    I love the Opera House and I think both of your photos show how beautiful it is but I think the monochrome keeps my focus on the amazing structure of the building and the tones. The colour one does have some gorgeous pinks and blues, though. I love long exposure; I started to use the technique after seeing your mate Brent Mail's videos many moons ago. Thank you for another great video. Totally inspiring.

      I absolutely love the black-and-white Opera house as well. It’s such a wonderful technique and totally agree. It’s great for things like buildings thanks for your comment and for watching.🙏🏽

    Great video Johny, I have to go with the B&W of the Opera House. I feel it really emphasizes the form and beautiful lines of the structure. Thanks for another good one.

    Aaargh hard to choose, B and W looks class, but love the subtle colour in the colour version, who doesn’t love that iconic bridge great long exposure, when I was there from the UK I didn’t own any 6 or 10 stoppers, so great ideas from your video

      Awesome mate thanks for the feedback glad you got a few tips long exposures are great way to photograph busy places where things are moving like the ferries because they can cross your camera and not do too much to the final photo. 🙏🏽

    I learned one good tip in such scenarios that is "Keep the ISO to 100 or any lower standard". This helps a lot to avoid Over Exposed regions and smoother shots.

    • @JohnyJSpencer
      @JohnyJSpencer  6 місяців тому

      The main reason you use a low iso is to keep noise down in your photos but don’t be afraid to bump the iso up if you need to have the aperture and shutter locked down to certain value to balance your exposure. Noise reduction in Lightroom and with plugins like topaz are amazing these days for cleaning up noise. Thanks for watching 🙏🏽

    Both Colour pics for me !
    PS : Haven't tried much Long Exposure stuff, but will have to look into "Magnetic Filters" . . . look easier to work with.

    I prefer the B&W of the Opera House. Love the harbour bridge just wish you waited till November when I am in Sydney for a week. Can you tell me where you were standing to take these two shots? Any advice for settings Johny as I dont have a 10 stop filter!

      Settings wise just the usually landscape settings f8-f14 low iso 2 sec timer and just adjust the shutter speed to balance the exposure. You will just need to shoot in between the ferries.

    How come the boats passing in front of the opera house are not showing up in the image?

    • @JohnyJSpencer
      @JohnyJSpencer  4 місяці тому

      Great question it’s because of the long exposure mate this works great in busy tourism locations as well as long as the people are moving they won’t show up in the photo. Now once it’s gets dark the light of the boat will start to show up, just like long exposure of cars the cars disappear but the lights streak along the road. Thanks for watching. 🙏🏽

    Hi Johnny, I love your videos but surprisingly nobody has written a comment concerning the glaring edges especially at the left side of the opera house. Will you fix this in Lightroom or do you take it as it comes out of camera? What do you think about that?

    • @JohnyJSpencer
      @JohnyJSpencer  6 місяців тому +1

      Thank you for your comment. I think what you might be seeing is something that’s only showing up on the video. Anyway check out this link and you’ll be able to see the actual pictures in a higher resolution. Let me know if you’re still seeing that issue. Hi Johny. Love your videos and beautiful images, thank you. Two questions if you don’t mind? 1) what 10 stop filter do you use? It seemed to be magnetic rather than screw in? 2) what is the app you’re using on your phone. Thanks again, and B&W for my vote!

    • @JohnyJSpencer
      @JohnyJSpencer  6 місяців тому

      Hello there and thank you for your feedback. The magnetic filters are from a brand called Kase handsdown my favourite filters I’ve ever used. And the app was from Sony called capture, but most camera manufacturers will have a similar app for their cameras. Hope that helps. Thanks again for watching. 🙏🏽
