"Some people want to start being really creative and customizing right out of the barrel." *looks at Mad Micas shopping basket, does shifty eyes* Way to call me out, Katie!
Haha! I'm torn. I want to be super creative right out the gate but then I like to guage my abilities based on the "teacher." I've just ordered and awaiting delivery! woot
Yeah, I've gotten fragrances I like, so I'm going pretty off script myself! 😂 but then again, I'm using the fragrances I have because I originally bought them for a family craft club my sister and mom and I do. We wanted to make bath and beauty crafts like bath bombs and melt and pour soap, but covid kinda threw that plan out the window so I'm just making cp soap with the fragrances and gifting the bars to friends and family, but them especially. These fragrances have a shelf life and I don't intend on wasting them!
Katie, I'm honestly upset about how good this series is with the detailed instructions and options within them because now nothing is stopping me from starting soap making! Darn it, I have too many crafts at home already... But could you also do a mini series like this where you do just melt and pour designs and tell us about all the ins and outs of melt and pour and preferences of types and brands?
Same, grrl! So many crafts. Then I went & ordered a scale & lye & a mold that came with cutters. Now all I need is a dollar store trip... But my end goal is a milk & honey oat soap for my gosh danged sensitive skin no scents except essential oils, no colorants.
Agree! I dont wanna mess with lye yet so use melt and pour and would love for her to do a melt and pour series to show us the ins and outs of that if possible
I FINALLY did it Katie. After more than a year worrying about whether I could do it, I did it. I’m not on Instagram but I’m so proud. Thank you for this series.
I am SO excited about this. I almost have everything I need 🥰 went to home depot yesterday and got a cuisinart stick blender and I'm waiting for the fragrances and colorants in the mail
You can start without colors and fragrance. A really good idea is to try small (5-8oz) batches to start. That way you aren’t wasting supplies if you don’t like it. It also allows you to play more with additives without wasting supplies. When doing small batches (or when you first start) it’s a good idea to whisk them so you can see (and feel) every step from emulsion to thick trace. Have fun!
@@mysticmaidensoaps2960 thank you so much! I definitely want to make some without fragrance 💕 thanks for the idea about the wisk! I will definitely do it as soon as my digital scale comes in the mail 🥰
I am Donna Brandon from Florien, Louisiana. I just love watching your soap making. I have been collecting all of the fhings to make soap, except the lye. By the way, i e.njoy watchiñg your husband and you working together!! I would rather watch your tútorials than anyone?!!
I love this series!!! I’ve never been much of a crafty person, but seeing these has pushed me to try to make soap! I’m so thankful for your step by step instructions. I hope you keep this series going for a long time
I may be binge watching all of your videos. Please know you are one of two channels I watch the ads for to support. Can’t wait until the next release day.
It's amazing you are doing this!!!!! I think a lot of people would love to start making soap. Not so much for profit, but in my case, I wood love to be able to do it as a stress reliever and something really really cool to make for my loved ones. Believe it or not there's not a serious like this on UA-cam and I absolutely love that you are taking the time to explain everything so intermediately. I swear, a couple years ago I had asked a soap maker on this platform if there was a series like this. A series that literally broke down everything in the beginning, broke down the products, the tools, the lingo, recipes, safeties and Hazards, everything and then helped you through the process. And of course, there wasn't. On top of the fact I can't think of a better person to give classes on soap making. Absolutely love your personality. It's like sitting down with an old friend you've known forever! Please keep the series going it's amazing!
Once people start tagging with their soaps, I'd love to see a vidoe showing other folks' interpretations of your designs. I love seeing how creative people can be with a recipe or a tutorial. And yes, I would be the kind to change things up right from the start!
Thank you so much for putting this whole series together! And for FREE! Incredibly generous! Your instructions are clear and you are setting us up for success! Thank you!
Katie we are so lucky to have you as a community. You selflessly give not only knowledge but your time and you take such joy in teaching that it is amazing to watch you work. Not only are you an amazing artist but you’re also giving and beautiful soul don’t let anybody ever tell you different. And once again thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and your self.
Could you pretty please do a video covering essential oil ratios and good blends? I’m really interested in soap making but I’m even more interested in all natural/organic soap making. I loved your spinach lavender soap bar, and would love to see more like it. 🤍😊 you’re very inspiring!!
I love how safety conscious you are! The detailed, clear instructions and encouraging repetition was great. I'm not intending to make soap but it was a delight to learn anyway.
I’ve been watching your videos for about a year now and with this series I’ve finally decided to try it. Just ordered most of my supplies today and my step-daughter and I are very excited to make our own.
Also, yes please, more tutorials! Everything I have done so far has been based on all your videos (and all your suggestions for books and other tutorials) but these are awesome. I know we all feel that way. Thank you so much!
I LOVE watching your videos. I won’t lie, I’m never going to make soap. But, I appreciate what goes into it now and happily fork over money for artisan made soap and candles.
Best helpful hint for doing layers (which I discovered making rainbow soaps) - liberally spray the top of the layer you’ve poured, then go off to get the next colour ready. The alcohol helps to form a ‘skin’ on the top of the soap - making it easier to add the next layer. You still have to be gentle but I’ve found it made doing layers much easier. Love you Katie!! ❤️❤️❤️
I am super excited to make my first batch! Am watching all the videos first before I even order products just to be 100% confident, but I'm already 99.999% confident thanks to Katie's amazing teaching skills and encouragement. I am so proud of you for doing this series, you are a natural!
deinfitely wait the 72 hours to unmold. i got excited and messed with mine after 48 hours and it was kind of cracking a little on the edges not wanted to unmold. I think it’s because of the soft oils being dominant:)
This is the second video you've Blue skadoo'd in. I assume this is an essential soap making skill. ;) Also, I'm an intermediate to advanced soap maker and I am following along with these tutorials and enjoying them thoroughly. ♡
She is so amazing. After learning from Royalty soaps, I made my first bar and my own company! Thanks so much for all you do to pay it forward! Living with anxiety, I didn't think I could work with lye and feel safe, but she makes me feel so safe as long as I was careful, wearing safe gear, and thinking safely during the whole process!
I've been binging your vids for a few days. Now I wanna make soap. Thing is, I've tried making soap in a small workshop once. The soap kept sweating and it didn't solidify, ended up moldy instead when I left it a few days. I was traumatized but your vids..makes me wanna try again.. :')
@royalty soaps I've only discovered your videos in the past week and just wanted to say that I think you are absolutely adorable. You have such a magnetic personality and are just gorgeous. Thank you so much for your videos! Even my 5 years old sits in my lap when she sees I'm watching you and just chats and comments the whole way through. We love you!
Absolutely love this series! I’ve made CP soap years ago, long before stick blenders, tutorials on the Internet, swirls and mica! I had one book for instruction and that was it. So I’m starting over and discovered you and this fabulous series. I’m waiting for my scents to come and I should be all set to start!!! Thank you again! 💕
I have been making soap for 22 years. I love, love, love watching all your videos and have learned a few techniques I use now. Like waiting to mix up my next layer. Not blending it to soap on a stick status. Doing soap at room temps, that was scary at first. Its my Saturday tradition to sit and take a break and watch your videos. Keep going always love to learn more. I have taught a few classes for my friends and family. I had a delightful time teaching them and getting them hooked also. Last note my husband now uses scrappy, scrappy. To make me smile every single time. Thanks for your cheery disposition.
I love this way of learning, even my brain can make sense of it. I'm still copying the Soap Making Terminology, got up to Humectant , so still aways to go, but i'm enjoying it. Can't wait to make them, quite far behind with the equipment etc, but i know where you are when i need you. Thank You Katie
Love your videos, love your tutorials, love you and all that you do! Whatever you put on UA-cam I will be watching! Thanks. Hope you do something fun for your self today. ❤️❤️❤️👋👋👋💐💐💐
Katie! I am loving this series! I am so happy that you came up with his idea to do these classes and I appreciate your positive attitude and spirit to teach us soap making. Good job, Katie and Co!
I love these educational videos because they are fun. I get why people make educational videos just with telling people what do because it can be dangerous but your personality is so great it shines through. Soap making is fun and thats exactly what you make it. I have made a couple of batches before and it was you who inspired me to do it. My 2nd lot came outso much nicer than the 1st lot. Love all the videos thankyou x
I would love a video on you cleaning all of your soap containers/utensils, what soap you use, water temp. ect. Thank you for the Royal Creative Academy I hope to start making my own soaps soon!!!
Looking forward to making soap when the equipment arrives! Changed the micas and fragrances to the recipe as I live in the UK, so hopefully it works out well 🤞
Katy, I think you have done a wonderful job with these videos and it's so lovely to have this new 'up to date' basic soap making series, using sensible temperatures and techniques. I hope this series becomes the one that people get to referred to going forward when wanting info on basic soap making. I'll certainly be sending people here when they ask about making a basic soap.
I cannot even begin to tell you how much you inspire me and how your genuine enthusiasm to teach others and how you freely share your knowledge makes me so happy and so excited to learn. Your spirit just shines through and I love how excited you get and I never ever feel like you are talking down to those of us who are just starting out on our soap journey. I love your videos
Alrighty. I've watched all of the Royal Creative Academy videos, bought my stuff, and used my new knowledge with a Brambleberry kit that I bought previous to knowing the RCA existed. I adjusted all my measurements/recipe to fit my molds (ovals and a bird) and... it seized on me. I believe it was because I blended too long (I was afraid I didn't blend enough and kept going) and due to the very floral fragrance oil the kit included (I'm not a fan but it was all I had for my first batch). Now that I've messed this one up, I can go all in with the RCA supply list! I am excited! To everyone thinking of diving in, do it! Make that first batch! Make that first mistake! It will be fine and the next one will be better. :) I cannot wait to get my Mad Micas set and my ton of Costco olive oil. :D Thanks Katie! I commented on this one because 1) I watched right before making my first batch and 2) I want folks to know that it's ok to mess up and make ugly soap. Just be safe though!
I just got my colorants in the mail from Mad Micas. They included an unexpected bonus color for me too so I can get super creative if I want. If I end up becoming a professional soap maker after this, I will probably be buying a lot of colors from them.
Hi Katie! My name is Shannon. I LOVE your videos. They have been so helpful and inspiring. I am waiting on all of my supplies to start my soaping adventures. I already had a small business in mind and a name LLC. This has just given me the confidence and encouragement to do it!! Thank you!
I’m really watching all of these videos and taking notes. I really want to make soap and I am super excited to start on this journey! Thanks again royalty soap
Katie, you are awesome I found you 2 weeks ago and watched a ton of videos. I am going to 1. Follow your videos to make the soap. 2. Order soap from you and if 1 works. 3. Make soap for Christmas gifts. Thanks for what you do.
I am so glad I found this series. No other video I have found told me how long to stick blend initially to get to trace. My last two batches were a tad thick so I just swirled.
Absolutely love this. You are advancing the generosity of the UA-cam soaping community by offering this masterclass for free!! Thank you for setting the gold standard and spreading positivity every time. Much respect for you, Katie and team!
Your videos are great! They're also very kid friendly in terms of explanations. One day when I have children, I think I'd like to try soap making with them when 10+ years old, as a science experiment. Until then, I'll be making soap on my own ASAP!
I love watching her videos she's entertaining and I like that she actually talks in her videos and not just play music through the whole video
Annette Hefer true
Annette Hefer I agree completely! So entertaining even if I'm not making soap.
So true. When I come across a video where theres no talking, I tend to turn it off.

Katie, you‘re just lovely! Thank you for these wonderful lessons, pep talks and positive energy! 🤗
I don’t make soap and probably never will but I really enjoy these videos.
Trinkets and doodads! Love the way you keep it real 🥰
Thank you so much. We beginners need you!
Katie, You’re amazing! I am making soaps for all of my dialysis patients. They tend to have super dry skin so these soaps are perfect.
Sitting crocheting while watching a how to video for a craft I have no interest in doing myself. I just enjoy seeing others create their passions.
I am so happy you are doing this. U have shown me so much over the last few years.
i dont and havent ever made soap. These are just satisfying videos
Your videos are great! They're also very kid friendly in terms of explanations. One day when I have children, I think I'd like to try soap making with them when 10+ years old, as a science experiment. Until then, I'll be making soap on my own ASAP!
I love making soap but they were things I just wasnt comprehended. The video put them in perspective. TY
A little tiny shimmy? Love that!
Today’s my birthday so you posting on my birthday with a beautiful soap makes me 😁. Also I’m making a melt and pour soap with my friend.
Happy birthday darling!😊
I have totally enjoyed your video as I am embarking on soap make. Please continue to be as thorough as you are with each step.
I could watch you dice 100 potatoes and still be entertained. You are so FUN!!
seeing the soap being beveled is so satisfying
Yes please more tutorials, your teaching style is so positive and informative. Love watching your videos.
You’re a born teacher! Very easy to follow. So encouraging and uplifting. This is the way the world should be. Well done! 🌸💗
