- Having a pantry with food brings peace and security. Our lives can change in an instant and it is important to be ready for anything that comes our way. It could be a natural disaster, job loss, government shutdown, illness...Having a pepper pantry is like having money in the bank. It is important for everyone to have some extra food at home.

Yes keep doing these videos!! So important, thank you!
Will do! I feel it is important too and not enough people are paying attention
I really like Aldi's organic diced tomatoes and organic salsa...very good products.
I am so thank fun there is an Aldi in my city. I am able to buy high quality ingredients, mostly their organic line, that would cost a lot more at other grocery stores.
We’re eating peanut butter that is almost a year past the BB date and it’s perfectly fine. We use the Costco brand that is natural and organic. We love it too!😊
Good to know! thanks for sharing this!
This is my first time here and I like your message,
especially with your endorsement of my soup and stew plan. About half of our pantry is chunky soups and stews. As you mentioned, these
can be stretched into feeding multiple people at little cost and without changing their flavor much. The ole beans and rice don't appeal to me much alone, but when added to an existing pot meal, they can go a long way.
A trick of mine since I'm not a great fan of stand-alone rice is to save the juices from canned fruit and use that to cook your rice, which really sweetens things up.
Oh wow, that is a really good idea I have never heard of, Richard. I am so glad you shared this. I always learn so much from the comments and am thankful people like you take the time to comment.
I love these videos. I’ve missed them! I got my pantry started because of you!
I am so glad to hear this! It gives such peace knowing that you're ok in case anything happens.
I think this information is a good reminder of how fast the shelves were depleted during COVID. Within 2 days of lockdown I couldn’t believe how fast the food and water were gone !!!
I agree!! It proved to us what can happen and it feels better to just have things in our homes in case anything like that ever happens again.
Try to have a fever reducer, an allergy medication, and basic first aid kit, and a manual can opener if you normally use an electric type.
Great tips! Having basic medicine and first aid is sooo important!
@@sandysteinbrook I left off the recommendation for digestive meds, but having something for heartburn/acid reflex/indigestion and gas/bloat diarrhea/constipation is also important especially if people get stomach sick from stress. And if the food is a dietary change it may affect them. The other suggestion store vitamin c/multivitamin/ vitamin d
There's a lot of sodium in it, but I like keeping a couple of cases of Ramen Noodles. Cheap, easy to fix, and it fills you up. Definitely keep 5-10 gallons of water on hand as well.
I have heart problems so I just use the Raman noodles, throw away the flavor packet & add low sodium chicken broth & a few spices. It’s different but still very good, & healthier for me.
@@wifigrannyl.1354 , good idea!
Hey...if it comes down to needing food, we aren't going to care if it has a lot of sodium. Its about eating.
The sodium is all in the flavor packet. If it bothers you, 1:14 then dont use the whole thing and save the rest for seasoning something else! You could also try other seasonings that aren't salt based.
Good stuff! My mom has been doing this since I can remember. She doesn’t store this, & I’ve nvr had it but breakfast food like powdered milk & cereal.🤷🏼♀️
My mom always had plenty in the pantry also...we never called it anything special, like a pepper pantry back then. Lol.
I loved seeing this video as I first found you from your videos like this. Was hoping you won’t give up on trying to spread the word to those that have no clue what’s going on! Keep up the good work ❤
Hello! Thank you for sticking with me. I felt like I could help people in another way also by doing videos to help people lose weight and get healthier. I do believe that there are still many that have no clue what is going on.
🎉🎉yes we need it
Excellently presented, thank you.
Thank you for saying that!
Already prepared!! Food, ways to cook food(fire pit with grates), firewood, wood stove in house to keep warm and land(not a lot but enough) to live off of. My husband could live in a shack with no electricity and 100% survive, live off the land and love every minute of it!!!!Me, well, not so much lol, wouldn’t look forward to it but I would survive. I’m not a big game eater but I would eat it if I had to, eat a little now. No matter if we don’t need all of this mentioned, we would have it anyway because it makes my husband happy.
Yeah, I am like you...my husband could totally live off the land, me....not so much either. Lol. BUT, at least I know we would be ok by having things prepared. I would not be stressed out. I know because of preparing, we would be fine.
It's a good idea to experiment a little bit to see if your family will eat "survival food" in an emergency. For instance, Campbell's Chunky Soup poured over rice with a canned vegetable makes a nice meal. One can of soup and one can of vegetables with a cup of rice will feed a family of four.
Another possibility is to cut SPAM into little cubes and fry it with seasoning and/or onion and finish with diced potatoes from a can. (Used to do this for breakfast on car camping trips).
A third possibility is canned chicken or turkey, canned whole potatoes, a can of vegetables, and a package of gravy. Three cans and a pouch of gravy is a meal for four.
Important thing is to come up with combinations that work so that you have a few options and are not left with just a can of beans. Goes without saying that every one should have at least one manual can opener stored in the pantry.
Thanks for bringing up this subject.
Great ideas....thank you!
I prepare because I will never forget my husband and I at the store at the beginning of the pandemic. We were trying to get some things for our grandchildren since they were out of school, us and 50 other people in the same wiped out aisle. I told myself that would never happen to me again. Thank you for the video.
Agree. Being prepared brings peace and knowing you won't be at the store as shelves are wiped out if/when any thing like that will happen again.
Great tips, I’m going to do this. It’s always good to be prepared and this is not hard. THANK YOU!
I am glad it was helpful. Thank you for letting me know!
Ever since Katrina, that left Vicksburg, MS without power for 3 weeks; game changer. Old oil lamps with extra wicks and oil, campstove coffee perk with ground coffee, box dry milk, flashlights/batteries, charcoal grill with extra charcoal/lighters, campstove extra propane bottles, top off gas in car for charging phones, air conditioner reprieve, emergency, pet food supply, wet ones for hygiene, bug spray, solar power👍, patriot generator(portable). Books! How to do yourself. Just bought Preppers Medical Manual. Tractor Supply usually got great books and information stand. Don’t forget gloves, boots, extra socks, underwear. When nothing is open and your car running on fumes(lines to get gas and you are only allowed 20 dollars worth). It gets real🙏
From someone with experience...your tips are invaluable! Thank you for taking the time to share this!
Thank you much for making this video so simple 🎉🎉❤🎉❤. I am going to take your advice
I am glad this was helpful! Thank you for letting me know.
We get lentils and tuna from Costco. Sunflower butter is a good substitute for peanut butter. Great info Sandy you look amazing. God bless
Thank you! And, thank you for the added tips. I have never tried sunflower butter. I am going to have to buy that sometime.
great video! Thank you for the ideas
I am so glad it was helpful!
I always add dry milk and instant coffee.
Very good ideas!
Our state preparedness department tells us to have at least 2 Weeks of food water n meds.
In case of natural or man-made disaster , it may take government a couple of weeks to get utilities up an running.
At the very least it gives you time to figure out what you'll need to do, like go looking for more food n water or possibly bug out to another location that's got more resources.
Thank you for sharing!
Famine and feast. Trouble is many people have got this out of balance, all feast and no famine. Tinned oily fish is good but not in sunflower oil but preferably in freshwater or at a push brine, tinned tomatoes, fermented foods like sauerkraut. I tend not to store any foods now that aren't low carb. Most are wheat/gluten based and highly inflammatory.I still have a bag of pasta but it must be years old and I should really throw it out. Pickled onions, beetroot. Since I started low carb I tend to eat fresh whole foods and cook from scratch. if the power goes off I have several very good camping stoves that I can use which cook beautiful meals. I have a stock of gas canisters. But this is a worthwhile video. Many thanks.
And may thanks to you, Alex, for sharing your ideas! They are really good tips!
Thanks Sandy. I generally keep a supply of some of the items you mentioned, but I could do more. Every year I start out the summer with the best intentions of canning local produce, but invariably something comes up that thwarts my plans and I get very little done. After watching your video I am determined to get some fruits and veggies on my shelf this year.
@@cherylkoehl5694 , good for you. I think you will feel so much peace by doing so.
Great info as usual...pet foods
you're right...pet food is very important!
Would you do a pantry tour?
If that would be helpful, I will do one!
What if the power is off. How do you cook? I wonder if we could come up with alternatives. Peanut butter is a good start. Maybe keep bread in the freezer and you can eat sandwiches. I always have jams, jellies and honey.
Sandy made a great video on portable gas stoves that can be used indoors. I think the video is called “The top item you need right now”.
Beverly, this is a great item to purchase...its on Amazon and is a life saver for $25, if needing to cook. Here is the video I did on how to use it.

@@sandysteinbrook also I am looking at portable power stations. You have them charged up for small appliances.
@@beverlywalker4111 , have you ever seen any of the solar generators? They are a little bit pricey, but they work great.
@@sandysteinbrook I have seen those. Some charge by electricity or solar. Pretty cool. Nice to have options, just in case. Thanks for this video. We all need to be prepared and updated at times as things change.
You mention peanutbutter and right on Q the pup walks into the room 🤣🤣🤣
Haha apparently Josie likes coconut oil more than peanutbutter!! Lol 😄
This made me laugh out loud!
@@sandysteinbrook haha. It was too cute!!!
I want your earrings lol😅so cute
Thank you! Lol. they came from TJMaxx
Good advice but dont forget pet food, pets need to eat too.
Very true! We love our dog dearly and could never watch her go hungry. Thank you for sharing this.
Canned chicken is awful.
Lol. It is, but in case of an emergency, it will be fine.
I forgot the most important thing you will want to have is your Bible🙏
Agree!!
