    I have done many craft festivals where I sell either my finished crochet projects or sell hand dyed yarn. It is not easy. Just hang in there and keep trying. I have learned that it is better to vend at craft centered festivals, where most if not all vendors are selling handmade / handcrafted items. I have vended at non-craft fairs and I wasn't very successful. But you've got this girl. Don't give up. 💜

    Although you did not make a lot of money, I still think the net loss was a gain in many ways. I think it's very brave to put yourself out there especially selling your own products and you did that. You also got experience on booth location and what may or may not sell... all this done when sick. As you said, it only goes up from here. Best wishes on your future markets. 🥰

    Working out what people will buy is one of the hardest parts of selling. I pretty much gave up and just do all commissions and repairs now 😂 I'm a jeweller, it's far too expensive to make gold rings with no guarantee someone will buy it.

    very interesting. makes sense that you wouldn’t sell so much if there were food vendors right next to you. I know when I go to different events I either go specifically for crafts for specifically for food. When we went to the halal festival in Toronto there were lots of modest clothes being sold but I only got food because thats what I was there for. But when I went to the festival in royal oak it was all artist so I got different crafts and artsy things.

    I personally have never worked specifically as a craft seller, but as an anime convention art seller I have to say, please do your best not to say "I like your skirt it will pair well with coasters" it can work in some instances (like if you both are already in a playful joking mood) but most of the time it feels like you're trying to convince them to buy your and they can tell. And then the customer if they aren't interested feels strange and awkward when they they have to turn the product down. Most people are just shy and a simple hello and introducing them to the booth and your work is good. And if you do want to alert them of one of your items be gentle about it, not suggesting they buy it but letting them know it exists. For example "I love your pink skirt, pink is such a pretty colour that's why I encoperate it into so many of my items, like my coasters" . I know it's tricky and a lot of mind games but trust me, as someone who frequents these booths there's nothing that will shoo me away faster than a pushy seller.
