I’m also a warm spring, I think I can get away with some accents in burgundy and maybe a pair of trousers but keep it away from my face, it makes me look dull 😂
I'm a warm spring also and had already gotten rid of all my burgundy tops. I like the color but it does not look good on me. A bag, pants, or shoes would be fine but I'll just stick with another color I prefer.
Yeah, it really does depend on your undertone which burgundy will work, if at all. I tend to think that colors will work for most people, but keep an eye out for undertone. I am light blonde witha pink undertone to my fair skin. Tomato red isn’t great for me but a cool violet base burgundy does work.
The name Burgundy really refers to red wines from the area in France, and if you pour yourself glasses of different wines from that area they will have different colours of dark red, so no wonder the colour Burgundy in clothes differs too😍 Being a Bright Winter I have gotten myself a beautiful long coat, a pair of shoes and a shirt/jacket in the cooler version of the colour. I love pairing these items with cool strong pinks, poppy red, lime green, light cool yellow and white. I'm not trying to blend in😅 Thank you Sarah for a brilliant video🙏 As always it's very inspiring🥰
I have always stayed away from burgundy as any version of it looks completely wrong on me. Since I recently found out I am a warm spring (thanks to Sarah!), it now makes sense why it never worked. :)
Cool burgundy pairs well with cool navy. Instead of black, a charcoal gray works better. The charcoal gray and a warmer, brown burgundy work for Dark Autumn.
I love burgundy, but I think it's tricky to find the right burgundy in stores. I'm a cool winter, and my ideal burgundy has a very obvious cool undertone and is on the clearer/more saturated end. I rarely buy burgundy clothing online as they often turn out to be too brown - and that does my skin *no* favours. I quite like mixing a berry burgundy with navy or grey, but I also think burgundy and pink is surprisingly attractive. A cool burgundy is also lovely with petrol green/teal.
As a winter, it's a staple in my closet. Long and short-sleeves. Even a pair of cords! LIght grey looks elegant, but only if the texture is soft like a cashmere sweater. Even though winters are good in white, cream or eggshell can look classy. Don't worry Springs. We endured Peach Fuzz.
@sarahryanthestylecoach Their deep green could be a leaf green as well. Their sky blue could be warm turquoise or aqua as well. Bright terracotta and turquoise look splashy and tropical like lava by the sea. Beautiful contrasts. 😊
It’s one of my favourite colours, but as a Bright Spring (who also wears Bright Winter and Light Spring colours), this just isn’t in my wheelhouse. I don’t really miss wearing it but like seeing it in home furnishings, home accessories, and on people it suits! Thanks for the update! Xx
You use the same seasonal palettes that I do in the same way, but I wear burgundy and other berry colors, like cranberry. With my very pale and neutral skintone and medium brown hair, it works.
Your Streamline Your Style Course really changed my life. The knowledge i gained has given me direction and confidence moving forward in my style journey. And since we get access to the course for life, i can't wait to start up again in January for round 2. I can only imagine i will glean even more benefit from a second round. Can't wait!
I'm quite fond of burgundy .... and am an Autumn so it does look nice on me. I had several items already in my closet, and recently added a burgundy shirt. I tend to wear it with jeans, pink, camel/sand and grey (medium or dark). Looks great 😊
I’m a dark Winter and I had a top with a gold zip and I just carefully taped the fabric each side of the zip and then spray painted the zip black. Worked a treat. I don’t unzip it (it’s a decorative feature) and I hand wash the top to avoid the paint flaking off. But, it worked!
It has been my favourite colour for years and I must say although I have quite a collection of pieces gathered over the years…I’m enjoying adding more modern pieces to my already beautiful collection. I’ll be wearing it years to come as a deep autumn.
As a True Winter, I can wear it. However, my instinct is always to look for the cooler version. I, too, have a burgundy item-a blazer-with dark gold hardware (I forgot to return it on time) that isn't getting much usage. But the gold just screams at me. 🤣 Clearly, I need to rehome it. Great video, Sarah. Thanks!
As a soft summer, I feel I pull off the cooler burgundies best through makeup - either as a lip or smoked out liner. Another great video as always Sarah
Happy me I´m a deep. I´ve been knitting a cool burgundy sweater. Burgundy and dark navy is my favorite combination, just with a little white for contrast.
I bought a burgundy dress in the sales last year, mostly because I used to love wearing that colour. But then my hair was dark brown and my eyes a deep green, and now my eyes are blue-grey and my hair is mostly white. I wore it a few weeks ago, and along with it being an uncomfortable cut for wearing all day, the colour wasn't very flattering. I'm planning on passing it along to a friend or charity shop, and have learned my lesson! I still love the colour on winters, though!
Great video! I am a summer, muted and on the darker side and I love burgundy. Paired with all shades of denim blue it works for me. Also with a medium gray or navy it looks good on me. Just not too much contrast. Thanks so much! 😘
Same here! We’re going to a wedding in January and I’ll wear a navy blue dress and a burgundy handbag and burgundy heels. My season navy and burgundy, of course. (My husband is wearing a navy blue suit with a burgundy tie.)✨
I can remember having a very nice cranberry-colored sofa (I know, not burgundy) and a forest (?) green recliner years ago that I paid quite a bit for and frankly wish I had both of those back, lol, as both pieces were very well made, unlike so much of what is out there these days. It's definitely the time of year when I'm drawn to those colors anyway but know not to wear them as a warm spring kind of gal. I keep my "Color Me Beautiful" book, 1980's edition, (old school, like me), since I did get some valuable advice from it. I frankly prefer the styles from those times also. I still own a couple multicolored scarves and after all these years still get a compliment or two on them. While I keep a couple pairs of black slacks, I always, always prefer wearing my navy or brown ones.
Autumn season and I love burgundy but struggled at first to see how it fit into my palette. I think it has to lean more maroon and I pair it with camel, chocolate, gold, forest green, teal or salmon pink. Forest green and teal surprised me because I feel they could also border with winter.
Burgundy and creamy white/ivory/vanilla ❤ Classic combination, old but gold :) Burgundy with some kind of dusty rose is a very harmonic match. I like also the burgundy-green option, but I do not accept the combo burgundy-light icy blue, sorry :) (personal preference :) For me it feels like a Deep Autumn trying to wear a Light Summer`s color or vise versa - a Light Summer trying to wear Deep Autumn`s color) Oh, I forgot one of my favourites - a monochromatic option burgundy with burgundy - very classy and sophisticated :)
This is my favorite season to buy clothes ( Im not certain if I'm a deep winter or autumn) since for me in the burgundy, deep teals, blacks , dark greys and deep rose hues is where is at .
@@sarahryanthestylecoach That's what I think. When it comes to temperature I'm not sure since veeeery cool blues look kind of harsh on me and very warm colors make my eyes look opaque and my skin look dull
Bought two pieces from COS - a burgundy poplin dress and a burgundy velvet shirt. i was holidaying in the wine region Piedmonte Italy and so was inspired to buy these. I am a cool winter and I think the velvet looks better on me and a cherry colour lipstick helped I think.I paired the shirt with wide leg denim pants.
I’m Winter and burgundy is 100% one of my go-to colors in autumn. It’s one of the few I can really pull off that capture the season. I definitely have to avoid any hint of brown in my burgundy- I try to keep berry wine in mind. I’ve found that burgundy and black were terrible on me. In fact, they made me seriously doubt I was a Winter because I thought that should be a no-brainer, but it taught me the importance of contrast. I love burgundy with a light, powdery blue. And one I stumbled across late last year and have leaned into this year is burgundy with a clear light purple. It has the contrast of wearing burgundy with icy blue, but also some of the tonality that makes autumn cozy.
Another great video. Please could you do a video about Paintbox Springs as I’m really confused about my season, seem to suit Bright Spring and Bright Winter colours and being colour blind is making this challenging 😂.
Ooh the burgundy with the pale blue is gorgeous 😍 I'm SA and i have some slightly paler warmer 'burgundy' clothes that go fairly well with my camel coloured clothes, like you were saying. It's a pretty rich combo though, maybe not soothing for hot weather! Sarah you have probably considered this already but your zipper could possibly be painted silver?
I'm a fan of burgundy generally but I've realized that it's on the dark side when next to my face (I'm have medium -low contrast leaning warm, soft autumn.) so I'd prefer this dark rich color in small amounts or on the lower half of the body. I like to pair it with soft olive, sage, browns, yellow ochres, warm pinks, and soft navy.
I don't do "red", however in the wintertime I do like to wear a few burgundy items. As a deep winter I can pull it off with black, denim, navy, purple and teal (even though I am more mid range in my hair and skin coloring). Oddly, I can also wear camel or a caramel color as a neutral due to my golden surface tones, so I can borrow a few of the cool colors from the deep autumn pallet. Sarah, I appreciate you mentioning the challenge of wearing "hardware colors" that don't always work well within our wardrobes. I have found myself avoiding clothing with zippers that can't be easily changed.
As a True Autumn, a brown burgundy is best on me. Thanks for the suggestions of colour combinations - informative. Also, I was surprised at how the orange looked with burgundy.
Oooh pink and burgundy sound like a great color combination. I have a slightly warm leaning burgundy dress that I might try pairing with a lighter blue cardigan on top.
I’m a cool winter and love burgundy with navy and that ice blue you showed! Also, my mom is deep autumn and can wear it too, but with her own complementary colors.
I brought like 2 upper body pieces yes i absolutely love it as an Autumn i go on Burgundy leaning Maroon or Auburn a little of yellow there has to be, not the plumy one😊
Switch the zipper to silver? It would be a good up-cycle. I’ve changed buttons on many shirts for reasons you’re saying and it makes a huge difference.
Have you done a video that explains all the seasons and color categories of seasons? Would love to see it. If not. Would love if you could make a video explaining the basics for newbies. Thanks.
A video for someone trying to analyze their own personal style and interpret the colors/meaning of seasons to establish their own sense of personal style 😁@@sarahryanthestylecoach
I’m bright spring and I find it okay. I wear stronger autumn colours, including burgundy, when I’m low energy and want to stay in the background! I feel like they take away some vibrancy so I feel less visible but not so much that I look bad/sick? People expect redheads to wear autumn colours so that’s a factor to be fair! But I can’t manage soft autumn colours, they look off. Probably too close to soft summer which is my worst palette
When I was younger and diagnosed as a Deep Autumn, I wore a lot of burgundy, it was one of my dependable shades for coats and jackets, as long as on the slightly warmer side. Now, as I have gone lighter in hair tone and my eyes have gone lighter and warmer, I got diagnosed again - as a warm autumn. Most burgundy shades now look deathly on me, as does black and very deep aubergine, which I could wear before. I would need it a lot warmer now and not half so deep, going more towards a rust shade, if that makes sense at all?!
As a knitter I know that burgundy and green are the two colors which are less required, left on the shelves. It is explained that these colors make faces look older. What's your experience on it? I'm winter deep and somehow prefer navy to burgundy.
I wouldn’t agree with that entirely. I think if the colour is not in one’s palette, then yes, it can make a person look older. On others, it can look sensational! ☺️💕
I had my colors done awhile ago professionally & told I was an Autumn. I wasn’t told which variation I am. I’m guessing true Autumn & I love burgundy on me! I try & stay to the warmer browner side. Also I had a question for non red purple for Autumns. I’ve seen a periwinkle or darker blue/ purple that seems to be on the Autumn palette. Can you talk to this? I don’t see them on all the Autumn palettes. I don’t think I look good in the warm pinkish purples. Maybe it’s just me. Thank you! 🙏🏼💚🥰
nice video! i’m a light spring i avoid the “colors of the season” aka chocolate brown and burgundy. They do nothing for me. And i prefer that hand bags and nail color are in my color season too. It just looks way more harmonious. Burgundy does nothing for me and i don’t own any and don’t miss it🎉🎉🎉
I don't know whether I'm an autumn or a spring, but the sure thing is the beautiful berry burgundy is not for me! I'll make an attempt at a warmer shade but I struggle with finding the right red in general, so I'm not very optimistic 😅 So far I can only accept an orangier red
I think I’m a winter, so burgundy shouldn’t look good on me. However, I love the color and find I can wear it with a nice, deep lipstick color and a little more blush than usual.
I’m a bright spring and look terrible in burgundy. It is very aging on me. I used to own a few tops in a cool muted version of it but they have been given away. My husband is a warm autumn, so he looks great in it, but we haven’t picked up anything for him in that color yet.
I love burgundy, but it doesn’t suit me ( I am a bright spring), so open for suggestions how to wear it. I guess for me in combination of white/ivory. 😊 i have some peaces in my wardrobe, but don’t really wear them. Even the accessories.
As a warm autumn to deep autumn, burgundy & maroon look good on me. I've had some compliments in the past. However, I don't dye my hair with burgundy because it's more cool toned. I use chestnut or mahogany for my hair. My natural hair is black (Asian) but I've been dyeing it brown for several years now. Also, as I've started to age, I think black is now too severe. (I now understand why my former middle-aged teachers had brown hair. Lol) Cheers!
That sounds tricky. You would have to balance the particular shade of your hair with the color of burgundy. I've seen redheads wear burgundy and I thought it clashed badly. I'm afraid that even if it doesn't clash, it'll look too dark and draining on you if you wear it next to your face.
Why don't you replace the hardwear on your top to silver? It looks really good on you. I had an analysis this year, thought I was cool undertone/summer and ended up Spring bright. I'm still in denial and haven't figured out my wardrobe at all.
"Don't wear burgundy and black, especially if you're not a winter" Well but I'm a summer and it's not so bad... if you ignore the fact that it creates a shadow effect/vampire effect... And I am definitely not saying that because I am wearing burgundy and black right now 😂
Well, does it look good on you or not? You bought it because it looks good, didn't you? Every season can wear burgundy depending on the person's own coloring and the shade of burgundy. I'm a Bright Spring with very pale, neutral skintone and medium brown hair. Berry and wine colors are good for me, especially the richest tones. Better than a lot of browns, actually, since I'm not quite warm enough to wear the most yellow-y or orange-y browns (which I love, but they overwhelm me). Burgundy/wine/cranberry etc. lends warmth to my skintone, which is a plus since I'm so very porcelain pale.
@@edennis8578 not. I bought it from vinted, where the quality of photographs vary. I thought it was paler than it turned out to be. It’s too dark for me.
Changing the zipper pull to silver or gunmetal isn't that hard and might be enough. If you really love an item completely swapping the whole zip would also be a relatively easy fix
As a Bright Spring, I don’t like burgundy at all. I grew up wearing my (True Autumn) sister’s hand-me-downs which were often burgundy colored. I will not be buying it!
I usually look to you for classy recommendations but today I am very distracted by your robins egg nail color. I just don’t see that pairing. The burgundy looks pretty on you.
Have you tried the whole range? My daughter-in-law is a soft summer and it looks good on her. Burgundy ranges from dark and muted to rich and vibrant, with a myriad of shades in between.
@ that’s a good one. I think I have worn a burgundy top once that was soft and cool, so I can actually try! As long as it is not super dark it must be fine, thanks for the tip! I am a true summer.
As a warm spring, I wear the warmer "burgundy" as a dark neutral and away from my face. Bags, belts, shoes, etc.
Great idea Mary! Thanks for sharing ☺️💕
As an autumn I had a pair of burgundy pants but it never matched anything else that I had so I sold them. Now I stick with terracotta reds
Deep winter here🙋🏻♀️
Always happy to wear burgundy!
You are one of the lucky ones ☺️💕
As a True Summer I like cool burgundy with cool light pink, and cool dusty rose.
Oh that sounds perfect 👌🏼 💕☺️
Yeah, it really does depend on your undertone which burgundy will work, if at all. I tend to think that colors will work for most people, but keep an eye out for undertone. I am light blonde witha pink undertone to my fair skin. Tomato red isn’t great for me but a cool violet base burgundy does work.
Burgandy and Dark Brown is luscious!
Oh yes! Lovely combination ☺️💕
I’m a deep autumn and burgundy is definitely part of my wardrobe. I really love it!
I’d say it is beautiful on you! ☺️💕
I am a soft summer and have a lot of “burgundy” that leans to plum or berry. I love to wear it with sage green or light navy.
Oh lovely! Yes, soft summer can tolerate some depth and I can imagine it’s gorgeous with sage green! ☺️💕
this has given me some ideas for burgundy! thanks
I’m a summer too. I love a dark Smokey burgundy in the winter. I like it grayed and soft.
I'm a soft summer too and burgundy-berry was a game changer! It is my power colour now, replaced half of my wardrobe to it 😅
@ Awesome!
As a dark winter im adding this as a signature color

A brighter terracotta can be a good alternative to burgundy for Springs. A fiery, splashy version of burgundy. 😊

I'm cool summer and the available burgundy in Australia is definitely more autumn or winter. Pants or accessories only for me!
Thanks for sharing!!
I’m a bright spring so I can wear it an all the jewel toned
Lovely 💕☺️
What about burgundy with olive green for an autumn?
Ooh yeah! Sounds beautiful! ☺️💕
I was wondering the same thing.
I am a warm autumn, and the closest to burgundy I wear is a deep brick red. I just look sick if it's cool or even neutral
Nice! Thanks for sharing ☺️💕
Switch the zipper to silver? It would be a good up-cycle. I’ve changed buttons on many shirts for reasons you’re saying and it makes a huge difference.
Great idea ☺️💕
Have you done a video that explains all the seasons and color categories of seasons? Would love to see it. If not. Would love if you could make a video explaining the basics for newbies. Thanks.
You mean like a video training new colour analysts?
A video for someone trying to analyze their own personal style and interpret the colors/meaning of seasons to establish their own sense of personal style 😁@@sarahryanthestylecoach
Burgundy has always brought out redness and made old acne scars more visible on my face. I think I’m Light Summer 🩵
Yes any kind of redness will be highlighted when wearing a red tone ☺️💕
I am a Spring. The only way I would wear burgundy would be in accessories or a handbag.
That’s the way to do it ☺️💕
My school uniform was mid grey and burgunday. Not a combo i enjoy as a spring (i suspect bright or paintbox)
Ah yes! It seems school uniforms haunt a lot of people 😅
I don't know what my season is but I have always had burgandy in my closet. Tops and bottoms. I do burgany with greens and blues
Lovely! I guess it must suit you ☺️💕
I’m bright spring and I find it okay.
Yes it sounds like chroma is your dominant character so that makes sense ☺️💕
I like burgundy, but I do find the burgundies are leaning a bit warm . Which may look nice with cream, but brighter cool burgundy is more for me.
Yes you have to be careful to be on the right side of temperature that suits you ☺️💕
@sarahryanthestylecoach ❤️
That totally makes sense. That’s why an updated colour analysis is important when your natural colouring changes ☺️💕
Burgundy, a color of thousand faces here, but I think more at home with Autumn, Winter and Spring. 🌼 🍂 ❄️
Love that!
Burgundy does nothing for me and i don’t own any and don’t miss it🎉🎉🎉
Thanks for sharing!! ☺️💕
As a dark autumn I hoped I could wear it but I have not bought it yet
@@bethtaylor-k4n you can! Will look lovely I think😊😊
You can buy it with confidence! ☺️💕
I don't know whether I'm an autumn or a spring, but the sure thing is the beautiful berry burgundy is not for me! I'll make an attempt at a warmer shade but I struggle with finding the right red in general, so I'm not very optimistic 😅 So far I can only accept an orangier red
That’s still a lot of good information! ☺️💕
True summer here. I do like the color, but it looks very, very heavy on me. It drags my features down pretty bad.
I understand! Best to admire from afar ☺️💕
I think I’m a winter, so burgundy shouldn’t look good on me. However, I love the color and find I can wear it with a nice, deep lipstick color and a little more blush than usual.
As a winter I think it would be great on you as a cooler tone 💕☺️
I’m a bright spring and look terrible in burgundy. It is very aging on me. I used to own a few tops in a cool muted version of it but they have been given away. My husband is a warm autumn, so he looks great in it, but we haven’t picked up anything for him in that color yet.
Shopping trip for husband ☺️💕
I wonder if you could find a silver toned zipper and switch it out yourself on the machine?
Perhaps! 🤔 ☺️💕
I’m a bright spring and don’t really wear burgundy well.
Best to let this one come and go! ☺️💕
I love burgundy, but it doesn’t suit me ( I am a bright spring), so open for suggestions how to wear it. I guess for me in combination of white/ivory. 😊 i have some peaces in my wardrobe, but don’t really wear them. Even the accessories.
Best not invest in this trend and stay in palette ☺️💕
@sarahryanthestylecoach I am even selling my burgundy pieces at the moment.
Thanks Kitty. Yes black can become difficult for many people as they go through life ☺️💕
What are your thoughts on a strawberry blonde gal with fair skin wearing burgundy. I like it
It’s hard to tell without having analysed you myself ☺️💕
That sounds tricky. You would have to balance the particular shade of your hair with the color of burgundy. I've seen redheads wear burgundy and I thought it clashed badly. I'm afraid that even if it doesn't clash, it'll look too dark and draining on you if you wear it next to your face.
Why don't you replace the hardwear on your top to silver? It looks really good on you. I had an analysis this year, thought I was cool undertone/summer and ended up Spring bright. I'm still in denial and haven't figured out my wardrobe at all.
Too much like hard work in this case 😅💕
@@sarahryanthestylecoachThat's too bad. That color really is gorgeous on you.
Do you do a course on colour analysis x
Not at the moment 😉💕
I have loads of burgundy.
Such a beautiful colour! ☺️💕
"Don't wear burgundy and black, especially if you're not a winter"
Well but I'm a summer and it's not so bad... if you ignore the fact that it creates a shadow effect/vampire effect... And I am definitely not saying that because I am wearing burgundy and black right now 😂
You do you ☺️💕
I’m a light spring. I stay far far far away from burgundy. 😂😂😂😂
Good idea ☺️💕
I bought a deep burgundy jumper just before I realised that I’m not actually a winter. So it’s sat in my wardrobe.
Oh no! I hope there’s a way of making it work ☺️💕
Well, does it look good on you or not?
@@sarahryanthestylecoach I think I’ll have to let someone else have the joy of it 😄 it is a lovely jumper for a winter of some sort.
Changing the zipper pull to silver or gunmetal isn't that hard and might be enough. If you really love an item completely swapping the whole zip would also be a relatively easy fix
I’m not sure I really love it to start upcycling it… maybe ☺️💕
No, reminds me of my old school uniform! 😂
😂
@@sarahryanthestylecoachespecially combos with blue and grey 🫣
My granny used to say (I'm 63!!!), red & green should never be seen, except upon an Irish queen. :)
I never heard that ending before. We say ‘except on a TV screen!’ 😅💕
I heard as a child "except upon a beauty queen"!
As a Bright Spring, I don’t like burgundy at all. I grew up wearing my (True Autumn) sister’s hand-me-downs which were often burgundy colored. I will not be buying it!
I wore my sister’s hand me downs also. Luckily we are Winters ☺️💕
I love burgundy - unfortunately, it looks awful on me!
Oh dear 😅💕
I usually look to you for classy recommendations but today I am very distracted by your robins egg nail color. I just don’t see that pairing. The burgundy looks pretty on you.
I love it 💕☺️
Ooh I love burgundy, but I am a summer so not great🥲 is it true that we are prone to love colours that are not ours?😉
😅 I haven’t been that to be the case apart from everyone wanting to wear black! 😅💕
@ haha then it is just me🙈😂 but I don’t care about not wearing black anymore so that is a win😉😉
