    Do you think it is worth buying the Active 2.0 over a cheaper pressure washer?

      It definitely rinses the car off faster like I mentioned, which is nice, but I mean, does that really matter to you? Also, from more experimenting, you do get better and thicker foam using this machine, but you do have to use more soap. So what really matters to you is the question? I got this as a Christmas gift, but I don't think I would've ever paid $350 for it with my own money.

    After taking back 3 Ryobi $99 units I purchased the Active. One burned up and two others kept pulsing nonstop when turned on. Hopefully the active has not issues. It should be here in a few days.

    • @HammysShowcase
      @HammysShowcase  5 місяців тому +1

      Highly unlikely you got 3 dead machines. Ryobi products are actually pretty good. When I first got my Ryobi I thought it had problems like you, and I replaced it twice before I realized it wasn't the machine that was the problem. Seeing as you are on your third machine it is likely due to your water supply or hose.
      1. The garden hose you are using is too long. Anything longer than 50ft will seize up the machine and it will not work, same for the Active.
      2. You don't have enough water flow from your spigot
      3. You might not have enough psi from your spigot.
      4. Not clearing the hose and machine of air before turning it on and running it.
      If any of these are the reason, you're going to have an issue with thr Active as well.

    • @myriadcorp
      @myriadcorp 5 місяців тому

      @@HammysShowcase They were defective machines. The first one worked fine two days. On the 3rd day it would continuously surge about every 3 seconds while on. The second one was working fine until it started burning. I don't know what was burning but the smell of burnt plastic/wire started. The 3rd one did the same as the first after a few uses. They all made a terrible squealing noise when you let off the sprayer. Hopefully the Active doesn't do the same. Spigot pressure is decent and the hose is 50ft. I always bleed the air before use.

    I also appreciate people's efforts to buy better and throw less away. So I appreciate companies that make longer lasting products. Even if they are more expensive in the beginning, the cost over the life of the unit should be lower.

    Foam quality has to do with several factors, including dilution rate (as a result of orifice size and flow rate), and output pressure. You can’t judge the pressure washer’s foaming capabilities based on the parameters of this test. There are too many variables.

    • @HammysShowcase
      @HammysShowcase  9 місяців тому

      True, for my case I just need to use more soap in my mixture for thicker foam. Not a huge issue.

  • @superawes0meguy151
    @superawes0meguy151 5 місяців тому +4

    For foaming, have you tried using a 1.1mm orifice on your foam cannon? I a similar issue with my Karcher 1800 and the change made a noticeable difference.

    • @HammysShowcase
      @HammysShowcase  5 місяців тому +2

      My outlet will pop if I use a smaller orifice. But I discovered that if I want better foam, I just have to use more soap. I was able to get away with about 1oz of soap previously, but with thr Active I gotta use between around 2oz for good thick foam.

    • @HammysShowcase
      @HammysShowcase  4 місяці тому

      Turns out I just needed to use more soap. Gotta use just under 2oz and it gives really good foam. Requires about 1.8 - 2oz of soap for a good thick foam. 1.5oz or less is alittle runny

  • @mechaet33
    @mechaet33 6 місяців тому +1

    The mjjc should have also came with a 1.25 orifice. Swap it out and foam should thicken. 1.1 is optimized for lower flow units like ryobis.

      It did. I did some more experimenting after this video and figured out you just have to use more soap when using the Active 2.0. Gotta use about 2oz of soap instead of only 1 or 1.5oz. Not a huge deal. Using a smaller orifice would blow my circuits, draws too much power

    So no regrets from a sound perspective? I have the Ryobi as well and it's annoyingly loud. On video, the Active 2.0 sounds very similar. I know the 2.3 is coming out with a different motor but I'm not a pro... and dropping $650 on ANOTHER pressure washer seems like a bad purchase :) Great content.

    As far as the foaming goes, have you tried Adam's Mega Foam car wash soap? I was hesitant to try it due to the cost ($61.00 for 1 gallon), but it was on sale on Amazon Prime Day so I purchased it. Holy moly, what a difference in foam over the Chemical Guys Maci Suds soap. Now there is no going back. You should give it a try. Great Video by the way.
