I pulled out this footage from 2 years ago at Gracie barra Ottawa that I never got to edit. Sometimes I can get buried with footage and thats why it can take so long for me to edit and release some videos!

Easy to see how Yusuf became so skilled. He is a great sparring partner: excellent control, thinks through his game and his opponent’s game, focuses on form over speed and strength, no negative ego, and can laugh while being serious. This means he can train with anyone in a gym safely and productively.

Hey man, I love the slo-mo addition but please, don't leave out the commentary. It's the thing that helps me the most to improve on my fighting awareness, the build up of the technics, which kicks are for distracting and feinting and the ones are supposed to land, the thought process of how the fight is devolpling in first person... those are the things that really make the difference between your chanel and the rest, and it's thanks to them that I'm able to follow all the small details that can change the course of a fight. I love your chanel, keep it up!

Awesome session Jeff. While it was 2 years ago you have definitely grown a lot as a fighter since then. It would be interesting to see you spar with him again now. Hopefully everybody takes note here. Adapting in the middle of a fight like Jeff does here when he started to stand his ground more the match went better for him. That's a sign of true mastery in martial arts.

Yes, the uninterrupted slowmo footage is great! It's great both from the standpoint of enjoyment and engagement with the video, as well as when you actually want to learn something from it. I feel the urge to pause the video and go frame by frame much less often. Great idea and great job :) But your voice commentary is always appreaciated. It increases the learning value, so I would not cut that part.

There are many things that set professional fighters a league above, but the one thing that stands out is the efficiency and precision of movement.
It takes so much skill and confidence in your own ability to only make necessary moves and to stay protected with just enough movement, but not too much.
Incredible job though. The fact that you can even hang as much as you did is insane.

Really awesome sparring! Your partner Yousef is extremely fast and seems to know exactly where he's going ahead of time!
You can tell he puts a lot of effort into not hurting his partner despite the speed and he is great at catching kicks and using those teaps for spacing.
You maintain your composure real well against that flurry, it would be really easy to just get scared and start swinging for the fences and you kept running your game plan and switching it up and keepin cool.
Impressive on all fronts Jeff. Thx again

Thanks for the video! The slow-mo style is nice, but as others have already written your commentary about what is happening and what you are thinking in the moment is what sets the videos apart. It seemed as the Bellator fighter was able to read a great deal of your manuvers; however the sparring was done slowly. Mr Chan your technique and abillity is outstanding. I am so pleased that you release the sparring and the fact that you observe the sparring as it should be. I truly believe there are few poeple like yourself that are willing to admit their perfected techniques and their weaknesses alike. You are so open minded. I have a difficult time believing competitors like yourself are not completely self centered. I admire your integrity, love for the sport and willingness to share.

Jeff, bro, we all get outclassed by those who's bigger, faster, smarter, better footwork, better movements, better strikes and blocks, and that's what makes us stronger and better, to learn our own mistakes and practice to make it better. And l know you have learn here. Great video session bro, keep it up 💪🥊👍

I like the slowed down strikes, easier for me to see what is happening without having to stop and rewind frequently.

That's a beautiful facility! Great work as always. Idk how I feel about the slow down speed, I kinda like to see strikes land at regular speed

The point for point breakdown is great for an official sanctioned match, especially if it goes to a decision. These shorter videos work great with the slow mo!

Yuh, those slow downs are dope indeed. A little breakdown before or something is dope too, but doesn't have to be on each and every exchange.. just slowing them down to showcase it works. I mean it feels good to watch for me at least. : )

IDK about the slow mo, maybe save it for the near misses. I prefer to see the exchanges unfold in real time and hear your analysis over the top. Your sparring analysis is probably the best, most concise on UA-cam and it's one of the main reasons I keep coming back to your channel

Slow mo technique very good but don't stop ur in depth stop motion analysis, go 4 a combo, slow mo 4 good techs in the fight and your usual stop motion analysis 4 stand out techniques during the fight✊. Keep up the gr8 content, much love from Africa Eswatini (Swaziland)

Just chiming in to say I would prefer more commentary. As someone who's still relatively new to Muay Thai it helps me catch some of the nuances I might otherwise miss.

Great footage, Yusuf looks super sharp in this session. I'll be honest, I found the constant snapping into slow motion to be distracting. I think I'd prefer to see the exchange at full speed first, with the slow motion highlight repeated after. In terms of videography, I think using multiple methods of highlighting important sequences (zoom, slow mo, VFX/overlays, rewinds, etc) makes for a more interesting viewing experience. I hope I don't sound critical, I enjoyed the footage and I love your channel. Just wanted to offer some constructive feedback.

Awesome. Trying to land shots on a bigger guy is extremely hard. I find myself constantly having to work harder to find an opening without taking punishment on the way in but once on the inside I can get some shots off and it feels good 😂
