NO SPOILERS As the showrunners on the show changed, the seasons storytelling changed. Some people couldn't handle it and quit watching, missing out on some great stuff (some of my favorite character storylines were in seasons a lot of people didn't like due to perceived weak or scattered plotlines). Here is a sort of list of showrunner changes. (Note, there were hard resets between S7-8 and S11-12 so it can feel a bit abrupt but there's great stuff anyway). Seasons 1-5 deal with one overall plotline. Seasons 6-7 follow another overall plot. Seasons 8-10 follow assorted plots but some major character development archs. Seasons 11-12 show some major expansion to the SPN universe which then blends into the final seasons 13-15 section. There are definitely some slow spots in the mid to late series seasons but the central plot which is always the Winchesters relationships and personal development still shines through the iffy stuff. As long as you stay focused on them you will get through and enjoy the ride!

But man oh man my top 5 for shows of all time. Couldn’t believe this show was on back in like 06. I watched all 15seasons back in 2018 or so. Not gone say all the seasons are good but for sure just love the story telling I’m this show along with the creativity to just take you on a side quest for an episode then back onto the main story line. Supernatural is my absolute favorite show. You automatically get a subscribe if you start it. Interested in seeing how people respond to the journey. The aging comment made me laugh, because you are talking about a man who looks 1000x better today than he did 17 years ago, and he was beautiful. Jensen definitely managed some supernatural aging spell. He actually was 26 when filmed, I think, 27 on air. The pilot is very strong. It sets up the show well. The fire at the end was real, and while wildly dangerous I think you feel the intensity. Jensen was genuinely freaked at how hard Jared was fighting, and was trying to pull him out. If you are watching on Netflix the music is not the original music in season 1. It came out at the start of streaming, so music rights were bought for the DVDs, but not streaming, so if you want a list of changes I can get those. A lot of AC/DC was in the original music for this episode. Season 2 on it isn't affected. I have seen probably a dozen reactors do the pilot, you are fiest to even consider the article, so props on the details. These are just a few of my favorite notes for the pilot.

So the first few seasons are kinda a contained storyline with a ‘monster of the week’ and after season 5 they go into different stories. So if you wanna take a break that would be the place to do it. And yes, it is JDM
if you're an og x-files fans, you might recognize a lot of the actors, cinematography, and storylines. Many of the guest cast and crew came from x-files and the creator of Supernatural stated he was heavily influenced by it (I think the original premise of the show was basically x-files meets syfy's the chronicle from the early 2000s).

FINALLY SPN REACTION I know that reacting to extra stuff AFTER the show is your thing but PLEASE reconsider reacting to bloopers after every season. You can do it in the same video as a recap if you think it would affect your schedule. Supernatural has the best bloopers of any show that I have watched and they help you to get to know the actors. And around season 4-5 I would even suggest watching supernatural conventions (ask someone to help you choose videos to avoid spoilers). “Real world” is an important part of supernatural watching experience. It will help you understand inside jokes and references in the series. There even is one episode (quite early in the show) that will not make much sense if you won’t know anything about behind the scenes. Trust me you will not regret watching convention compilations they are very entertaining. But I understand if you want to leave it for after the show. HOWEVER, bloopers should be watched after each season.

I have two Supernatural tattoos. My dog is named after a character you will meet later in the series. I told my husband (Sam) if we ever have a son we are naming him Dean! A few (or more) things: I’m sure someone else has already confirmed this, but that IS Jeffrey Dean Morgan. Think of season one as the character- and story-building season, and season two as the lore-building season. Some hunting techniques from season one don’t necessarily… stick around 😅 Yes, there is a definite shift in tone after season 5. Eric Kripke originally planned for 5 seasons and ended his term as showrunner with the end of s5. IMO, 6 and 7 are the worst seasons, despite actually having some of my favorite episodes and character introductions. Everyone has their own feelings about them, but I’d rather watch even the worst seasons of Supernatural before I watch almost any other show. The fire in the beginning and ending scenes was actual fire because apparently things were WILD in 2005! When streaming, the music in the first season (and only the first season) is NOT what originally aired. Basically, they didn’t account for the existence of streaming services when the first season was made, so the streaming music rights were weren’t included in the contracts and other songs had to be dubbed over the originals. The only way to watch it with the original soundtrack is on DVD. I highly recommend going back and watching with the original music sometime, because it significantly elevates a lot of scenes. The original songs from this episode were: -Eagles of Death Metal, Speaking in Tongues (plays when the guy stops for the hitch-hiking Woman in White) -The Allman Brothers Band, Ramblin' Man (plays when Dean and Sam are at the gas station) -AC/DC, Back in Black (plays after Sam finds Dean's cassette collection) -AC/DC, Highway to Hell (plays when Dean says "Saved your ass")
New show woo hoo! I only saw the first 6 seasons of SPN and then I stopped. Been meaning for years to get back into it so I'll try with you. I recently rewatched the first 3 seasons I think, so once you're up to season 4 I will have to start watching again. I'll prob. end up falling behind but that's okay. My pilot thoughts from my recent rewatch: The first episode was so fun, I remembered parts of it from the first time I saw it and I loved seeing Dean and Sam again. I love their relationship and the eery vibe of the show is so great, I love creepy stuff. I do think the pilot got a bit slow near the end, but it was still good. I'd probably rate it a high 7 or low 8. Jensen is SO young and his voice is so squeaky here too lol. (at least, for him) Personally I was always a Sam girl. Love JDM, he is so good in every role that he's in!
One of the best shows. So glad you’re part of the community. The pilot episode with the woman in white, Sam and Dean being reunited to look for their father will always be remembered as the one that started it all.
What a crazy show. Some ups and downs but there are so many ups that this show is so worth it. Very excited for this. You can take breaks between show runners I guess - s1-5, s6-7, s8-11, s12-15.
I am OBSESSED with 'SPN'. Hubby and I are on our second go round. We watched two episodes a day, five days a week and flew through it. Now we're doing 2-3 a week and taking it slow. The only thing I would suggest is that you do the bloopers after each season. There is one for every season, and since there are 15 seasons, you might forget what happened in the earlier seasons, for context.

This show is my favorite show! I’ve watched this whole series so many times now I could probably recite every episode by heart, lol.. I wish that you would consider watching the gag reels after you’ve finished each season (instead of waiting to watch them all at the end of the series) because it really shows you the true dynamic between Jared and Jensen and you will love the show even more after seeing just how close these two guys are irl! They truly are like brothers and it shows when you watch the gag reels. They are both so hilarious too, and you really grow to appreciate the humor in the show more after watching how they are behind the scenes. I just know it truly made watching the show 1,000 times more enjoyable when I watched the gag reel after each season I finished. Starting this playlist now so I can catch up! @@huchlvr I said 6 changes gears because it does, understandably they had to recalibrate for how to continue past Kripke's 5 season arc. I never said it was bad (I think it's a great foundation for the rest of the run and honestly I enjoy s7 overall as well), I'm talking about the "fans" who like to tell people they should just quit watching after s5 because nothing can top those seasons. That always felt insulting and dismissive to s6 (as the next season) to me when it's pretty great in its own right. Otherwise those people would include 6 in their recommendation.

Now that you are beginning this, I want to give you one BIG advice.. if at one point you get a little tired, just take a break.. I enjoyed the show and sometimes I see some reaction of season 4-5 (that are my favourites) and then some episode of the next seasons... what I don't like is that a lot of reactors, after 7/8 seasons, get tired of whatching it but they keep going anyways without taking a break, and at that point I feel like they feel almost forced to keep going for the subscribers.. I can't say that I'm part of the supernatural fandom (but I will rewatch the entire show with you becouse I like it), but I think that they would prefer to see a reactor taking a break for even a mounth or two and then coming back with the same interest of the previous season, than to see a reactor beeing almost forced to keep going.. I know you do only shows that you know you can enjoy, but I wanted to give you that advice anyway..
Welcome to SPN! It's a shame you're watching on netflix and not the blurays - Season 1 has all the commercial music replaced with library music. Think of season one as the character- and story-building season, and season two as the lore-building season. Some hunting techniques from season one don’t necessarily… stick around 😅
Yes, there is a definite shift in tone after season 5. Eric Kripke originally planned for 5 seasons and ended his term as showrunner with the end of s5.
IMO, 6 and 7 are the worst seasons, despite actually having some of my favorite episodes and character introductions. Everyone has their own feelings about them, but I’d rather watch even the worst seasons of Supernatural before I watch almost any other show.
The fire in the beginning and ending scenes was actual fire because apparently things were WILD in 2005!
When streaming, the music in the first season (and only the first season) is NOT what originally aired. Basically, they didn’t account for the existence of streaming services when the first season was made, so the streaming music rights were weren’t included in the contracts and other songs had to be dubbed over the originals. The only way to watch it with the original soundtrack is on DVD. I highly recommend going back and watching with the original music sometime, because it significantly elevates a lot of scenes.
The original songs from this episode were:
-Eagles of Death Metal, Speaking in Tongues (plays when the guy stops for the hitch-hiking Woman in White)
-The Allman Brothers Band, Ramblin' Man (plays when Dean and Sam are at the gas station)
-AC/DC, Back in Black (plays after Sam finds Dean's cassette collection)
-AC/DC, Highway to Hell (plays when Dean says "Saved your ass")

New show woo hoo! I only saw the first 6 seasons of SPN and then I stopped. Been meaning for years to get back into it so I'll try with you. I recently rewatched the first 3 seasons I think, so once you're up to season 4 I will have to start watching again. I'll prob. end up falling behind but that's okay.
My pilot thoughts from my recent rewatch:
The first episode was so fun, I remembered parts of it from the first time I saw it and I loved seeing Dean and Sam again. I love their relationship and the eery vibe of the show is so great, I love creepy stuff. I do think the pilot got a bit slow near the end, but it was still good. I'd probably rate it a high 7 or low 8.
Jensen is SO young and his voice is so squeaky here too lol. (at least, for him) Personally I was always a Sam girl.
Love JDM, he is so good in every role that he's in!
One of the best shows. So glad you’re part of the community. The pilot episode with the woman in white, Sam and Dean being reunited to look for their father will always be remembered as the one that started it all.
What a crazy show. Some ups and downs but there are so many ups that this show is so worth it. Very excited for this. You can take breaks between show runners I guess - s1-5, s6-7, s8-11, s12-15.

I am OBSESSED with 'SPN'. Hubby and I are on our second go round. We watched two episodes a day, five days a week and flew through it. Now we're doing 2-3 a week and taking it slow.
The only thing I would suggest is that you do the bloopers after each season. There is one for every season, and since there are 15 seasons, you might forget what happened in the earlier seasons, for context.

Just for your info, not sure if it was explained, Dean shot the Lady in white with rock salt bullets which can stop spirits momentarily. But you’ll get plenty knowledge of how to ward off creatures as you keep watching 😉😉

This show is my favorite show! I’ve watched this whole series so many times now I could probably recite every episode by heart, lol.. I wish that you would consider watching the gag reels after you’ve finished each season (instead of waiting to watch them all at the end of the series) because it really shows you the true dynamic between Jared and Jensen and you will love the show even more after seeing just how close these two guys are irl! They truly are like brothers and it shows when you watch the gag reels. They are both so hilarious too, and you really grow to appreciate the humor in the show more after watching how they are behind the scenes. I just know it truly made watching the show 1,000 times more enjoyable when I watched the gag reel after each season I finished. Starting this playlist now so I can catch up! I hope you’re enjoying the show so far! ☺️❤️🙌🏼
So excited this is finally happening. I’ll never understand all the hate s6 gets. Yes, the show changes gears some but it has some of my all-time favorite episodes. It’s s12 that’s a real slog for me.
No no, S6 is good if you look at it as a whole. Everything coalesces at the end. It's S7 that sucks for the most part.
@@huchlvr I said 6 changes gears because it does, understandably they had to recalibrate for how to continue past Kripke's 5 season arc. I never said it was bad (I think it's a great foundation for the rest of the run and honestly I enjoy s7 overall as well), I'm talking about the "fans" who like to tell people they should just quit watching after s5 because nothing can top those seasons. That always felt insulting and dismissive to s6 (as the next season) to me when it's pretty great in its own right. Otherwise those people would include 6 in their recommendation.

Now that you are beginning this, I want to give you one BIG advice.. if at one point you get a little tired, just take a break.. I enjoyed the show and sometimes I see some reaction of season 4-5 (that are my favourites) and then some episode of the next seasons... what I don't like is that a lot of reactors, after 7/8 seasons, get tired of whatching it but they keep going anyways without taking a break, and at that point I feel like they feel almost forced to keep going for the subscribers.. I can't say that I'm part of the supernatural fandom (but I will rewatch the entire show with you becouse I like it), but I think that they would prefer to see a reactor taking a break for even a mounth or two and then coming back with the same interest of the previous season, than to see a reactor beeing almost forced to keep going.. I know you do only shows that you know you can enjoy, but I wanted to give you that advice anyway..

Welcome to SPN! It's a shame you're watching on netflix and not the blurays - Season 1 has all the commercial music replaced with library music. So you missed out on some quality music cues this ep - like AC/DC for instance. Season 2 onwards the music is on it though. (Let me know if you want the bluray version ;) )
