one thing i love about maddy is how much she values her friendships with the other girls, and how much she cares for her friends and invests herself in her relationships with them. it's such a breath of fresh air from your typical queen bee in popular teen dramas. that scene of her comforting a crying cassie at the carnival despite the fact that maddy experienced physical abuse literally five minutes prior really stands out to me.
@@dharanisoundarapandian6587 not true. if you re-watch s2 you can see she also cares about: lexi (she gives her advice on being confident) kat (she helps cheer her up during her own birthday party, when kat was struggling to figure out what she truly wants) rue (she was worried about her relapsing in the bathroom scene & was the only one to hug her when rue came over to cassie's house after running away) even jules to an extent (they had a heart-to-heart in 2x02 when they went bowling with kat and ethan, even though they don't have many interactions together, so this one is a little iffy)

@T S maybe you want to elaborate what you mean, because I am pretty certain about what he meant. Msybe there are other ways to interpret the statement, and I am interested in hearing that wnd exploring the possibilities, but I find it difficult to believe some stranger on the internet has more nuanced insight into the conversations they were never a part of, let alone to be the absolute beast to clarify things in a single sentence. You could have bothered to at least let me know why you think that,
@T S you completly misunderstand my point snd then try to educate me on the thing you misunderstood lol. If you want, you can continue this argument with yourself for me, I hope you win✌🏻people nowadays really think they said something by calling eachother insecure smh.
Tbh there’s a lot of things that I admire about Maddy but I wonder why it is pretty much forgotten that she willingly and knowingly took part in imprisoning a young innocent man for the sake of her abusive bf., seeing that dude going to jail for doing nothing stressed me out a lot and tbh with the way Sam levinson’s writing is looking, the dude will probably be rotting in jail forever
@@Imokayluv yes, Maddy knew about the poor guy suffering. This should be one of consequences that Maddy will face in the next season apart from Nate and Cassie but we will see what Sam does
Can somebody please explain to me why this character is so special? First, she was introduced as a low life teenage girl dressing provocatively and getting wasted, then she was in a toxic relationship with a bad guy who was choking her, she probably had Stockholm syndrome in a way, then she was shown beating up and insulting other classmates, having sex with older men (multiple men), then she beat up her best friend in front of the whole school and some other things which I probably missed. A respectful girl wouldn't do this. Don't start a fight with me about Cassie deserving or not deserving what she got, I'm not talking about her. I'm just curious - there was barely anything special or good about Maddy, why is she so popular just because she is pretty and she is described as a bad b? She wasn't even smart, most of what she said in the show would be interesting to a teen fangirl, not a grown adult. -.- Her "confidence" quote is honest bs. You can only fake confidence for so long if you don't genuinely feel confident - eventually it becomes transparent. Especially if you get wasted, pretend to have sex in front of people and become aggressive towards other people. And her eyes - she looks high all the time lol ik it is trendy now but I hope it ends soon. Her voice , no offence to the actress (I honestly kinda like the actress), but the voice is 99% of the time the same intonation. There is a barely any emotion in her voice. 7:26 in the video is literally comparing a grown woman to a supposed to be teen girl, who thinks it is bada** to ruin a public business setting as a client. What? Lol irl if you break something you pay for it. Nobody would make this slide just like that. Update: I just read the previous replies an there is even more proof that Maddy sucks, seriously lol
What I love about Maddy's character is that she does not treat others who are not as popular as her badly- she treats Rue and Jules well (they are obviously not the popular ones).
Uhh did you forget it was nate who did that to tyler? And if you look at it in a different perspective, it was statutory rape, she was a minor and he was in his early 20s. Yes it wasn't "rape" in a sense you think it is, but by law it was still rape. She didn't know that nate would do that to tyler. If she knew it in the first place. she wouldn't say to nate that she blacked out. Y'all are quick to defend cassie that she's a victim of nate's actions. Maddie was also a victim of nate, the treatment that maddie got from nate was much more worse than what cassie experienced from him.
@@unniebunny2551 it wasn't rape of any sort bc it was a college party and she lied about her age so it was neither statutory nor literal rape. she also lied about being raped claiming she passed out which is another disgusting thing to do. to top it off after Nate almost beat Tyler to death, she conspired with Nate to frame Tyler for the domestic assault he committed. You can like her character without lying about her being an innocent victim.
@@edithputhy4948 lying about your age doesn’t erase the statutory rape charge. If a minor sneaks into a club or bar and sleeps with an actual adult they will still be charged for statutory rape.
The scene that made me love Maddy, weirdly enough, was the scene where Cassie is hiding in the bathroom after Maddy finds out about Cassie and Nate. Cause we all watched expecting Maddy to beat the shit out of Cassie. But what we got, was Maddy being really genuinely hurt, and it’s one of Sam Levinson’s better writing moments. It doesn’t make us feel like Maddy is weaker, but it makes her human, which is important, and it’s excellent work on the parts of both Alexa Demie and Sam Levinson
For me, it was when she babysat. I expected her to neglect her job and just exploit her employer. I'm very surprised that she's actually good and enjoying her job. Okay, she did snoop her employer's wardrobe, but at least she's really responsible.
@@apieceoflife2732 huh... Can't believe anyone with an ounce of critical thinking thinks the play is okay...It was such a revenge porn moment and I'm disapointed on how well received it was. Especially coming from Lexi that was never treated badly by Cassie. She let Lexi hang out with her friends all the time and yea they fight like regular siblings but to be mocked and caricaturized in front of the school and have your personal life on display like that without your consent by your own sister is fucked. I wouldn't call that actress "poor girl" after that carousel scene lets not pretend it wasn't malicious. News flash: Bullying the antagonist is still bullying🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️
Maddy is NOT a mean girl. She is sweet, fiercely loyal to her friends and kind. She is just mean with people who are mean to her.She had to be after growing up facing all the racism.
wtf she accused an innocent dude of rape and got his ass beat almost to death. I'm a Latina who's experienced racism and I've never even thought about doing anything like that. girl, gtfo with this lame ass excuse for toxic behavour.
@@estefaniaboujon6830 That was also protecting her abuser. And she IS a victim but that really isn't enough of an excuse to be an accessory to perjury. Nate is ultimately who should be punished. And to Maddie's point, he is the one thing that undermines her confidence. That tends to happen when you let one person mean so much to you that their anger or disapproval shakes you. But ultimately she used someone, and then lied, putting that innocent guy in prison while her abusive boyfriend walks around free.
I was honestly initially worried that in addition to Rue's addictions she would have a story where Maddie picks on her or something but I was happy realizing she just treats her like a person and not like a loser or something
i feel like shes a more realistic queen bee, at least from my experiences. the "cool girls" were hot, confident, and not mean, but just so confident that the shy people were intimidated and disliked her. also they were way more focused on their own friend group and lives rather than "bullying" other people like in the movies. most of the times, the "cool girls" didnt even know the names of other classmates, but all the classmates new the girls' names. thats the kind of vibe maddy gives.
But that’s your experience the mean girl stereotype doesn’t come from no where. I know growing up in a small town the popular kids in general were mean and petty. And I personally have never seen a shy person hate on anyone for having confidence 🙄 they’re just trying to survive
@@Las645 Same here, only that I'm from a big city. The popular girls in my school were vicious bullies, very stereotypical too - they even enjoyed being mean. Always taking out their anger and insecurities on weaker, less confident students (including their own friends), constantly humiliating and degrading others to feel better about themselves.
girl bye idk what kind of disney channel movie you grew in but people KNEW that the popular girls were mean and for good reason. not bc "pEOpLE wErE jeAloUS" but bc these girls loved putting people down to feel better about themselves. SOME of us had the regina George in our school
Yeah, Maddy encouraged and supported the less popular girls like Lexi and Kat. She was supportive to other girls and showed she cared about people and would only be rude to people who deserved it or did something to hurt her first.
the difference between Maddie and other "Queen Bee" characters in other teen movies is: Maddie knows she is a queen so she is not afraid to share her crown to another queen. She is there for her bestfriends and she is loyal. That's because she's confident enough to be able to share the spotlight to other. She is not intimidated by being replaced.
I feel like madly gets the short end of the stick in euphoria she more often than not has a storyline that revolves around Nate with very few insight outside of it. I hope next season she can finally have an independent storyline
I always think of this scene: When they're holding an intervention for Rue and she says she saw Cassie and Nate together. Cassie dismisses her and says she's crazy and a drug addict, but Maddy believes her and wants to hear her out.
That bathroom scene where Rue admits, nonchalantly, that she's in relapse (before correcting herself) tells you everything you need to know about Maddy and the rest of them. They all reacted with concern. I love how they actually feel human, and not just evil caricatures.
Maddy clearly received no love from her parents, so sought it out through beauty pageants and a toxic relationship with Nate, since he made her feel special. Sadly, that's the trap that many people with abusive homelives fall into.
One of the first thing we are told about Maddy "for as long as she could remembered, people loved her". Her parents seem fine enough, but they didn't get along and fought a lot (mentioned in Lexi's play). That probably affected their relationship with Maddy and distorted her views of relationship. Also; her dad being unemployed and her mother doing other people's nails must have influenced her in wanting a more fancy lifestyle (something Nate can provide)
@@itscesarbtch3451 And always remember that there’s someone out there who loves you and cares about you (even if you don’t personally know them (they neither you)) you are loved and valued always 💕💕💕💕
I knew a Maddy once. She was the Queen Bee at our Latin-American Highschool and I used to hang out with my her along my Best friend at the time and she was glamouros in everything she did (When we would walk around our cafeteria I would SWEAR I was walking around models bc her other two friend were just as beautiful). Nevertheless she was a very kind of person always trying to include me in conversations (I was very shy at the time) but the problem that would stand out to me is that they were always talking about boys and parties in a way that wasn't vain but just deep insecurity bc they knew what kind of girl boys would want to date at that Highschool and did things that in her case let to a lot of temporary boyfriends and loneliness at parties doing drugs that were kinda hard. I don't know where she is right now but I hope she doesn't care about that stuff today because she would be confident in herself because she really deserves it after all what happened to her in those years. Thanks for the video ❤️✨❤️✨❤️✨
You should do a video on Nate; how he embodies the toxic male jock stereotype and abuser, the origins of his toxic behavior and whether or not he's irredeemable.
I really liked the hints that we got that rue and her were friends like when rue was at cassies and Lexie’s house and everybody is at her house she walks in says “hey rue” and hugged her
Maddy is shown to be a good friend, fun, a little reckless, poor judgement when it comes to men, a victim of abuse, loyal- but never mean or manipulative or vindictive. She's not always trying to tear someone down to build herself up and I'm not even sure that she views herself as the "it girl" of Euphoria HS since the show goes out of its way to show that she longs to be the kind of girl she views as the "It girl", a girl like the woman she babysits for. She's not always ready with a snarky comment or looking to dole out her own version of social justice, her friends are people she actually likes and cares about not just girls she thinks will validate her social standing. And this probably has more to do with the mountain of behind the scenes issues with the show since mean girl was clearly what they set out to do, but we can only work with what they give us and with Maddy we never got mean girl or really even top bitch. I think it's important to remember that pretty and popular doesn't equal "mean girl"- sometimes a girl is just pretty and popular and I think that's where Maddy fits in. Besides Euphoria doesn't need a mean girl- they have the psychotic king crustlord Nate to propel the plot whenever things get boring. He's like the neanderthal closeted jock and the Machiavellian mean girl rolled into one.
Maddy is such an inspirational character for young girls and women because she radiates confidence without being mean unlike previous confident women we have seen on screen
I'm too old to love this show, but Maddy represented the popular girls at my school in the UK. Not rich or particularly airheaded, but tough enough that they were terrifying and you just knew that they had a sh*t life at home.
i cant even lie, i want to be her in some aspects. shes strong and speaks her mind, she stands up for what she believes in and isn't afraid to tell people exactly what she thinks of them. she gets shit done and is confident in everything she does
Maddie is the sort of girl I could never be (I have a very different energy and persona in general) but could imagine ending up having a surprising but meaningful friendship - despite her control over her appearances she is such a genuine friend, a friend that so many people dream of (Despite her flaws like every character has in euphoria!)
Not only does Regina clearly have an ED but her family life is weird too, and she forces herself to date a guy she doesn't really love. She may be manipulative and a bad influence, but she has feelings as well... All in all Regina is a pretty complex character for a 2000s show that was meant for teen girls lol 💖
@@okkelly6207 being overly obsessed with her weight always trying to loose weight trying different diets all the time not feeling good enough if she isn’t a size 5 or smaller maybe not your typical eating disorder but definitely body dysmorphia i have a similar problem
Honestly I never related to the self-conscious insecure plain Jane leading ladies I think society needs to realize that just because a woman is extra confident and bold she's not a diva or a mean girl Most of the time the queen bees are as sweet as honey
The popular girls in my high school were all really lovely people. Yes, also very attractive, but they were popular because they were able to get along with everyone and everyone legitimately liked them. I never related to the mean girl Queen Bee, because that sure wasn't what I'd seen growing up.
Can't relate. The popular girls (and boys) in my school were vicious bullies - VERY stereotypical too; tearing people down and even humiliating their less "popular" friends to feel better about themselves. I was pretty shocked when I saw on the show that Maddy wasn't actually a bully.
Maddy is not a mean girl. I think she’s very misunderstood yet more confident than just portraying confidence. Mandy’s on another level! Queen is for sure💜
I’ve never seen the show before but I remember the first ever clip I saw of her that got me interested in it. She was on the phone talking while she was babysitting some kid, and the kid got mad because she wasn’t paying any attention to him. I expected her to call him like a snot nosed brat and shove him to the side and continue talking, but she actually got off the phone and then a montage of them hanging out happened. I was so surprised and interested in her character because it’s the first time I’d seen someone portrayed like her actually show kindness, and even tho I still have yet to watch the show, I’m obsessed with her character.
So, bit of a story: I knew a girl just like Maddy when I was in high school; she was gorgeous, dressed like a fashion plate, and just always seemed confident and unbothered. She also had a reputation for being a mean girl (and, like Maddy, had gotten into a few physical fights with some other girls). One day, she and I got paired up for a project once and I expected her to just be all "ew" towards me. Eventually though, we got to talking about stuff outside of school and found we actually had a lot in common and she was actually really down to earth and nice. After everything was over she said, "You know, I think you should come out of your shell more often, you're a really cool guy." She just totally subverted my expectations and made me realize it's not just the "unpopular" or "uncool" kids who get unfairly misjudged, everyone in school gets misjudged by one circle or another. There are some genuinely terrible bullies in school and they should be dealt with accordingly but, frankly, a lot of kids are just trying to get by, even the ones who seem to have it easy.
Maddie is one of the things that made euphoria so relatable to me, I had similar anecdotes with popular girls from my highschool where I was not in their group but they congratulated me when I got accepted into a very good college and one time I really needed a ride at night from school and one of them offered, she is to me already a gen z iconic character
Didn’t she hook up with some random dude in the pool at McKay’s party to get back at Nate, and apparently blacked out? She also hooked up with other guys as well and they literally showed how many guys she hooked up with. That’s not a good thing, especially since she could’ve gotten in troubled for that, or pregnant…..Maddy’s no saint either. Yes Cassie was wrong, however…..Nate and Cassie were both in the wrong, and Nate should’ve known better than to hook up with his ex girlfriend’s best friend, and to manipulate her since he did in fact manipulate Cassie because he knew she was easy to trick. However….it’s important to remember that nobody in Euphoria is innocent….they’ve all done some bad shit.
Kat also is not the 'fat bullied girl', that scene with Maddy giving Rue a ride and the other of Maddy begin happy for Kat's first time...such interesting female friendships
@@ewoma8234 and a minor can lie about their age every day and still the person that's over 18 will be punished due to statutory rape. Regardless if the minor lied about their age and consented (which they can't).
Maddy is by and far my favorite character on the show. She has depth, and she's a decent human being, which is more than I can say for many of the others in the ensemble.
I really like Maddy. She's the girl you'd want to be friends with for real and not out of fear. I like that she doesn't take BS and can be physical, too. She's someone whom I want to be by my side as well.
I am probably not the only one obsessed with Maddy (yes she's done some pretty terrible things, but I don't control the show's writing) to point where I watched literally all of her analysis videos and ran out of new ones to watch LOL. Thank you so very much for uploading another one. There's something about Maddy that affected me positively in the way that I am nice by default but will no longer take BS from people who don't deserve the benefit of the doubt from me. I will not follow in the footsteps of framing people into jail ofc LOL
Random take, but I think Alexa Demie's (alleged) age, aka early 30s, makes her character more believable almost?? Maddie has a certain confidence that comes with living experiences, but also with age. She's one hell of a well written character over all.
Yes she's sweet, loyal, fashionable, confident, genuine, complex my favorite character since the series premiere and Rue and Jules are up there with her, maybe Lexi too after s2. I really want them to continue her independent arc in s3 away from Nate, like have her own focus and storyline. More writing on her growth and her friendships would be great. Especially with Rue and Jules because she has some sweet moments with them throughout the show I want there to be more
sorry but i cant see her as a "mean girl" per se... she's just more epressive with her anger thats all. like throwing someone to the ground because they're racist is... kinda okay to me ngl 🤷♀
Exactly. She faced Racism since childhood and didn't have good parents around to protect her.She had to protect herself anyhow she could to make her future school experience not terrible.
Danm this was good! Especially the fact that a confident and strong person can also experience all forms of abuse by their partner. The pain behind appearing to be strong on the outside and feeling weak and broken inside. Hiding secrets for the one they love. It is easier to convince people when you're strong and harder to convince them of the truth once it comes out. Very sad. 😥
@@shrutikaanand7587 yes, her character is very relatable to women but it's written more for alluring to the male gaze. Her nube scenes all appeal to the men.
No one has forgotten just keep in mind she's a teen and Nate made her do it. Abusive relationships don't just hurt you they hurt others around you sometimes
That kind of why I don't really care about her happiness. The way she used Tyler to punish Nate and then say she drunk to get Nate to let it go. Jules even though she was blackmailed she showed remorse over it with Maddie she just went on with her toxic relationship without a care in the world.
I think Camilla Mendes's character Drea Torres from Do Revenge fits the mold of what Maddie could have become if her character was written as a stereotypical high school mean girl boss type, or at least if Euphoria was a comedy.
Maddy is probably one of the few characters I still liked by the end of season 2, and i think it’s because she actually showed some character development. I want her to succeed and I hope they don’t mess up her character in the following season.
I just realised the roles between Maddy and Cassie were flipped. Its like Jennifers Body but this time the dark femme Maddy is now trying to stop her former light femme best friend Cassie from causing more harm much like what Needy was going through with Jennfier. Plus in response to the anger part...now its Cassie who is willing to use her anger and sadism to pick on anyone, which makes Cassie the classic villaineous queen bee.
i never see maddy as a mean girl. she’s no heather chandler, or blair waldorf, who likes to torment others for their enjoyment and have a sense of superiority. she isn’t even a regina george! she’s just popular and confident, and she’s only mean, when others are mean to her. she doesn’t take most people’s bullcrap and usually sticks up for herself. she’s a good friend, looks out for others, and nice to people, even those who aren’t “popular” like rue, jules, and lexi. she’s the “popular” girl a lot of girls should aspire to be, not the blair waldorfs. (no offense)
usually with other characters i always get insecure because i dont look like them therefore i couldn't pull off what they wear or how they act, but with maddy i just get this surge of confidence lmao, like i could never really point out why but hey this video sums it up
When I was younger, I had a friend who was very similar to Maddy. She was fierce, confident, loyal, spunky and popular amongst our peers and friends. She was the sweetest girl, never treated you any different as she always saw people as equal and she made me feel proud to be her friend but if someone was rude to her or got on her bad side, she wasn't afraid to be bite back. I miss her a lot as she could've taught me a lot of things I aspire to be when I watch Maddy in terms of being confident, outspoken and not giving an f about what people think. Nothing bad happened between us, life just got in the way and we stopped talking but I hope she's doing well.
I identify so much as maddy bc we have a lot in commun. Not in a popularity way bc Im not popular, but in a self confidence way. my whole life Ive been the most confident girl on the planet and didnt gave a f about what anyone think about me. and as maddy, Ive been in an abusive situationship a couple mounths ago and left out traumatized. its harder for girls like us who never had self esteem problem ever before this relationship to accept what happened to us, and the feeling that we « cheated ourself ». not recognizing yourself is the WORST. I admire her bc she healed very good and gained all her confidence back, and people don’t even remember that she has been abused, all they remember of her is her confidence. I can’t wait to be like that again. ❤
She is also Latina and not white. I feel like eurowestern cultural ideologies of women perpetuate divisiveness to continue the insidious effects of the patriarchy. This is not the cultural ideologies of Maddy's Latina background. Looking at it from a systemic lens that is
I would’ve killed to have a friend like Maddie in high school. Also, I would love to be a part of that friend group on euphoria sitting at the table in the back of the high school dance talking smack ha ha ha. And I respect Maddie for you know being who she is and eat like Roo said Maddie enjoys doing nothing. I can’t wait to see what they have in store for Maddie next season on euphoria.
Maddy is not a Mean Girl - she's a Tough Girl - there's a difference. Mean girls mistreat people who've never done anything bad to them. Tough girls only lash out at assholes who mistreat them, or others.
In my first school there was a mean girls gang with a queen bee, and they were bullies and generally unlikable, and they were “cool” only because they were supporting their status by bullying those they didn’t like. And in my second school there was a rich girls gang, and they were just pretty in nice clothes and they didn’t care about other people, so this school was quite peaceful and people were generally nicer. Interesting fact, that the first school was almost completely white, and the second school was racially diverse.
If you payed attention you’d know that’s not possible lmao when they introduced her character they made it clear that she didn’t give a fuck about school or working “ she wanted to do absolutely nothing”
@@Las645 That doesn't necessary mean she's not good at school. I once met a girl at a college admitted students event who had also gotten into MIT. When I asked her what she wanted to study, she said she was really only interested in finding a husband.
I feel like this is half-true. There‘s these girls and those girls. But you definitly don‘t have to be a good person to be popular as a teenager or in general even. As long as your confident and able to put others down effectively no one cares
I think the show's upcoming season will finally bring Nate to face the consequences of his actions. Throughout the previous seasons, we have seen Nate manipulate, lie, and hurt the people around him, and it's high time he pays for his wrongdoings. On the other hand, Maddy will finally have the opportunity to explore who she truly is without Nate. She has been in a toxic and controlling relationship with him, and it's time for her to break free and be her own person. I have no doubt that she will thrive and become stronger without him holding her back.
Maddy reminds me a little of the type of girl that people call the “Cheeto girl” but with a different filter, because she’s scary and has a fierce attitude but her morals are clear and never steps away from being loyal to her friends

I have SO many issues with Euphoria's writing, but Maddy's character is not one of those issues. She's very well written
Her and Rues characters are the most consistent to me
Tbh there’s a lot of things that I admire about Maddy but I wonder why it is pretty much forgotten that she willingly and knowingly took part in imprisoning a young innocent man for the sake of her abusive bf., seeing that dude going to jail for doing nothing stressed me out a lot and tbh with the way Sam levinson’s writing is looking, the dude will probably be rotting in jail forever
@@Imokayluv fr it's sad that people completely ignored that part
Maddy is the type of woman insecure girls would dream to be and I can relate
Yesss, I love watching her, she is an inspiration in the confidence department
Relatable!!
Yah I wanna act like her
I want yo have her confidence and be like her
TRUE
What I love about Maddy's character is that she does not treat others who are not as popular as her badly- she treats Rue and Jules well (they are obviously not the popular ones).
She ruined an innocent persons life
Uhh did you forget it was nate who did that to tyler? And if you look at it in a different perspective, it was statutory rape, she was a minor and he was in his early 20s. Yes it wasn't "rape" in a sense you think it is, but by law it was still rape. She didn't know that nate would do that to tyler. If she knew it in the first place. she wouldn't say to nate that she blacked out. Y'all are quick to defend cassie that she's a victim of nate's actions. Maddie was also a victim of nate, the treatment that maddie got from nate was much more worse than what cassie experienced from him.
she was also so nice with Lexi! Literally like the bigger sister Lexi needed
1. this made me realize how many queen bees in movies are blonde
2. another queen bee with a heart: Cher from Clueless (also blonde lol)
hjulien calloway from gossip girl
Blair wasnt blonde
Legally blonde too which literally had blonde in the title
That's another reason why Cassie makes a more fitting Queen Bee
The scene that made me love Maddy, weirdly enough, was the scene where Cassie is hiding in the bathroom after Maddy finds out about Cassie and Nate. Cause we all watched expecting Maddy to beat the shit out of Cassie. But what we got, was Maddy being really genuinely hurt, and it’s one of Sam Levinson’s better writing moments. It doesn’t make us feel like Maddy is weaker, but it makes her human, which is important, and it’s excellent work on the parts of both Alexa Demie and Sam Levinson
She did beat on Cassie a bit during that play though.
For me, it was when she babysat. I expected her to neglect her job and just exploit her employer. I'm very surprised that she's actually good and enjoying her job. Okay, she did snoop her employer's wardrobe, but at least she's really responsible.
@@Janeway1269 For trying to ruin Lexi's play and assaulting that poor actress.

Maddy is NOT a mean girl. She is sweet, fiercely loyal to her friends and kind. She is just mean with people who are mean to her.She had to be after growing up facing all the racism.
What about letting an innocent person rot in jail? 🤔
wtf she accused an innocent dude of rape and got his ass beat almost to death. I'm a Latina who's experienced racism and I've never even thought about doing anything like that. girl, gtfo with this lame ass excuse for toxic behavour.
She was a victim trying to protect her abuser
@@carolinpurayidom4570 she also acused an inocent guy of rape
I feel like this would be so generic
Yeah and that is why she is not Regina from Mean girls but they may not be close know her very but at least they aren’t enemies
i feel like shes a more realistic queen bee, at least from my experiences. the "cool girls" were hot, confident, and not mean, but just so confident that the shy people were intimidated and disliked her. also they were way more focused on their own friend group and lives rather than "bullying" other people like in the movies. most of the times, the "cool girls" didnt even know the names of other classmates, but all the classmates new the girls' names. thats the kind of vibe maddy gives.
The popular girls in my school were vicious bullies, very stereotypical too - they even enjoyed being mean. the difference between Maddie and other "Queen Bee" characters in other teen movies is: Maddie knows she is a queen so she is not afraid to share her crown to another queen. She is there for her bestfriends and she is loyal. That's because she's confident enough to be able to share the spotlight to other. She is not intimidated by being replaced.
She is gaining her worth and learning from her mistakes. That’s what matters
I feel like madly gets the short end of the stick in euphoria she more often than not has a storyline that revolves around Nate with very few insight outside of it. I hope next season she can finally have an independent storyline
Maddy*
i keep wondering what could they possibly give her in s3 though??
her storyline is that she comes to realize she's better without nate so I mean
I always think of this scene: When they're holding an intervention for Rue and she says she saw Cassie and Nate together. Cassie dismisses her and says she's crazy and a drug addict, but Maddy believes her and wants to hear her out.
That bathroom scene where Rue admits, nonchalantly, that she's in relapse (before correcting herself) tells you everything you need to know about Maddy and the rest of them. They all reacted with concern. I love how they actually feel human, and not just evil caricatures.
That's the type of Mean Girls I can get behind. It makes her less of a stereotype and more of a likable anti-hero.
"It must be exhausting always rooting for the anti hero"
@@cici.ngxenge Haha
Maddy clearly received no love from her parents, so sought it out through beauty pageants and a toxic relationship with Nate, since he made her feel special. Sadly, that's the trap that many people with abusive homelives fall into.
*pageant
One of the first thing we are told about Maddy "for as long as she could remembered, people loved her". Her parents seem fine enough, but they didn't get along and fought a lot (mentioned in Lexi's play). That probably affected their relationship with Maddy and distorted her views of relationship. Also; her dad being unemployed and her mother doing other people's nails must have influenced her in wanting a more fancy lifestyle (something Nate can provide)

No entendí nada. La puntuación existe, mija!
It’s hard to even consider Maddy a mean girl. She’s aggressive, straightforward, and confident but she’s not a bully.
You should do a video on Nate; how he embodies the toxic male jock stereotype and abuser, the origins of his toxic behavior and whether or not he's irredeemable.
I really liked the hints that we got that rue and her were friends like when rue was at cassies and Lexie’s house and everybody is at her house she walks in says “hey rue” and hugged her
She's my spirit animal. Everything I want to be. Cutthroat, ambitious, strong, but still sensitive and a very good human being to the core.
'Psychotic king crustlord' lmao
Maddy is such an inspirational character for young girls and women because she radiates confidence without being mean unlike previous confident women we have seen on screen
I'm too old to love this show, but Maddy represented the popular girls at my school in the UK. Not rich or particularly airheaded, but tough enough that they were terrifying and you just knew that they had a sh*t life at home.
i cant even lie, i want to be her in some aspects. shes strong and speaks her mind, she stands up for what she believes in and isn't afraid to tell people exactly what she thinks of them. she gets shit done and is confident in everything she does
Maddie is the sort of girl I could never be (I have a very different energy and persona in general) but could imagine ending up having a surprising but meaningful friendship - despite her control over her appearances she is such a genuine friend, a friend that so many people dream of
(Despite her flaws like every character has in euphoria!)
"She has more serious problems than a couple of unwanted pounds" - Regina is clearly implied to have an eating disorder but ok
Not only does Regina clearly have an ED but her family life is weird too, and she forces herself to date a guy she doesn't really love. She may be manipulative and a bad influence, but she has feelings as well...

She’s my favorite character ❤
i couldnt watch episodes with rue/ but couldnt wait for maddie's episodes
I can’t think of anyone better suited for this role 💕
Maddy isn't actually a mean girl, she's the victim, she found out her own best friend slept with her bf she had every single right to be mad
Mean girl is another phrase for the “popular girl”
Doesn’t she sleep around to though kinda seems like projection

I honestly don’t think Maddy is mean just in a toxic relationship
This is a great break-down of the Maddie character, very intelligent and sophisticated - thanks for creating!

And that’s why I love her ugh
Can you talk about Paris from Gilmour Girls? She was also a different type of a mean girl, being a nerd not a beauty queen.
5:32 I love her advice here, it really affected me positively
I heard a fan theory that Maddie low-key has a 4.0 GPA and I want it to be true so badly. I hope all of Maddy's dreams come true.
I LOVE MADDY
she doesn’t play into the queen bee trope but she does play into the spicy latina trope 😔

I don't see her as a queen B character
i love how Maddy is actually everything Veronica (riverdale) was supposed to be!!!!!!!!
Maddy is not a mean girl she is That Girl
My new quote in life is "outta sight, outta mind" like mood right?
I looooooved this video!!!
Omg, thank u ladies!! 😍😍😍
love Anya's take on this
I feel like this is half-true.
I really hope they cover the aftermath of her relationship with Nate and how it affected her
Maddy reminds me a little of the type of girl that people call the “Cheeto girl” but with a different filter, because she’s scary and has a fierce attitude but her morals are clear and never steps away from being loyal to her friends
