I wasn't sure to put a "LIKE" on the video. Hate to hear about these things happening. How in HELL did the truck driver not understand - STOP, LOOK, LISTEN ???
Those private (otherwise unprotected) grade crossings are becoming more and more dangerous, just like the truck full of dirt and boulders that crossed in front of Amtrak on the old ATSF main in Missouri. In that case, there was a private crossing, set on a curve, so the errant truck driver didn't see the train until it was upon him.

Why do these Accidents Continue to happen Each Week around the Country ? Not enough Respect for the Size / Speed of Trains or Truck Driver Inattentiveness ?
What they need to do is redesign the roads where this high topping or top centering stops both ways. If this can't be done at certain crossings relocate it to somewhere you can.
Nice catch!! A little FYI, general rule is 20 feet either side of track from center of rail is considered RR property or right of way. It can vary from state to state also. 30 years of running trains on the WC/CN you talk with a lot of FRA inspectors and pick up a few usless bits along the way. Be safe trackside and keep the vids coming.
I’d say they take that lead off and replace it with another motor. Without ditch lights, they’re only allowed 20 mile an hour maximum over grade crossings.
My family is from right there. They clocked a train at 75mph on that stretch several years ago and made a big stink about it. My Uncle helped to get that speed limit put in after several accidents and my cousin’s dog getting hit.
WHY DO PEOPLE continue to try to beat moving trains? Do they not know that you will never win! People make me utterly sick on how complacent and utterly how ignorant they are !
Pisses me off that ppl that think they have authority to yell at a private citizen taking photos/video of a "scene". I thought they recoupled the cars just to obstruct your view of the accident scene?
I don’t see any problem with asking him to back up. He didn’t tell him to stop recording. The crossing is on private property. It could also be a crime scene. Asking him to move back to public property seems reasonable. Glad he didn’t make an issue over it.
Why Road and Railway Design Engineers can't think outside the box to grade crossings like this, all across the country - less pronounced, is beyond me. I get that each situation is different with regards to where to begin increasing the grade from adjacent roadways to meet the tracks but it most certainly can be done. If they have to start grading up at 1/8th of a mile, in all directions away from the tracks so no more tractor trailers get stuck, then so be it. It's not that hard.
An Amtrak train Severed a Dump Truck almost 2 years in Missouri and Truck Driver was talking with his wife on his Cell Phone at Moment of Impact and Death. 🤔🙏
Wow, I’m surprised it’s permissible to operate that loco with the smashed up handrails in front. I guess if forward egress is required by the crew you just jump off what’s left of the front deck. Yikes.
The problem is the stoopid crossings, built up high, everything gets stuck on them. They need to build the road up each side, 60 metres each side to create a LEVEL CROSSING.
No one seems to have noted that this crossing IS NOT a public crossing. It is a Private Crossing that the general public is generally not authorized to use except to access the property owner's property. Typically, these crossings do not have active crossing protection such as lights or gates.
I was notified of this accident yesterday, and thank god no lives were lost. 8011 took the impact like a champ, but I’m sure it’ll be stored for wreck repairs when it gets to the shops. I was reminded a little of an incident at took place at the Powell, TN RR crossings where an elderly lady crashed her car down the tracks. She was disoriented and was taken to the ER when emergency services arrived, and the car was towed away. I hope she’s alright and that her family was able to take care of insurance for the wrecked car. I was there when it happened and had permission to recorded the aftermath. This all took place in July 2023 and I haven’t seen anything like it sense.
I don’t know what it is with these trucks that get hit by trains. You see hardly any cars get hit, these trucks must think they don’t have to stop or look both ways.

Don't know about the crossing where the accident happened but the one below that you filmed only had one gate. Needs two to adequately ensure people don't try to beat the train. Did the truck stop or was he pulled too close to the track? JT filmed a car stopped over the line a few days ago.

Seeing that curve bet regular train freight 45mph. Intermodal 50-55mph.
I think around 50mph in this area
I’m curious as to the layout geographical. Is there also a curve leading up to the intersection of the roadway?
No, sir, it's a long, straight stretch. The driver turned directly in the path of the train.
That looks like a tuff tight turn to be able to clear that rail intersection. That corner needs a light for sure.
Ungated level grade crossing. Very dangerous. Wonder why there are no lights/crossing arms?
