and wish it to be passed on to the younger generation who are passionate about them.
What a treasure trove of well preserved gifts for the Unimat lathe. Thanks for introducing Shark River Machine to your viewers. Another subscriber here for what’s likely to be an interesting channel.
@@mrpete222 Thanks for asking. I’ve recovered about 95 percent from my hernia operation with very little pain. Working in my shop almost every day on some interesting paying jobs. Nice to get some warm sunny weather again.
Step 6 of the Unimat Challenge! Those accessories are so cute! It's amazing what they did in basically the size of a bran muffin. You're so blessed with friends and admirers that helped you with the tooling! It's almost better than if you'd found them in the Mystery Cabinet.. they would certainly not be in as great condition, plus you got to complete someone's puller collection. ;)
this is great! the pieces are either steel or cast iron and made just like the full sized accessories! in fact on the unimat 3, the 4 jaw is made from machined bar stock. not so scale looking from the back but just as good in quality. very cute chucks.
Thank you Mr.Pete for all of your videos. There's not many people with the amount of knowledge you have. I watched about 10 videos so far and always look forward to learning something new.
I have not met Steve yet but am a subscriber to his channel. Steve is also very involved with Camp Evans, a large and diverse "Action Museum" in Wall Township, NJ. I always tip my hat to guys like Steve that give-back, plus pay-forward, often at the same time.
An elderly man was having a sale out of his garage, about five-years ago, down in Bloomington, Indiana. It was mostly older woodworking hand tools that he had, but he had a lot of items. After a short conversation about Stanley hand planes the man could tell that I knew about and liked those items and he began to trust me. He invited me (and only me) to look through two other out-buildings that he had absolutely packed full of antique tools. I bought several items and then he showed me a Unimat DB-200 that was complete with many accessories, but I found out later that it was missing the steady-rest which I purchased off of eBay. It's an older model with the cast iron base and it even came with the threading attachment and all of the masters to cut threads. He sold it all to me for $300 hundred dollars, which is what he paid for it God knows when. I still have it and feel very lucky. Neat little S.O.B.
So Mr Pete i just started three other videos and decided to keep searching for a better video to watch and found another new one of yours Keep em coming Thanks . WoW That's some nice tooling it's like Christmas at Mr Pete's .JM
Theres a cute lil Unimat for sale near me for like 600. It comes with 3 jaw, faceplate and the milling head. Stop tempting me! I need to stay focused on full sized machines 😅
It looks to me like you need another piece to make that lantern tool post work. Something like a washer for the tool to sit on and when the screw clamps the tool it fixes everything. As it is, it won't. All that will happen is the tool will be tight in the lantern post but floating about in the Tee slot. The simple rocker you mentioned will not be enough. A rocker sitting in a dished washer would work.
Lyle - Check page 26 of the "Unimat Miniature Machining Techniques" manual to check to see if that 4 jaw chuck mounting plate has been "turned to fit". I purchased one of ebay and found that it had never been finished turned - very lucky for me as I was able to fit to my spindle! Steve has a great channel - and appears to be generous as well!
Mr. Pete, What do you think the best way is to get rust off of small places in a machine? I’m thinking of threads on a Vice or parts of lathe where (dammit!) there is rust!
i think that "big" 4jaw chuck doesnt belong to this lathe, i think its for the unimat 3 lathe. but i,m not shure, maybe someone else know ? cheers ben.
I bought my 4 jaw around 1977 before Unimat 2's or 3's were introduced and my sales brochure for the optional attachments have the 4 jaw chuck on the front page. I contend that it is original to the Unimat DB200 & SL1000. Later 4 jaw chucks did not have a removable backplate, and can not be mounted on a divider head.
Very nice gift. You're a lucky man Mr Pete. I used to have a Unimat SL lathe. Had to sell it to buy a used Mini Lathe. Sad to see it go. Wish I still had it. Cheers Nobby @nobbysworkshop
Good morning Mr. Pete!! I'm Augusto, from Brazil. I really like your videos, especially about unimat. My dream has always been to have a unimat mini lathe, but here in Brazil it is very rare. Last year I managed to buy a unimat sl for myself!! It was very damaged, so I restored it all!! it was beautiful!!! But it didn't come with accessories. As it is very rare here, there are no parts and accessories to buy. I would like to know, can you sell me some accessories? I would really like to have the drill press function. If you want to sell me some pieces, tell me! I don't speak English very well, but Google translate helps me. Thank you very much, Augusto!
Thank you for watching out. I’m glad you have finally acquired a lathe. Sorry, I have not had my machine very long and I am still trying to get the accessories myself

What generous people you know, A unimat machine in great condition with tools and then another gives a box of accessories !! First Class .
I love the divider head; 30, 36, 40 & 48 indexing plates were made. Early 4 jaw chucks (with mounting plate) and 3 jaw chucks also fit the head.
What a treasure. What a generous gift.

Beautiful accessories!
Great job. Thank you 😊
Very kind of Mr Steve Lang and very good precision ground stones.Thank you mrpete.

Just a quick note--The early Unimat had M12X1 thread. The Unimat 3 (later model) had M14 X 1 on the spindle.
Thanks
Beautyful accesories for yor lathe. In next videos maybe you could use for teach other form to turning

What a great haul. Steve's a good bloke!!! But that hat! It needs dirtying up a bit with some greasy thumb prints and grinding dust 😃
What about a nice ring of sweat stain?
@@mrpete222 that'll work
Quien sabe cuantas veces veré este video pero al final lograré buenos afilados.

I have yet to see you use that unimat...either your too busy or you dont like it works
Thats an indexing head he sent. You can get different indexed inserts for it..
Good morning Teach
please measure, and post the dimensions of that lantern holder, if you could!
Hi Mr Pete I just wanted to know if you were going to make aluminum hand wheels for the Unimat lathe
I’m thinking about it

I think you are referring to the 3 jaw chucks. They use 2 "tommy bars" to open and close the chuck.

Oh no!
Any tips on how to access the youtube studio link? It won’t work for me.
Not sure what you mean.
But I do believe that you have to be a premium member in order to get studio? Not real sure
ER16 collets are fairly common. Just be careful of the cheap Chinese collets. Their deburring and general quality control is horrendous.
That chuck holder uses E16 collets, not ER-16 collets. Not the same.

That misspelling annoys me too. It is correct spelling of you live over the pond😅.
he spelled the word "vise" wrong
Big F'n deal, you troll!
Actually I read somewhere that “vise” and “vice” are both correct for that useful tool. In America the latter word refers to low level crime.
Just to throw this out there, it wouldn't be impossible to make collets if finding them proves to be unobtanium.
Yes lol
