Every time I think you can't top the last wonderful addition to your city, you surprise me all over again! A spectacular idea, wonderfully executed. I can't imagine what you will do next but I'm looking forward to finding out!
Marvelous!! 👍🏼 It's fun letting my imagination go thinking about the people. Each going about their day. Living in Under Crag City. Taking everything instride. Looking up seeing an upside down mill and not thinking anything about it looking out of place. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks to me poisoning myself yesterday, I missed my Sunday viewing of Undercrag City 😢 So I'm sitting in bed, minus Scraps, catching up with the latest developments in my favourite miniature city......and I am not disappointed! 😊 The way you planned out the structure of the windmill, and then joined everything together seamlessly......AMAZING! The other half popped in to see how I'm feeling, heard your voice, and scuttled back into the workshop 😂😂 I'm really looking forward to next Sunday and the next installment of Undercrag City.......and no sheep have been harmed during this episode! 😂😂😂
Haha! I’m sure the sheep, and your husband, are relieved - but please don’t poison yourself again. It’s a most unwise thing to do. Glad you like the windmill! More stuff to come!
@ColonelOTruthMiniatureIssues I'd treated myself to a bag of Haribo sweeties at the car boot sale, didn't think to read the ingredients list as everyone knows Haribo are 'safe'......nope, these particular sweeties contained wheat flour and wheat starch, and I'm a 'brittle' coeliac so had an immediate reaction to them. I'm still not 100%, so I'll be working through some ideas in my art journal for the next few days, keeping occupied while I recover.
That sounds decidedly unpleasant! I hope you are being waited on by a doting husband! Mind you, a day or two in bed with a sketch book sounds rather good, actually!
@@ColonelOTruthMiniatureIssues I am being spoiled rotten! I'm working on some ideas for an art class I've been asked to teach in October, so this time off work poorly is actually helping me out......although the being poorly bit I could happily live without! 🙂
The skymill, and its placement, are phenomenal, and I really like the upside-down concept! I've watched all of your videos, and I'm a recent subscriber. Your attention to detail is outstanding! One thing I've thought about is an open-air market, with things like meats, breads, vegetables, textiles, tools, weapons, etc. available for the residents of Undercrag City. An entire street devoted to something like that would be fantastic...and likely _very_ time-consuming. I'm an artist, (draw and paint), and I've done my share of miniatures. Events of earlier this year have taken my motivation, to do any of it, from me, and watching you work on Undercrag City is very relaxing and a much-needed diversion for me. I truly enjoy your content and look forward to the next!
Wow! Thank you so much! What high praise! I’ve got many ideas for Undercrag, and I’m running out of space - but a market is definitely something I’ve thought about! Who knows?! Sorry to hear you lost your motivation. I’ve had that happen to me several times over the years, but it always comes back eventually. Hang in there! So great to hear from you - I hope you’ll stick around!
@@ColonelOTruthMiniatureIssues The praise is earned, without doubt! You do splendid work! If you have space on the side of the mountain, could you do a market using more than one level - wrapping the levels around the mountain? With your imagination, I believe you could certainly conceive a way to do it. The motivation loss is due to the loss of my mom earlier this year. After dad died, I moved here with her, to take care of her. That was ten years ago. It will definitely take time for me to readjust. I am definitely going to stick around! Your imagination and content are amasing!
So sorry to hear about your mother. I hope things will feel better for you in time and you’ll rediscover your creative drive. A winding mountain path market?! Do you think I’m insane?? We’ve almost reached the top of Undercrag now - I’m starting to think above…
@@ColonelOTruthMiniatureIssues Thanks for the condolences! The clocks, so far, are still ticking. Insane?...well 😂 Maybe not you, but perhaps the residents of Undercrag City 🤣 You're just their building contractor 😉 Whatever direction you go, I know it will be fantastic!
Perfect! I was hoping to have something to watch!! I love watching these. I make miniatures, dolls house mainly but I’ve dabbled in other projects. When I eventually move and have space I’m definitely inspired to have a go at this sort of diorama/project. Thanks so much for the inspiration!!
I'm always impressed at how you seamlessly blend in the new bits with the old. Each new addition is very inspiring. Can't wait to see more. Thanks for sharing.
Left speechless and happy on a Sunday again ! I'm so nervous that its going to be finished soon and even though that would be great to see.....I don't want it to be over.
Wow, how easy were those octagons. How would you disguise the joints if you were building it in foam board - I am planning an octagonal witches tower but I want it to look like ancient stone. Can you help?? I m loving the way Undercrag City is coming together, and can't wait for next week 💜💜💜
Hi Lorraine. Constructing hexagons and octagons isn’t too tricky really, once you’ve done it a few times. But you do need to be accurate or you create problems for yourself. When I have joins to hide in foam, I use either clay or sand and glue - which is where my moss technique came from. I hope that helps! Keep asking questions - and good luck with your witch’s tower!
I spent today making 1/12 scale potted plants, applying the leaves one at a time to the stems with my new pointy stick and builders grade PVA . Thanks to your videos a fiddly job became easier and much more enjoyable 😊
Quite the intricate build this week - really looks great. And the ingenuity in the structure, as well as the wind panel impromptu table, are really excellent
have You ever thought about adding some lore about Undercrag City to Your videos. I'm curious about who would dare to live/work in a upside down windmill, of who the worshipers of the Dragon are/were :) The build as always top notch!
Love it! I wouldn't want to be the one humping grain and flour sacks across that rickety walkway... Perhaps a cargo lift or crane could help out with that.
There must be quite a draft in these caves. Very cool. What will be on top of Undercrag city i wonder. Uppercrag city? Just a joke, sorta. Keep doing whatever you have planed, this in amazing project. Thanks for sharing. Looking forward to what is next.
Excellent watch, as ever! I have a question though: Why not use a pair of fine-nose tweezers when handling the small bits of wood? Surely it would make it less of a hassle to build largely unsupported structures, like handrails and whatnot?
Thank you! I struggle with tweezers - I find they exaggerate the shaking of my hand, so I much prefer the technique I have developed with my trusty pointy stick.
Not sure how a windmill works underground, but it looks great. The sails themselves are beautiful. The upside down aspect is fun, too. I'm sure you've said before - probably many times - but what glue do you use that holds so quickly? Your videos and voice are a great way to start my work day!
Haha! Probably not! I have to admit, with this project I decided to lean heavily into the fantasy, with little regard for practicality! But there is more to come, so maybe your answer will be forthcoming!
This is so adorable. And well made! Efficiently crafted (at least materials-wise and for the desired product haha, I'm sure cutting out a bunch of accurately measured tiny trapezoids was a pain) but with care clearly put into it all the way through, and the end product is very worth it. What would be your number one advice for somebody looking to get into miniature making?
Thank you so much! That’s really nice of you! My best advice is just to jump in. Try things, and don’t be afraid of failure. It’s all learning. There is a point in any creative process where the product looks rubbish - which is generally just before it looks great! So keep going, with your mind’s eye focused on the end result and not what’s in front of you!
Thank you! That’s so nice to hear! The foam is XPS insulation foam. I bought heaps years ago from a specialist supplier, but I understand you can get it from most building suppliers and hardware stores.
Very similar to a piece that I'm redoing which is a wizard's "tower". The silly thing is over a meter tall at this point. It'll never be technically done, but that's OK.

I never thought of a Windmill in Undercrag. I love how you keep surprising us with what you are adding!! Love this one!!
Thanks Karen! Happy to keep surprising you!
I do love how internally consistent and logical each new element feels within the whole city. Upside down windmill? Of course; it makes perfect sense!
Exactly! The world should have more upside down buildings!
Thanks for being so understanding!
Can't wait to see what you build next, but I don't want Undercrag city to end!!!!
Thanks Marcia! And don’t worry - there’s some way to go yet!
