One to add to the list, records stacked on the floor, which means you have to squat down to try and see them and keep getting up to let people past. Saves going to the gym though!

Morning Mark all good points on the record stores and being cool to the customers needs and yes yes on the bins being packed to the point you can’t thumb through them, you end up with hand cramps!...have a good day and week ahead- Lis

Hey Mark! Liked your video. Great list of peeves. I’ve never experienced a record store with taped shut records, keeping the outer sleeves, or not providing a receipt - and I’m glad I haven’t as I’d be walking outta there fast due to any of those! Wow!

Agree with all 10. I never had #5 happen yet. One I hate is not having a listening station or a crapy one. One vender here pits the price sticker just inside the opening.

Agree with a lot of the peeves. But my local second hand record store does now keep the sleeves on the albums and they are better quality sleeves. But also totally agree that the new stock should be in a separate bin. I already know I have to get through 4 copies of Revolver and 3 copies of Sgt Pepper to see if there's a new decent copy of the White Album.

No Becky???? Nooooo!!! A Cool Green Day colored variant! I was thinking of sending you a US pressing of that Michael Murphy album...I guess I will send you something else lol...I'm still working on the record package for you and Becky! Precious Memories is my favorite Gospel collection! Yes, I hope they press more albums of Alan Jackson on vinyl! Yeah these pet peeves I am in agreement with! All the best!

Good list. My main pet peeve is stores that price random Neil Young ( and everything else) LPs from the seventies at 27 dollars for G+ to VG records that should be 3-5 bucks all day. If it’s more expensive than a new amazon press, and it’s not an first pressing it’s a rip off.

My pet peeves are: everyone using Discogs here in Australia for pricing. It has little to nothing to do with Australian prices, as almost everything sold is either in Europe, the US or the wider Asian area - very little sold in Aus. So it's hardly accurate. eBay is far more accurate and has larger number locally sold. So, for US viewers, not a big deal - but a big deal here. Cheers for the vid. :)

Interesting to learn. Thanks for sharing. I do agree that even here in Canada people use discogs too much as gospel. It's a good resource but other avenues should be utilized as well for pricing in different geographical areas.

Haven't read all the comments, but I swear by lighter fluid for removing stickers. Just soak the sticker and start gently peeling. Voila!
    Just keep open flames away!

We definitely share a lot of the same pet peeves. The stickers right on the jacket should be punishable by lashings haha!

Amoeba is famous for tapping records shut. So annoying. I've seen all of these. My record store is good about not doing any of it.
One of my other pet peeves is people extremely overpricing records online. I've seen someone try to sell thriller for $100. That's the most sold album of all time. I can get it for $5-$10.

    Unicorn puke! Lmao.
You would have to go to the record store with me. I talk to everyone there. I do hate stickers on the cover but don't know of a solution.

Don't get me wrong. Talking to people is one thing but talking and asking like a care salesman is another. I enjoy chit chatting with people if it's sincere.

Hey! I can really relate to your video. I'm not a fan of a pushy record owners either. It's distracting when they keep trying to show me records instead of just letting me dig. I also hate having to bend over to look at records. Unless I spot a good one, I don't bother. I'm too old. Lol. The Green Day album is really pretty. Have a great week.

I had one store reply on my Instagram that it didn't make since about not hovering and getting to know your customers. Stated I couldn't have it both ways. 😂 There is a difference. It's too bad he doesn't understand the difference. Oh well. Have a great week as well.

Hey my friend I enjoy the video, but if I'm a I'd like to play devil's advocate. about sealing up the albums by telling you to ask for help they don't want a lot of people handling them and possibly scratching them or getting fingerprints on them. I totally agree with you about putting stickers on the album, put them on the inside of the album up in the right-hand corner, will not hurt the album cover. Yes people do switch price tags, I work at an antique shop in that happens more than you think it would, sad but true. Great video and great channel my friend thank you very much for making them

Those pet peeves are spot on. I can't stand most of those as well. One that i would add, is stores that don't price their stock. Because as soon as I see that, I will ask (in this case, it was a huge pile of tapes) and was told they start at $2. which i'm thinking, what the hell does that mean? that the 134 copies of Reckless by Bryan Adams is $2, or does that mean that Cuts Like A Knife will cost me $5 instead?
The price sticker thing is so annoying. You would think that a record store that cares about this. Is that they should invest in price stickers that can easily be peeled off, with no issues.
Keeping the outer sleeves is so 1980's. But what i remember back then was that it was a way for the store to keep track of stock. as in having a time it arrived, and the time it sold. At least the store gave ya a brand spanking new one with your purchase.
Oh, another thing I did bring up to one store. Now, this may be something that might have happened to other people. Is when some employee uses a grease pencil to price on the shrinkwrap. Okay, that's fine. But ever have an album cover that once you take the shrinkwrap off, that you can totally see the price written on the cover. What's funny is that after years of this, i noticed it one day. Now i'm gonna guess it was more from just printing it too heavy. I mentioned that if they could use a post-it note. Or just run up a tab on the side, because at that time. I was buying $100+ every week or two.
The new arrivals section is hit and miss. But i love it when a store keeps up with it. Like how Sonic Boom in Toronto does it. New arrivals by the day. I'm gonna guess that they go out into the normal stock on the following sunday. or whenever they change them up.

Have a couple of pet peeves that I have been annoyed by the used record stores here in Brisbane Australia and they are. Stores pricing used uncleaned albums at ridiculous prices I think they may look at the top price on Discogs and add 20% and most are unwilling to negotiate. also a few stores don't like you asking for the records to be opened I guess they miss out on a few sales.
I do have one store on the gold coast that provides a viewing area with great lighting hence he gets a lot of my business. I too hate the sticker thing on albums if you do manage to remove it there's always some mark.
Do want to praise one store here in Brisbane who has a coffee bar its a great to have a good barista made coffee while I browse.
    Great video man !!!

I went to one store that had a lot of stuff not priced. You had to ask for the price. Then the guy looked them up on line. What a buzz kill. Took all the fun out of the hunt.
