@@walker1662I know. I’m just teasing. But he is setting up to catch with his glove turned sideways - the wrong way considering the tail on that two seam.
Simple adjustment for the catcher, first ditch the leg out stuff and just lock your heels down, toes pointed down the lines. Second when you relax your target show the back of your glove to the 3rd baseman, this brings your elbow in, looks better, but more importantly you won’t brake your thumb. If you can’t do that, just do what Varitek did, go look up his target.
@@thekey1682 I said "thank you for not bashing on the catcher" some of the comments here thinks it's really easy catching pro guys, I still have a tough time catching pro guys some times but that's the position
Well we need bullpen arms and platoon starters what with Gray, Eovaldi, Dunning and (probably) Montgomery coming back but there will be plenty of room during and after 2024.
I get that the pitcher has alot of movement, but theres no excuse for the catcher to miss this many pitches. It actually detracts from the videos ..get a better catcher
This is a great video. All tread videos should be required to be at least 50% pitching. Even if you want to discuss a topic you should overlay relevant pitching over it to illustrate the points being made. MOAR PICH!! But damn this shows the difference between a AAA pitcher and an MLB pitcher. Throwing strikes is hard.
Yeah bro but they're still not close to being major league ready. The one's that should, like Leiter, Kumar, White can't seem to put things together. And the one that was ready, Ragans, they traded for Chapman.
Wish these were edited to show the entirety of his motion in both views with full view of the pitch trace. Get my 10U, 11U, 12U guys together and see what they're doing or not doing as case may be.
When I played "serious" under 18 ball i caught for a kid named matt jakobov. He had at 17 an 89 mph sinker that he threw for strikes and nobody save a few could hit. It was like an inverse of his cutter very hard to catch even when I knew it was coming.
I HATE the UA-cam popup in the top right at the start of videos. Even though there is an X, its impossible to close and instead just takes me to the Ad. If they throw one more damn popup on a video, im done with this stupid app
Yes, a sinker, changeup, and 2 seamer can run left to right for a right hander, and switch for a left hander. The most dominant is probably Devin Williams changeup. Some people call it a screwball it's so filthy
The dude is 25, and has never thrown a major league pitch. His LIFETIME WHIP, across all levels, in 123 games, is 1.349. That ain't gonna get better in the Show. Nothing to see here, move along.
Buddy cut the catcher some slack, 1 he's probably still in HS who's never seen this much movement before, 2 this is probably his 1st time ever catching this pitcher so it's difficult, 3...sinkers 90+ are very difficult to catch
Yeah this dude's filthy. Hope to see him at the major league level soon. There's so much separation between his pitches.
I think your catcher might be left handed. Just saying…
in his defense the pitchers stuff is nasty
@@walker1662I know. I’m just teasing. But he is setting up to catch with his glove turned sideways - the wrong way considering the tail on that two seam.
It's going 94 and cutting 4 inches..... not easy to catch
That catcher is starting out in single A
are you seeing this guys stuff right now….

Thank you for not bashing on the catcher like everyone else, catching is very very difficult even when doing it for so long
They aren't "bashing" the catcher....they are just wondering why you have a triple A picture throwing to a highschool freshman catcher
@@thekey1682 I said "thank you for not bashing on the catcher" some of the comments here thinks it's really easy catching pro guys, I still have a tough time catching pro guys some times but that's the position
For completeness, here is a game of Varitek catching a righty.

Should call him lumberjack bc he’s gonna be making a lot of firewood in 2024
Love his body control.
Most guys today do a 180 and are halfway to 1B on their follow thru.
He stays on point the whole way. Nice to see.
Could not imagine catching for this guy…so impressive
I get that the pitcher has alot of movement, but theres no excuse for the catcher to miss this many pitches. It actually detracts from the videos ..get a better catcher
Probably a HS catcher who's never seen this much movement before, it's hard asf for me catching pro guys who I've never seen before with elite RPM
@@mitchellmight1894 fair enough
@@kidzbop38isstraightfire92I mean, it's fair, but they still should have a better catcher for a guy throwing like that.
2:48 is it the same pitch? the slowmo has cut fb spin
Yes, he benefits from seam shifted wake with his sinker:

More of this guy
Like the late movement. Looks like an athlete to me. Polish that protégé and you got a ML Moundsmen
Great pitches.
Tough day to be a catcher 😅
Is he mid or is the pitcher that good?

Natural movement with his velo. The rangers have a lot of young top Arms coming up in the future.

Y’all should do a breakdown on Ron Guidry, 5’11 161 lbs but when he was on he was a strikeout king!!!
hey, he's an absolute legend from my hometown in Louisiana! and from my Alma mater, Geaux Cajuns!
That sinker is nasty damn

My god...that Sinker is unreal
Whoever did
I think the catchers left handed …
It plays 😂
They have another good prospect pitcher throwing 95mph and better Leury Tavares it’s his turn up 🙌🇩🇴
That was awesome
hope the catcher has a cup on
Thats sick
The Rangers' catcher better have one of them floppy knuckle ball mitts
Seriously though that catcher is clearly left handed…
I thought a catcher was supposed to catch.
You know there’s movement when your pitcher has no clue where the ball is going.
Unbelievable 😊
If the catcher can’t catch it thank the batter is definitely not going to hit it
Catchers target is over his face, get that target more down bro. It’s less movement to go down. Pick a stance and stick with it.
his arm is glitching
That catcher couldn't catch a cold.......
"ur not that guy pal..ur not that guy"
Holy shit this catcher gots to go
Wow
What's hotter? That beard or his sinker?

No such thing as a left handed catcher in the big leagues
Hellen Keller behind the plate
You wanna catch pro guys? It's not as easy as it looks
just gon say WTF
they traded him to Cleveland
Traded at the end of March 👍
The pitcher has good stuff, but the catcher straight sucks. Any good catcher has no problem catching dude.

Filthy 😮💨
Frustrating to watch . Catch the ball . Pitcher dialed in ...
Uhh, this fellow seems to struggle finding the strike zone. Just saying pro hitters will figure that out pretty quick.
He had a 3.31 K/BB ratio in 2023. Command hasn't been an issue for him.
