I wanna buy it just for the bass and motion sounds but I didn't get to hear them enough in this video. But still, I know there is so much more to this machine. Thank you so much for this.
Yes, the microKORG XL does allow for splitting of the keyboard. You can have a different sound for the top and bottom of the keyboard. However, both sounds will share the same effect (delay, reverb, flanger, etc.). Feel free to contact me with any other questions or concerns.

@elfuginio Yes, you can sync the tempo to external MIDI clock. This can affect the arpeggiator, effects, LFOs, etc.
nice video thanks for the demo!
@lvrsnvy You can do all the deep tweaking you need to from the knobs. There are VERY few things that the editor has that the keyboard itself doesn't (i.e. the "Randomize" button).
This was really informative, thanks :)
No onboard speakers. The microKorg XL must be connected to external speakers or a PA system. Please feel free to contact me with any other questions or concerns.

One of the advantages, yes. The XL also features the improved MMT synth engine found in the RADIAS and R3 synths. Good talking to you!
-Dave
Thanks for your interest in the microKORG XL.
- Yes, you can use the XL as a controller by connecting it to your computer running Cubase.
- You can reproduce the sounds of the original microKORG. Just play around with the settings until you get what you're looking for.
- You can connect your SH201 to the microKORG XL using a MIDI cable, and the SH201 will act as a controller for the XL.
Please feel free to contact me with any other questions.

No, the usb connection on the microKORG XL does not function as an audio interface. You can control the sounds of the microKORG from your FL Studio sequence, but to record digital audio from the microKORG into FL Studio you'd need to take the 1/4" audio outs and connect them to inputs on your soundcard/interface. Thanks!
-Dave
Yeah, also Arturia with Minimoog made some excellent VSTs. Thanks Dave, you are great!
Giz.
@kraftmusic Thank you so much for the reply, cheers!
thank you :D
@thechileano Did you adjust the mic level on the back of the synth? There's a small lever there that adjusts the volume of the microphone. Had the same problem myself, you just need to up the volume a bit. And of course, you need to hold down some keys to hear the sound.
Gracias por tu orientación Nicolás Copano
can you make ADSR adjustments to sounds, and can you make sounds from scratch using raw SAW,SQUARE,SINE etc?
Thanks for your interest. The vocoder mic on the microKORG and microKORG XL is detachable. The microKORG XL has a USB port; the original microKORG only has MIDI ports, so you'd need a MIDI to USB interface ($30). Personally, I'd go with the microKORG XL. Feel free to contact me with any other questions or concerns.

Thank you, I need a MIDI cable or just the TRS or XLR?
Nice video man. I'm stuck between this and a Korg R3, which do you prefer?
This thing is very cool. You play well also. This is the last board I want to add to my setup. Do you have any music of your own posted?
@Schafeo
Hi,
Yes the vocoder mic can be removed from the microKORG XL. Please feel free to contact me with any other questions or concerns.

@RobinPM100
Hi, thanks for your interest. The microKORG XL does not feature internal speakers...you'll have to connect to an external sound system, amplifier, or just plug in headphones. Please feel free to contact me with any other questions or concerns.

Yes, you can use the microKORG XL with any DAW software. You can control the microKORG's settings and sounds, plus use it in conjunction with your sequencer. To record digital audio, you'd need to connect the line outputs of the microKORG to the inputs of your soundcard/interface. Please feel free to contact me with any other questions or concerns.

I think there are some excellent VST instruments available, but there is something to be said for having a hands-on instrument to work with. Korg stuff is very good…Thanks!
-Dave
I really dig the sound at 0:35, can anyone tell me which patch that is and is it also available for the regular microkorg?
can i use it as a regular AU plugin in logic pro? if i want to fill in the midinotes in the pianoroll inside the software.... and not just record the sound...either way.. seems like a great synth..
no, it's works on its own like a normal keyboard would. and the software is free to download from korg's website
Can i save the presets on each garageband file- on GarageBand that i will create with my KingKorg? Like a VST reappears when I want to reedit a GarageBand file?
hey! cool synth! does the XL have the same line-in as the original microkorg? is it still possible to run audio thru the XL and use it's effects on the incoming audio? that being asked, the original microkorg seems like it would be more flexible when using it's onboard fx on incoming audio, simply for the fact that it's got more knobs! am i mistaken in assuming this?
All sounds are stock? I jus got mine today lol
hi, what about that tempo control? can you tweak it to exact "bpm" to sync the tempo of apregiator or delay with drum patterns from another sound source ? thanks for the answer Dave.
Thanks for the answer, but can I record my MicroKorg sounds and melody into FL Studio with the usb cable?
With the USB cable, i'd be able to send MIDI instructions to my FL Studio? So, can I record what i hear and then edit it in the piano roll like a VST?
Thanks!
Can this be plugged into a PA board , and is their a loop feature on this ? Or can I run it through a loop pedal?
These two synthesizers are very similar. The microKORG XL features mini keys, and the R3 features full size keys. Please feel free to contact me with any other questions or concerns.

if I buy the xl plus can i mix and match the programs from this and the plus.(i know id have to use the editor, but could i save it onto the plus and access without a computer?)
No sound quality will be lost. You'll just be using the USB port as a MIDI connection to your computer.

Like most professional synths, the microKORG XL does not feature on-board speakers. You'll need to connect a separate set of speakers, PA system, or even home stereo system to hear it. Otherwise, headphones are a great option. Feel free to contact me with any other questions or concerns.

Great promotional vid. Is that third sound a preset? Could you tell me wich one it is?
Question: Do you know if it's possible to plug the microKORG xl into a boss micro br-80?
Do you need a DAW to play this and do you get the software seen in the video with the synthesiser?
@thechileano Theres a switch on the back, it switches between mic and line input, i had the same issue :), also turn up the little volume knob next to it
Rich,
Can I hook this right into my UX-1 By Line 6 and record using riffworks? how would I hook it up using the 2 1/4" OUT on the Korg to the 2 Inputs on my UX-1 Soundcard ( I use it now for my Yamaha and Guitar)
hi i want to buy synthesizer suggest me which i have to buy to for gud start
It's nice to see that newer videos from Kraft are now in 1080p. These older vids look like crap. It's a shame that so much work and preparation went into this production and it's only in 360p.
do you have stores on laredo or Mcallen? or its juat an online store?
question: does the vocoder-mic do the same function as a talkbox?
You can take a regular 1/4" instrument cable and plug the microKORG Xl into any guitar amp. No adapters or special cords needed. Feel free to contact me with any other questions or concerns.

Hi Rob,
Yes, the microKorg XL has MIDI in and out connection. If you connect a larger keyboard to the unit you will be able to control the full range of notes. The microKorg XL has an octave up/down, and the controller would function as if you were expanding the range of keys. Please feel free to contact me with any other questions or concerns.

@SOADafi are the small keys annoying??
Yes, but only by using the audio outputs of the keyboard. You'll need to take the audio outputs of the microKORG and plug them into audio inputs of your computer, audio interface, or soundcard. Then record digital audio using your favorite music production software. Feel free to contact me with any other questions or concerns.

I noticed some stereo delays in this video. Are these from the Microkorg or an external unit? What I mean is: are there built-in fx in the keyboard?
Noob question, does it work with any DAW? Like would I be able to record to my DAW on my Mac and edit/manipulate the sounds, or that's what MIDI keyboard controllers are for?
how would you go about adding a drum track to that? obviously a drum machine must be used, but can you connect them to add effects to the drums?
Can this synth record short loops? Like play a bass line, and then you play a lead over it? My Alesis Micron was capable of this, just curious. Thanks!
Dave,
Does Korg make a similar instrument with full sized keys - perhaps a 49 or 61 note keyboard?
i;m interested in this-can you get a rhode and b3 sound? i'm always looking for a mellotron (symphony in the box sound used by black sabbath for example) i take it this is ideal for home recording....
Dave, I am looking at buying either a microkorg xl or a Korg R3
just wondering, what is your opinion on which is better?
they both seem to sound great and i've had a play with both. i dont mind the small keys so that's not really a problem. I'd just like to know your opinion on which is better.
The sort of things i will be using it for is like rock music with synths, like 30 Seconds To Mars, Angels and Airwaves, Linkin Park type stuff.
Thanks for any help you're able to give :)
would this be good for making hip hop beats?
MIDI is MIDI…audio is audio. You will not be using MIDI cables for any of this. To record audio into FL Studio you will need to connect the 1/4" AUDIO OUTPUTS of your microKORG into the AUDIO INPUTS of your interface or sound card. You can use a dual 1/4" to rca, 1/4", XLR or whatever inputs you have available. Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks for watching!
-Dave
Last thing sir. Do you think the sounds and quality of VSTs can be compared in some way to a real synth? I have a lot of Korg VSTs for example but I can't make some realistics and hot sounds...
What do you think?
Giz.
hi, the keys on the new XL do they have the same feel as the original? as i found the original harder than i thought would be when i saw one erlier, thanks, any preferances on model?
Hey how on earth are you making those awesome sounds from 2:30-2:40 I have been trying to get it to do that and cannot!!!! PLEASE HELP!!!
Awesome arppegiator. Sounded like there was an idea for a song right there.
@kraftmusic what are the differences between the Microkorg and the Microkorg XL?
@kraftmusic Has the microkorg XL more (and better) features than the original microkorg?
@kraftmusic
I'm interested in getting a mikroKORG XL, but I'm not too sure which audio device to choose. Could you please tell me the name of the speakers that are used in this video?
Hi,I'm thinking about getting the Microkorg XL and was just wondering whether you could answer some of the questions I have?
-Can I use the XL as a midi keyboard to use in Cubase?
-Can the sounds from the original microkorg be produced from the XL?
-The other synthesizer I have is a Roland SH-201, would it be at all possible to connect the XL to the Roland and use the Roland's bigger keyboard to play the XL's sounds? If so, how would I connect the two together?
Thanks for any help you can give!
Dude that thing sounds way too analog than it should... Amazing!
Lars van Koningsveld I think it's virtual analog. I love this synth. 😊
Been searching around for an answer for a while, though, only got myself hints of an answer. Is the Microkorg XL ready for directplay through Cubase or a similiar program, giving you directsound from your PC speakers? (Maybe the sound editor software that comes with the synthesizer can do the same thing?)
Sure! The microKORG XL has a 1/4" input (switchable from mic to line level) so you can plug any audio source you want into it. Feel free to contact me with any other questions or concerns.

...hi, can I use the keyboard to play sounds on the microkorg? I know that the keys are smaller than normal, but I want to be able to play the sounds inside the synthesizer part. Can the keyboard do that?
Also, can the microphone be detached from the microkorg so that I can store it in the closet when I am not using it? I need it to go on the top shelf in the closet. Can I do that?
Lastly, do the knobs on the synth part rotate in both directions? I need to be able to go both ways.
Thx.
Can the microKORG be recorded on Acid pro 9 software on pc with the USB midi cable?
Ah I got it, but I heard that if I want to manipulate the synth using FL Studio I need to have a MIDI connection, but my soundcard doesn't have a MIDI output or input. I need to change my soundcard or exist some MIDI adapter?
Thanks man, you're helping me a lot.
Giz.
which synth would you say is better for like trance/techno/hardcore music??
korg microkorg XL
or
Korg R3? Please answer back
Do you have to use the Korg microphone...or does it have the ability to accept other microphones?
Are all the sounds being played in this video factory presets (no tweaks)?
hey Dave, sorry if i don't write well in english but i have a question: does this have a saxophone or trumpet sound, real string, double bass, etc...? thanks... i will wait the answer here in Chile, bye
Hello,
Thanks for your interest in Kraft Music and the microKORG. I think both keyboards are fantastic. I guess the deciding factor would be if you want the full-size keys that are found on the R3, or if you want the mini keys found on the microKORG. Please feel free to contact me with any other questions or concerns.

Does it support MIDI through it's USB port?
Honestly, either unit would perform well for you. I would probably go with the microKORG XL because it uses the newer RADIUS synth engine and has some additional features. Please feel free to contact me with any other questions or concerns. Thanks for watching!

Is it still worth picking one up?
Can you record what you play into music files such mp3?
@TheTrella
Sure! Just take the line outputs of the microKORG Xl and run them into the line inputs of the micro BR80. You'll need a cable that goes from 1/8 inch stereo to dual 1/4 inch mono. Please feel free to contact me with any other questions or concerns.

So in anyones opinion, which is overall better, the microkorg or the microkorg xl? i'm getting either one or the other in a few months and would love to know which one is better overall. i love the step arpeggiator being right there in the microkorg, but the 16 band vocoder of the xl. the original is also way cooler looking haha :( oh gosh what to do!!!!
@Cmash54
I believe we used M-Audio BX5A powered monitors for this video. Any powered speakers or even a home stereo system will work just fine. Feel free to contact me with any other questions or concerns.

Not exactly. A talk box can sound a little like a vocoder, but they operate differently. A vocoder basically uses the signal from a mic to filter a synth sound, giving the sound of synthesized human speech. A guitar talk box uses the guitarist's mouth as a filter by sending sound through a plastic tube. This shaped sound is picked up and amplifier by a microphone. Feel free to contact me with any other questions.

Does it have speakers on it?
Can you run a guitar into it like the original microkorg?
can you plug this into a guitar amp?
Is there anything that the original microkorg has that this one does not? And what does this have that the original does not?
Does this have pretty much the same sounds as the 1st MicroKorg?
Would any MICROkorg be good for metal?
The microKORG XL uses the newer RADIUS synth engine, which is more powerful in general and capable of a wider range of sounds. The microKORG XL also features a USB interface and an XLR mic input (as opposed to the 1/8 inch input on the original microKORG). Please feel free to contact me with any other questions.
