I’m no defender of Todd, but he has a relationship with this pastor. that pastor normally goes to preach/teach on tithing at Todd’s church, I think he kicks off their series on tithing. I’m sure you can find all of the previous times they used this exact message on UA-cam. I don’t think there’s anything to critique here

Gateway Church brings him over 200 Million Dollars a year in donations, he would be my Mentor as well. Prior to Todd's ministry exploding Pastor Robert Morris prayed over and prophesied over Pastor Todd. They've been in relationship for quite a few years. I didn't see the full sermon so I don't know if Todd credited Morris with the sermon. I would love if you could post Pastor Morris' response to the sermon. ❤

I am a voracious reader and own hundreds of books, and I may pull a quote, phrase, analogy or a story from what I'm studying to include in my presentation. I do not stop and cite every reference and book while I'm making my public presentation. I simply say that I read a story about...., I think it is perfectly fine for Todd to use the illustration he heard; preachers use illustrations all the time, we even have books on sermon illustrations to use. I think it's different to use a story or analogy in your message than copying the entire sermon. Copying the entire sermon would be plagiarism in my humble opinion.
I saw it as a sermon illustration and do agree that Mike Todd should have cited the originator. I did not see it as copying the sermon per se. Dr Tony Evans has an entire book of sermon illustrations with scripture reference.

Robert Morris has preached at Transformation church from his book several times. They know each other so if Morris isn’t offended why should we be?
