@TheBandGuide most content creators are 95% filler and 5% useful content (if even), thank you for not being most content creators. Hope your channel grows. You deserve it.
Colin, recently switched from GB to Logic. I will be mixing and mastering my first Logic project soon using your step by step videos. They are fabulous.
You are my favorite UA-cam production teacher!! Everyone always over explains or uses too complex of language. Your videos are easy to follow, have a great pace, and everything makes sense!! TY!
I followed your 6 step process and my mix sounds great! I’m currently on the mastering process! I can’t wait to hear the results! Thank you for your videos. They easy to understand and follow. This has made a huge difference for me! I look forward to making more music! Thank you!
Your instruction is great. I wish I had found this information a long time ago. My mixes are already so much better after following your videos. I ended up liking this video 9 times. Thanks.
I think your mastering is fuller, sure it's louder too, but that's not the point. It is also clearer and punchier. Thanks again for your helping us all to mix and master better than we do.
left a like on all videos I used of yours, when u exported u left the mastering at -5.2 volume, is it suppose to be lower like that or do we bring it back up to 0.0????
Thanks for explain the main idea of mastering process, shape Tone, Dynamics and Volume Up, it helps me a lot, my mastering is not the best, but I like much more than Logic AI Mastering assistant 👍👍
Thanks for this video, I have just finished a master of a song I mixed using your technique - I'm super pleased with the result and my master sounds way better than the Logic Mastering Assistant plugin. I have mastered tracks before with varying degrees of success but never been happy with them until now. Your approach is more musical rather than using multi band compressors etc where I found myself going around in circles, looking for numbers, getting frustrated and eventually loosing my ears and mind lol! Great video and I encourage anyone to try this method - it really brings the focus back to the most important thing - using and trusting your ears!
Hi Colin, wow is this helpful! Especially since i am not too familiar with all the technical ins- and outs of the plug-ins, i now understand more of what they actually do... And it sounds absolutely so much better now! I also tried the mastering tool in the stereo out mix, and, as you mentioned, there is a lot of 'pumping' going on there and worst of all, the silent passages become much louder (probably because the differences between soft and loud will sound better in a car or on a telephone, but i want to keep my choice of the extreme differences that i go for in my mixes... the mastering tool ruins that immediately ;-) So, i will definitely go along the path you have set out in this video! Thanks so much! Stef
Cheers. I already made the jump to Logic Pro but I still learned a lot in tbis series about mixing and mastering in general. Especially mastering and compression.
Super helpful. Thank you On the compressor, you turned auto gain off but then when you switched to vintage, it turned back on. Assuming you intended to keep off?
Hi Colin, wonderful content as usual, just a little confused by the dithering option being selected when you exported the master out. I assumed dithering was only selected when exporting at 16 bit for CD use. Am I missing something? Thanks again for another amazing video 😊
As usual, this is a great video and I've learned more from you. Question: You have been using this same song for a while now, could you do some of these videos with a different genre of song so we can hear how these techniques work on different sounding songs? Don't get me wrong I love your song, but it is a hard rock type song. I do a bunch of songs of different genre's Country, Folk, Blues, etc, and I'm getting decent results from what I've learned from your videos and training, but it would be helpful to hear you apply them to different sounding songs.
So i tried the AI mastering and wasnt impressed. Then i followed the steps in this video and got better results. Then added the AI mastering on top, and with a few tweaks got some nice results in the end. Thanks for another helpful video dude ✌️
Went through this process. I exported the file, and the LU-S was generally the same with the other references I had, but when I played my song off of the files app on my iPhone, it was louder than the other songs. Do you know If it's an iPhone files app thing, or am I missing something with mastering? Not sure if this is a frequent issue you've heard of. Also, awesome series. Spending my staycation learning to mix and master, and your videos is what I've been studying this week. Thanks so much
Can you put a step by step guide of the mastering process. I know it was just one video but it was very helpful to know the plugins you were using even though I know it varies
👏👏👏👏👏 You are really good bro! As I was following your explaining, I was like: he does a really great job covering details! Thank you so much! This is my first video with you! I will definitely be looking through your channel !
@TheBandGuide what do you think about the own mastering with additional mastering assistant at the end? Do you have experience with this mix of both ways? Thanks a lot for this explanations, great!
In that last step of bouncing the track out, how do you keep it so that it's just that track, and not all the other tracks that are within the region length? When I do it I get a bounced track that has all the other tracks I was working on all jumbled into one track. On your project I would think you would also get your static mix track and reference mix tracks included on what you bounced. This whole six step series has been excellent. Thank you!
@@TheBandGuide Just tried it again, same problem. Everything is muted but the one track I'm bouncing (when I play the track in Logic, its just the one track playing). When I bounce it, the MP3 comes out as a cacophony of all the tracks together. The blue M indicator is on for all the other tracks.
I went through it again, and was able to get all but one to bounce properly as both wav and mp3 files. The one that didn't work, I converted to an mp3 using Apple's converter. So all good! 8 songs mixed and mastered- so unbelievably better than my original mixes!
Hey man I’m having trouble trying to control the low end on different systems, my song sounds great but if I boost my low end to get a more punchy and professional sound on headphones, it ruins how it sounds on speakers by overwhelming the bass. Why can’t I get my songs to sound as loud and clear as professional artists without running into distortion?
Because when you add effects to the song you are mastering, the waveform stays the same. If you were to bounce the final master and put it back in logic, it would look full like the reference tracks.
I like your mix more compared mastered references. The think is also at my mixing. I bring very nice and rich mid range which is gonna be modified more to hi fi sound by the mastering which I don't like :) So I don't use references so much. Its almost every time that my ears like more those mid range mixes. Just to say..
Man VS Machine, I think you take the victory, honestly the AI has no idea what you're looking for. the AI master to me in my room and setup sounds instantly flat and uninteresting.
I have other question please. I push something on my stereo out on logic and all my mastering plugins became invisible, and it's feels like I loos that power its play like mono. So how to switch stereo out to normal stereo? Thank you.

Glad you dig it, Raimo! And great point about the loudness
Just mastered a track for a client using this process, thank you so much!

just used this to do my first master on some songs I wanted to release. Thank you for making it so easy to follow.
My lufs around -12. Where should i increase this? From limiter or compressor make up gain?
Thank you for this amazing video, much appreciated.
Glad it was helpful!
Game changer, thanks so much this help me master my first self-produced song! big love
Your videos have helped me mix and master my upcoming album and I appreciate it so much. Can't thank you enough.
Just watched the full course and all I can say is THANK YOU! Deserve way more subs

Thanks Colin definitely helps 👍
thanks. this helped me alot!!

Thanks for your works. It encourages me to make music.
Whats the name of the song? I like it. Also, what a great video thanks!
Thank you
Linked mono is a great idea. I'm going to try that.
So good. And using stock plugins. So many others using all kinds of ££ stuff in their vids. Yours is actionable and achievable. 😁

As long as they are all muted, you'll only hear the track you are mastering when you bounce!

I'm curious, why you didn't use any clipping, phase checking, limiting in the mixing, and stuff like that
How do you export your mix into this format to begin your mastering? Thank you so much
This video helped me a lot. thanks!
Great vid super helpful
Should the fader on the MASTERED track be back at 0 when you bounce it?
If you were going to swap out any of the onboard plugins with your favorite, what you select for each function?
I was wondering, why did you choose not to do any mid-side processing on your master? Thanks.
love u😍 channel!
🙌🏼🙌🏼 Thank you!!
Dude your videos are the best thanks for giving your knowledge. 😊
Thanks, man!!
Colin, I like your mastering better than Logic's AI. Love all the information in this video. Thank you!
bruh I'm actually giggling like a little kid at how good I can make my tracks sound now thank you so much haha
Hell yes, dude!!
Thank you 🙏🏽
Anyone know how to bring another mastered track into your project?
How to you get pro masters to put in as references?
thank you jason sudeikis
You found me out...
what if you cant find or have the mastering assistant

Hey man I’m having trouble trying to control the low end on different systems, my song sounds great but if I boost my low end to get a more punchy and professional sound on headphones, it ruins how it sounds on speakers by overwhelming the bass. Why can’t I get my songs to sound as loud and clear as professional artists without running into distortion?
so my mix is balanced but when I exported I noticed it started clipping?
Where can we get the song?
what song is this
The track is wave or mp3?
Why was normalizing turned off on the bounce?
why do your reference track waveforms look so full yet the waveforms on the song your mastering not match?
Because when you add effects to the song you are mastering, the waveform stays the same. If you were to bounce the final master and put it back in logic, it would look full like the reference tracks.

I prefer your master. The ai one is a little safe
yours sounds better
I have tried to like some of your videos twice and it erases the like too
Yeah definitely only like once! Or three times... or really any odd number, I guess?
funny guy...hit dislike twice
😂
I have other question please. I push something on my stereo out on logic and all my mastering plugins became invisible, and it's feels like I loos that power its play like mono. So how to switch stereo out to normal stereo? Thank you.
