Lord Tex towards his civilians: "I will be a good lord with low taxes who treats his people well."
Lord Tex during a war: "Let's just banzai charge them with crap until they die under the weight of my crappy troops. They cost too much money to keep alive anyway."
Well, those tax cuts have to come from somwhere.
You jest about the IJN-IJA rivalry being from clans hating each other, but if I recall that is literally what happened.
Yep. Clans who were on opposing sides in the Boshin War and never quite got over it.
It was still bad enough that you had small groups from one getting into gunfights with groups from the other. There were even assassinations of top Admirals, Generals, and rising stars even up until the pearl harbor attack.
@@Scriptedviolince I mostly consider it a shame Tojo put an end to that... mostly.
You have to love the computer demands peace while they are losing.
I also consider this what it would be like if Tex served the Draconis Combine.
Does being a lucrewarrior count?
"Artillery is great except it's proclivity to aim to the left."
Me who has had problems with that for years: WAIT IT'S NOT JUST ME!?
I could be wrong, but I think Japan's equivalent to "pajamas" and underwear, at the time, was the Yukata...more or less, a cotton kimono-style bathrobe. Versus a proper kimono, it's cheap, mass-produced, and is often the under-layer of traditional dress
the yukata is a simplified lighter kimono used in less formal situations and during the summer when the heavier kimono would make the wearer overheat there's a specific yet again different kimono like garment they use as undergarments for women its a bit over complicated
I recall something called a Fundoshi being more or less underwear. More accurate to call it a loincloth but it's popped up a few times in reference to Japanese traditional clothing.
Shogun 2 was the best in the whole series to me, I could zoom in and watch them going at it and not care if I lost a battle.. I have near plat on it too.. I just can never be "the one".
All the sync kills and just watching that one guy fighting to the death decide I'm taking all of you with me... so good.
I wonder if enough of drop off in competition to get that one lol or just like 10 diehards no one ever beat still lurking
Tex's early game strategy: "Charge of the Horde"
Bloody Kurita...
He was captain Mercer!
What's next? Tex rooting for Capellans?
@@athos1029 worse Clans.
@@mikecampos1193 Even worse: Blakists.
Tex driving his small ship directly at the T of a larger ship getting raked at short range are interesting albeit utterly suicidal tactics...
Well, we don’t watch Tex because he’s so good at min-maxing, do we now?
@@rafale1981 haha true. Style over safety. On hindsight he might have been actively trying to kamikaze his ship in and hoping it blew up...
He can't kick the shit out of it without getting closer.
cool the artillery in shogun always felt like they actually did something and had a umph to them wich made their use fun
Bold Captain for House Tex: "So, to the point... the Charge of the Horde. What is it? So the theory goes like this: huge waves of small, crappy, troops, and just... overwhelm defenders." (As Shinami01 pointed out).
Tex is actually captain Mercer
I played the original shogun and recently built myself a PC after years of being poor. This is one of the first games I picked up and it's everything I wanted it to be. Glad to see Tex plays too.
If you go way back in the BPL channel's playlists, there's like 90 2 hr+ vids...it's AMAZING.
Still probably the optimal co-op Total War experience.
'Ruin Japanese' might be an improvement for Tex on the slim side.
A horse grenade is a horse with glyphs painted onto it to cast horse explosion independent of a caster, but also with some timing mechanism.
iirc the "stagnation" of the early 19th Century in firearms was largely due to the transition from flintlocks to percussion caps, after the disparity in the performance between the two, especially in damp conditions, were made painfully clear during the Crimean War. The need to update arsenals to this new and far more reliable technology took priority over everything else.
That, and early repeaters that started appearing were both too expensive and unrelyable to utilize as the primary arm. This didnt atop their use as artillery and naval Nti boarding weapons however.
They fully abraced the draconus combine after this.
What a wonderful gift to recieve this evening. Thank you gentlemen.
Well at least I'll have something to keep me company while my body tries to violently eject something that it has decided it does not like. Plus this is something to help balance out this period of time with how enjoyable Deputy and Mr.Tex tend to be to listen too.
What is the cargo your body is trying to jettison?
Yeah I prefer the explosive type and not the YEET through the mouth type.
Had something similar early this week around 3am. BPL SS13 playlist was a god send then for sure.
@@Ratkill9000 - I know what you're saying and agree with with it. Sadly I ended up have both ends smoking! Luckily not at the same time, my body was at least kind enough to spare me from that.
@@BRBMrSoul - I'm sorry that you had something similar happen to you. But I'm glad to hear that you were lucky to have the banter of Mr. Tex to also guide you through that rough patch as well!
That was some nice, easy listening. I even learned a thing or two. Can't wait for more.
Any video with the Deputy's Adventures(TM) is a good time.
Yay, tex doing shogun 2! I can’t wait to see that!
30:51 Smoking jackets, plush bathrobes, and many other forms of relaxation clothes have quite a bit in common. If you like one, there might be another that you'll like more.
Also, knitted blankets, even the ones with large holes in them that you'd logically think wouldn't be anywhere near as warm as they are, are amazing in both comfort , and kinesthetics.
Yess, you been talking about this long enough...such a great game. Definitely the pinnacle of the series.
Excellent, i noted on steam you’ve been playing recently lol (booted it up recently too so see steam spy stats on whose been playing lately) hoping for an episode, still one of my all time favs too, especially Fall.
"There was like a half second there where everybody was perfectly cooked."
"Oof."
🤣
Tex could solo this whole conversation with an automated 'Yeah!' from Dep every once in a while.
23:32 "I'll just come in the back" O.o
Absolutely love Six Frigates, a fantastic book I listen to every couple years.
shogun 2 is indeed one of the BEST strategy game's
Merry Christmas to you and the Black Pants Legion @Tex. Been a long time since I've played this game . Thank you Tex for reminding me how great this game is.
Thats some good naval praising of z0rg and his burning flames
Ah, Satsuma... home of the Shimazu Clan... good call Tex, good call...
YES! Sengoku Jedai with TEX!!! Oh man... good friggin' times!
What a wonderful wake up call...
Looks like in this Japan we don't get the Sat-Cho alliance. Instead we get the Sat-Sai
I usually add new videos to my watch later list. But this title was... interesting
I'm going to add "old internet " to my BPL bingo card, lol! Love Tex & Deputy vids!!!
the Japanese pajamas of this age are... wait they're still wearing those
Well this is wonderful thing to see I'll take it as an early birthday present. Tomorrow is it if anyone is curious.
Oh you unmitagted gijin round eyed, big nosed.. forigner! Now I MUST play Shogun 2 Fall of the Samuri *mutters words that would make a Yakuza blush*
I like how the loading screens seem to consist equally of artists' renditions of contemporary historical events on the one hand, and then on the other hand it's just shitposts. Manga was basically whimsical drawings and political cartoons for the longest time, IIRC.
I know I'm late to the party, but as a Civil War reenactor, I can't stop picturing climbing earthworks and coming across a Samurai with my Enfield, I'd be F***ed.
Total war: Shogun 2 is one of the best in the series especially for the poor announcers voice acting which I believe they patched out now. but navy can be broken so easily in the late game.
Nooo did they remove 'Shamefru display'!
Nani!?!
@@nath9091 no they haven't as far as I am aware! Shameful Dispray is still something I hear from time to time :)
"Comfy" depends upon lots of variables ... like the temperature, humidity, furniture, what you are doing at home ... and it also involves your taste in clothes. Oh and it also involves UTILITY and FIT ... because women have worn corsets for hundreds of years and they helped them doing the daily chores ... because they have the same BACK-MUSCLE-STRENGTHENING FUNCTION as one of those broad leather belts which weightlifters and strongmen use. No corset = back ache after heavy lifting ... and this does affect your comfort level AND - so I am told - corsets arent uncomfortable IF THEY ARE ADJUSTED TO FIT YOU!
From memory it’s actually been determined that the lifting belts were bad for the body…corsets probably are too.
Nothing beats home comfort then wearing nothing but a house coat bare chested with silk pyjama bottoms with rabbit fur moccasins
Old school intro is requested in this decade of quicksand. The Japanese are terrific people. Don't bomb people at all if anyone is listening.
Ah Pre-Space Flight Kuritans being classic Kuritans
Ironing newspapers
Set your iron on the lowest setting to warm, iron one page at a time, in-between sheets of brown paper or parchment. The newspaper needs to be ironed from the top downward and then folded loosely in a horizontal fashion before being handed to the reader.

timberclad tm. the premier sandal for the Emperor's seamen.
Ah, later than Sengoku Era... ok... Still good...
Tex plays shogun mad respect!! ❤👍
Gonna save this one for work later big dog but I'll go ahead leave a comment
Hmm the whole clan leadership in one army seems a bit risky. Then again this could be something of a culture thing, leading from the front as a true samurai. A true dragon... oh ... well... lets hope the sane side of Tex prevails rather than the draconis combine thoughts coming from playing a game about their origins
"The Obama Clan is too center for me!" Tex 2021.
ahhh Jutland jokes. that was most enjoyable.
Civil War Bayonet Drill is Ballet for Real Men.
53:14 I guess they could have taken Austria, because while we've always sucked at warfare we never sucked more than in that specific period. Just look at goddamn Königgrätz...
mining for guns and drugs for tex in eve sounds like it would be alot of fun.
I hear tell them na-guh-nita guys are pretty good.
Tex... you are my new favorite youtuber.... just everything about you is entertaining to me.
Correct me if I'm wrong but I always thought that it Beatty who thought filling every inch of free space with cordite was a good idea, not Fisher
Would be a great game, Tex.
Hi Tex, Have you ever played Rome Total war? if so that would be a cool video.
The best kind of Japanese history! The tex kind
hey tex will u do more tex talk battletech?
Keep up doing videos, listen to them when I can't sleep or when am doing college work. And fuck clanners.
Tex and dep travel back in time to prevent anime.
Dear Tex, id really love it if you could shine a light on the ongoing roguewar we deep into season 3 of the online rogue war, you don't even need to play, just jump on and talk about the interesting stuff going on. I'd love if you could shine a light on the community. Even a humble clanner like me would appreciate you bringing some of those refugees our way
Do I smell potential hidden BT game here? Lol what’s googleable name? I’m always looking for new game experiences myself at least
Hey Tex I've been meaning to ask do you play many roguelike games these days?
Very Cool Video
Is battle tech done
The Japanese have a long line of rough times.
Muskets are neither clumsy or heavy. .69 cal musket balls are very bad news.
Depends. Matchlock muskets were 2-3m long, and weighed in at around 20kg, and couldnt be fired without a rest. 19th century musket carbines however are a different story.
And so ia the tanegashima teppo, which is more of an overgrown pistol than a musket. It had no stock, a small bore, and consequently lower charge and effective range than its european counterparts. What it gained however was ease of use and production. During the warring states period by most aources japan for a brief period had more firearms than all of europe combined.
@@ineednochannelyoutube5384 I guess I am judging by the later standards of Charleville and then Enfield muskets. I have not shot an arquebus.
I will disagree with the utility of gatling guns during the battle of Little Bighorn. They used the gatling gun as an Artillery piece, and the doctorine that made the fixed heavy machine gun a potent weapon of war was not developed until the early 20th century. The gatlings would have been outflanked in the open steppes of Montana. The French Mitrailleuese, the technological equivalent of the Gatling at the time, was only successfully used as a defensive piece in the Battle of Gravelotte, though the German Krupp guns meant it was all for not.. Love your content Tex, and would love to hear your rebuttal. Remember: Krupp is the German word for YEET.
A better example would probably be the numerous times when he straight up abandoned his post to go on vacation with his wife *while the campaign was ongoing*. On one occasion, he straight up abandoned a patrol in the middle of indian territory while actively campaigning against the tribe in question. That patrol was slaughtered to the last man, and he was court martialed for it.
Interestingly though, even though he was an absolutely insufferable asshole, much of the time, what saved him wasn't his battlefield prowess, he was average at best. What saved him was the he was literally too pretty. After Little Bighorn, the women of the indian tribes came out do defend his body from warriors who wanted to scalp him. He was that pretty.
He had major anime villain energy.
The battle at little bighorn had worst problems than misuse of machineguns. The investigation of the disposition of bodies clearly shows no firing line was formed, suggesting leadership problems and men fighting as individuals instead of units. The reverse is seem for example at the battle of isandlwana, the british bodies were found together in groups with an handful of individuals suggesting they followed doctrine and stood back to back in an cluster when they got surrounded.
Good times, bad times you know I've had my share, when my woman left home with a brown eyed man, but I still don't seem to care.
Fuck yeah. Wrecking history
Was George Picket a bit of a dandy?
