I took my wife on her first tour of this mine on our anniversary. She's a COOL lady that way. It was my second.I was asked by Frank if I wanted to take a load out. The mucking out process is nothing short of back breaking. I tip my hat to both Sharon and Frank for the sheer amount of work to get the museum up and running. My wife was left stunned at the amount of effort pulling all this rock out to display what we can now walk though. The displays both in in the mine and outside are world class. I was all too glad to give folks that sign. You gave us the gift of an unforgettable day in Grand Forks. We'll see you for a second and third time next year. Thanks again. Lindsey and Chris Edmonton.
Additions, going to see this one through. Frank, if this is any indication of your woodworking skills, I know you will have a hand in building your new home. Woodworking is a skill to have for life. Will there be any more surprises. Cool, so this ends all the work to safely go through this mine, awesome work. So, you'll be leveling that area, cool. So, is this going to end here, where you and Sharon go on further adventures, posting as you go.
I know that you guys put out videos weekly but I always forget (it sucks getting old) but what piss's me off is that you are never in my notifications. Anyways thanks for another great video
@@exploringabandonedmines Ya I have been sub'd for quite awhile now and never had a problem getting your notifications before its only in the last year or so but I will deal with it. You guys have been busy and also doing a great job
Absolutely amazing what you have achieved. What a fantastic job with the carpentry, beautiful sturdy ladders. It will be an awesome experience for visitors to the mine. Your enthusiasm and dedication to bring history to life and share this great adventure is commendable. Fabulous filming, thank you Frank and Sharon, With love and greatest respect for you both ❤👷🏻♂⛏👷🏻♀⛏ ❤.
Cool little finds at the top there, I'm guessing it didn't get mined further due to assay results, otherwise it'd have been cleaned out to. Has to feel good building things now, rather than digging out/removing. Looks good, great work both of you!!
6:39 should add another horizontal piece about head height and put some boards in there. That "crossing" to the other ladder is a bit of a risky spot, one moment's attention loss and you'd trip an fall. Probably a 10x10 (in cm) piece should suffice. That boring thing said... with the addition of ladders (the human element) gives a new perspective on the height of the whole place, massive. Cameras lie, by their nature, so while i had an idea (and when you guys would say this or that on heights) but now the ladders make it perfectly clear. Big place. :)) 9:30 that's probably the peak of the vein that they were following down under that level. Maybe this is the last portion (chronologically) of the mine???🤔
In my profession, it never ceases to amaze me people's ability to f things up. Our motto: never assume someone will not do X. Taking members of the general public up ladders like that? It's not a matter of if someone will fall to their death but when.
I would be down to come help dig, i will be passing by you guys in mid october so i could stop by for a day or 2. Would be cool to see the mine in person
if you really want to build ladders to last cut the rungs flush into the cheeks of the ladder then nail down a 1by over the top of all the rungs it really locks things in
Hello from Idaho we have tons of mine's up here. Just out of curiosity have you had the Yankee assayed. I'm just curious cuz it still looks like it has some good or veins inside of it. I know you said that you weren't doing this to mind and let you don't have the mineral rights but I was just curious
@@exploringabandonedmines curiosity I mean if I'm going to go spend a whole bunch of time and money building ladders clearing out Chutes and Stokes and risking my life to make a mine available to the public probably want to find out just out of curiosity what the mine would yield.
When youmade the latters out of 4X4 you did not expand the widtb cuttig down the foot area on the rungs! Making the laytets difficult tp navigate for your selves and the out of ballenced Public!!!!
Hello frank and sharon
Very Nice, thanks for sharing
2:02 OH! Proper notched ladders. Noice!!
Good stuff
Wow what a video can't wait till next Friday

@@exploringabandonedmines Sure has been an on going adventure, loved it.
Your ladders will definitely stand the test of time , beautifully over built , providing a sense of security , nice ! Excellent tour !
We agree!
Naa Franklin probebly have insurance till top of the ladder i guess
@@pieterdeboer5361 Insurance for sudden deceleration sickness??
Musta not got that wood at Home Depot, it’s all pretty straight and not twisted !😂
I so hope you guys do an advanced explore tour, sign a waiver , and were off, thanks for the update and congrats on the results of your hard work 😮
Yes we have a waiver
Nice Mine. If you live in the United states Osha would make you put a steel cage round the man way. An event at each level.
Can't believe I spotted that... 4:30, there's only one nail in the rung there.
Thanks we will fix that!
that dangling rock just freaks me out .frank
You guys are so awesome
Thank you Sharon & Frank another great video as always.
I'd used heavy duty gate hinges to attach those ladders together to keep the rungs inline.
I know that you guys put out videos weekly but I always forget (it sucks getting old) but what piss's me off is that you are never in my notifications. Anyways thanks for another great video

You keep hanging in the mines you may pack on branches and brush to make a nest and move in😁

I get to decide who goes up.
On that aborted level you could setup a couple camping spots for overnights, maybe even a drum circle so you could have drums in the deep.....
Franklin
If I had one tenth of Sharon's or Frank's energy, I would throw all mine away!
Make a bedroom or. Living room for when people coming stay.
I would be down to come help dig, i will be passing by you guys in mid october so i could stop by for a day or 2. Would be cool to see the mine in person
We are closing the mine for the season at the end of September.
Maybe you could carry on where they left.
Good grief! Are those ladders made with 4x4’s? No wonder they are heavy.
Green wood also!
When are you gonna run hydro into the mine?
We had power all the way back to break up rocks with the demolition hammer.
if you really want to build ladders to last cut the rungs flush into the cheeks of the ladder then nail down a 1by over the top of all the rungs it really locks things in
Do you guys sample the quartz veins that you find on those levels? I'm just curious. Thanks for the great videos!
No we aren't mining it.
Know any retired carpenters? Looks like you could use a hand with the woodwork. Lol.
well done guys have you ever sampled the bits of the ore they have left behind?
Why spend money to assay a mine if you don't own the mineral rights to it?

How much is it for the tour ?
$20 for adults $10 for kids under 12
@@exploringabandonedmines that's more than reasonable and helps offset the airfare 🤔🙌🏼✊🏼

it makes you put only one foot on each rung the proper way to climb a latter.
