I love that you don’t make them eat it all. I started putting dessert on my kiddos plate at the same time as the main dish and let her eat in whatever order she wants. Sometimes she eats the dessert first or in the middle. Sometimes she eats only the dessert and is full. But I know she isn’t overeating and listening to her body! ❤️
As a child during the summer my mom would bring myself, my sister and brother to go pick up subs at Subway and meet my dad at work for lunch. It was so neat to get to pick out our own sandwiches and have a picnic lunch on the quad (my dad works for a large University) with my dad. It wasn't something we did all the time, but it was nice treat just to get out of the house and do something different.
The frosted sugar cookies were my daughter's favorite growing up, and they still are her favorite today as a grown up!😀 The summer lunch series looks like it is going to be fun to watch! When my kids were little, I would pack a picnic, and we would head to a local pool for the day. My kids still talk about the "pool picnics," and how much fun we had!
So excited you are doing summer lunch! Love your channel! I am so glad im not the only parent who thinks making kids eat all their food to get dessert can cause eating problems. Hope you have a great upcoming weekend and week
Yes, food is just food. I don’t make my kids eat all of their food in order to get a dessert. On a Friday we often do poetry tea time. I make my take on an afternoon tea, sandwiches, scones, fruit and veggie sticks, nothing fancy lol.
I love the idea of the fun lunch Friday! I’ve got my hands full with my 4 year old and 2 year old this summer every day! Definitely going to give that idea a try!
Growing up I always loved to go to the park on a hot summer day and have a a pick-nick, maybe since it’s fun lunch Friday you could even get Nate and Lucy a popsicle :)
Summer lunches, yay!!!!!!! I love seeing what they ate!!!! Good job Nate and Lucy!!!! I used to bring a few packages of those cookies home to Canada but they finally got them at Wal-Mart a few years ago!!!! Thanks for reminding me of them!! They are sooooo good!!! Guess what im buying at Wal-Mart the next time I go shopping...lol!!!!! What a fun idea Jess!!!! Fun lunch Friday's!!! So creative!!! Well done for taking them to the grocery store!!! Im so glad it went so good!!!! It was nice to see Nate in the video!!! How fun that he was saying hello to everyone at the store!!!! Cant wait to see what they choose next Friday!!!! :)
My day program for adults with Autism is year round. Quick lunches for me. My gluten free Purdue honey chicken nuggets and yogurt. Cereal, or bagels for a quick breakfast.
I still love those cookies. I’m trying to find some things for my grandkids to eat and snack on now that school is out and I’m back to babysitting most days for at least one of them. It’s hard to find stuff that all 3 will eat.
I love ur summer and school lunch videos. I like how you don't force feed ur kids healthy foods but do a variety and give them stuff they'll actually eat. Some of these similar videos from other moms are titled "picky eater" but its like tons of fruits or veggies or whatnot and having a picky 4 year old to me that doesn't seem picky and not helpful lol.
My grandbabies like theme day, like fish day, we’ll watch a fish movie, eat gold fish for snack, cut out sandwiches, cheese, fruit in shape if fish. They love when I made blue jello in a jello roll pan and put a few Swedish fish in. It’s wS so much fun.
I agree that people put too much emphasis on kids cleaning their Plates and use dessert to get that to work. But kids need to learn to stop when full as should adults.
I agree with you. Kids shouldn’t have to clean their plate to get dessert. Dessert shouldn’t be a reward. That just leads to weight problems and eating disorders.

Lol. I’ve been there when I search for picky eater recipes and, no lie, they will list quinoa as an ingredient in the recipe. What?! 😂
Aww - fun lunch Friday sounds wonderful! Well done Jess.

I loved those cookies before I was diagnosed with Celiac Disease. Those cookies are a favorite thing here in Maryland.
.
Great week!! 🥰🥰😃😃❤
I agree Jess! I they want their dessert I say..okay are you full? Instead..did you eat everything? 💜

It really blows my mind that you fix something completely different for each child
Alrighty then.
I remember the frosted sugar cookies love them still today ❤️
