That's interesting because as an Australian Latvian we were never brought up with this, my grandparents never did it, only if you had muddy shoes or obvious dirt on the shoes here, I never knew it was part of Latvian culture until watching this video, maybe it's because of the snowy wintery climate there ?

I suppose that the reason behind why Latvians go to supermarket more often to buy smaller quantities is that we live closer to them. As you mentioned- everything is in walking distance. If a supermarket is further away that you have to use a car, especially for bigger families, we also go once a week to buy more. And then for the fresh stuff we visit the nearest little shops.
As a Latvian expat in the UK, I recall being asked, "How are you?" and deciding to respond as I would in Latvia. I knew it might seem odd to them when I said, "Not as good as I would like to be." To my surprise, everyone started telling me that such a detailed answer wasn't necessary. But to me, it wasn't detailed-it was just a quick response. Quite amusing, really.

Nice video! BTW I dont think that people in spoken language uses 24h format - usualy they say "at seven thirty in evening" - haven't realy heard too often anyone saying "ninteen thirty". And yea silence and "how are you" are latvian thing - if we ask somone how are you - we realy care how's that person doing otherwise we wouldn't ask - and that's why we consider answer carefully. We don't talk for talkings sake - we need meaning for conversation. So "normal" (or actualy "labi" - which is "good") is "fine" for latvians ;) any other cases is worth while conversation!

You do not look sound or carry yourself as what we know as Hondurans but I’m sure you feel the same way yourself, which area in Honduras are you from? I’ve been to San Pedro, Lago de Yahoa, and on the next trip probably going to La Ceiba

Everything you said is so right haha
3:00 - that's the only thing I disagree. :D Rye/ black bread with Nutella, some jam, or even honey is AWESOME! :D But, of course, it's just a matter of taste/ preference. :)
Yes I have to agree. I was eating dark Rye bread with peanut butter while watching your video. what a coincidence.
I'm Latvian 🇱🇻
Good day, l am planning visit Latvia to learn their lenguages next year 6 months, can you advise me a good school to learn the lenguage, in Riga, send you nice regards, very nice your kind video🤲👏

Hey... no sabia que tenias esta canal lol congrats
Saludes desde philadelphia.
What kind of employment is good in Latvia?
The people who earn the most in Latvia are usually working in IT as programmers and developers. A really promising industry here with lots of startups.
hmm tea is mostly popular in hot countries eg. all over middle east
very true.
Thanks a lot;)
To be honest, i drink tea to detox my body and i do it everyday
1:00 Your telling me that wasnt normal????????????
Normāli! 😁
Nice 😊
Cheers 🍻🍻
You’ve just described my life 😅 except for the weird rye bread thing lol and I hate being silent
Hahaha that's why the quotation marks in OK 🤣 It's a struggle!!!
Wait i hope you didn't mean that people say out loud "let's meet at eighteen?" That's totally weird hahahaha. We only use those numbers in writing, otherwise we would just say six!
Un Ka tev patik Runci?
10:27 plz just say honey cake its direct translation
that ,,normal'' hit home
An easy trick with 24 hour time is to just minus 12.
Normāli 😁😁😁👍
I AM ON MY DADS COMPUTER
Normāls video
Paldies 😆
Hi,about the 1.Taking off the shoes is a sign of respect for the host.If i invite you to my house for a dinner(which i have cleaned and made food for you),and you don't take of your dirty shoes off...we will never be friends
Nutella is overly sweet so black bread is perfect for it
When you were talking about us wearing shoes outside and slippers inside, I couldn't help but think how, perhaps, grossed out you would be to find out that there are weirdos like myself who literally stop wearing shoes as soon as spring arrives. On another note, has anyone ever told you you're absolutely adorable? No? It should be punished by law, imo =D
Thank you 🥰 So are you walking barefoot already? My feet are always cold so not a fan but you do you :)
@@GabrielaPineda Not yet, it's still too cold. And/or wet. What, has nobody told you there need to be 3 thunderstorms before you can lay on the ground? Same rule =]
@@kraanz OMG! No one has ever told me this hahaha it is too cold and wet tho :(
@@GabrielaPineda "Stop laying around on the ground, dearie."
What, why, I'm sunbathing.
"Because the ground is cold and wet. You can only do that after the third thunderstorm of the year. Otherwise you'll get rheumatism."
Grandma, I'm (let's say) 17!
"And probably arthritis, too. And glaucoma. Mmm-hm."
No, it makes sense, though - third thunderstorm is, what? something around June? Pretty hard to find any freezing mud to roll around in by that time =]
