This honestly implies imo that what’s truly holding Vader back in Canon is his mentality and his depressed state. He still has his potential, he’s just not able to tap into it because of a mental block

Vader spent nearly 2 decades trying to overthrow Palpatine when he can force choke across galactic distances. It was always his mentality.

Nah. Once Vader and Sidious wiped out the jedi, who was there to challenge Vader? Otoh, Luke kept running up against enemies and entities that challenged his abilities and deepened his connection to the Force. Luke kept growing, Vader was tied to the past, to his grief and rage.

Just due to Vader’s training and years of experience over his son gives him the edge over luke who even in ROTJ would have lost to Vader if Vader truly did have full intent to kill luke
Luke only won due to that confliction and the fact luke himself wasn’t trying to kill or hurt his father and when he did Vader still didn’t really do anything beyond trying to stay defensive which luke broke
Proving luke could beat his father if given a confrontation where Vader was purposely not trying to go all offensive which he would with anyone else but Luke
It’s just a matter of the fact Vader still was more capable than luke at that time

@@ATalesTruth- there’s a chart in the Star Wars Graphics book that shows anakin/Vader at 27,000 and Luke at like 20,000 or something. The Rebels Visual Guide Book also states that Vader has the highest count among any Jedi or sith
I'm more of a legends guy overall and don't usually dabble with canon stuff but I have to admit this issue is pretty darn interesting. It's so cool seeing Luke version of what vader did.

I must say I am rather intrigued by this realm that both Luke and Vader have now entered. It almost seems like this dark version of the world between worlds as we see Vader witnessing different points of the past and future during his journey yet it also appears to be something more considering Vader’s visions of the Jedi, Sidious and Padme as well as what Luke witnessed initially. I almost wonder if their interactions within that realm are actually the same one from different points in time. Then again I could also be completely wrong on that since I myself don’t have a full understanding of such a realm.
All in all good video good mate. I’m glad to see more of Charles Soule’s works connecting together. He always delivers something great.

I think a lot of people read into design cues that are mostly meant to make the image more dynamic. Vader's limbs are robotic, so they can't touch the living force and can't be remnants of the light side. They're blue in some panels because that's more visually dynamic. Instead, the blue butterfly that Vader keeps trying to kill in that issue is the last vestige of the light side. That issue was really beautiful, since the butterfly came back to life after he realized Luke was alive.

George Lucas himself has said that the children of Anakin have inherited his potential
No because Anakin brung the embodiments of the light and darkside to their knees with literal ease and Luke struggled immensely against the mother. The son and the daughter would casually go and put their mother back in prison everytime she escaped and look at what Anakin did to them. The father was also always insisting that Anakin would surpass him eventually and the father>the mother. Keep in mind this was Abeloth when she was weakened and she was still 12x more powerful than GM Luke who had achieved force oneness in this battle.
@@CelestQB yeah but it was already stated on Mortis that Anakins, Obi-Wan's and Ahsokas force powers were stronger than usual due to being on the planet.
Not to mention the son and daughter were obviously weaker than the mother.
@@bigmonke1449 yeah true but only the chosen one would’ve been able to do that and the son and daughter yes they are weaker than Abeloth but together they can imprison her so they are somewhat relative to her and Anakin no diffed them. I’m not so sure Luke could even beat the son.

Interesting idea here, what if the force ghost technique of the Jedi combined with whatever Palpatine did to cheat death allowed for other Sith spirits to return by their artefacts.
I feel that the Dark Side would be filled with hunger. Hunger for power. Not pain and suffering, per se.
pretty much going too deep in any emotion is the dark side of the force, but pain and suffering are the quickest ways to gain power

You should Cover Legends Comics because that timeline just has so so much more lore to it and I honestly think it’s just a better timeline however there are bits of canon that I enjoy.

I love The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi. The Rise of Skywalker sucks but so do The Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones. I’m not really dwelling on that at all.

Very esoteric, almost Swedenborgian; like right out of this book written in the early 1700's "Heaven and Hell." The book describes light and dark so similar to this. I wonder if the authors of the comic books read this book.
That's an interesting perspective but I thought it was more a metaphysical representation their internal conflicts. I remember Vader had the same silhouette in another comic when hes just meditating

Anakin and Luke are definitely on par, but I think Anakin is by a long shot stronger, especially when he was able to keep the Son and the Daughter at bay, the literally embodiments of respective sides of the force

Fun story. I love how the canon expands on the POWER of Vader, casually one shotting kirak infila (superior to windu and oneness amp obi wan) which nearly killed him at his beginning of his journey.

him doing it in the sequels makes no sense as he was a grandmaster by then and had conquered the

You don’t know anything about Luke’s journey between ROTJ and TFA because we haven’t been told. So everything you said was your own head canon and expectations which has nothing to do with reality. That’s your own fault, not the story teller’s.

I think the issue has more to do with the fact that he shouldn’t have been tricked by the Dark Side in the exact same way his mentors were. His mentors, the ones whose mistakes he directly learned from, and he fell into a bastardized version of the same trap that defeated them just a few decades earlier. While STILL having them able to directly speak to him, including Anakin, who fell to the Dark Side himself and could thus speak from experience more than anyone else. That’s what doesn’t work.
In short words, when you go through the nine Episodes, it’s basically the same story told twice. Only the second time is weird and inconsistent as f**k. Like, take King Arthur, one of the main inspirations behind Luke’s character, whom Rian Johnson himself referenced when talking about why he found it fit for Luke to face failure again in his old age. Yes, Arthur faced failure in his old age… but not in the same way his father had. He was better than his father in every possible way. He fully succeeded and ruled as a great King for many years, changing the world of the story for the better in countless ways, before doubt raised its head again. But Luke? At the point of his death, Luke’s greatest act remains his defeat of the Emperor. He never had any significant positive influence on any event after that. He went MIA looking for Jedi artifacts for a few years, then he repeated his mentors’ mistakes with Ben, went MIA again because of guilt, returned, briefly atoned and died. Thus really advancing no further than an Obi-Wan or a Yoda, and leaving the responsibility to bring about true change to Rey (as Kathleen Kennedy obviously intended😒).
So yes, there’s definitely a problem here guys.

One, the author has stated that this is what Vader perceives and is not reality. Two, his limbs being blue represent his cybernetics. Notice how it cuts off at the points that he lost those limbs. The blue butterflies are what represent the light side of the Force within Vader.

And in the original trilogy. Palpetine was convinced that Luke if properly trained could defeat the both of them. Palpatine thought that. Which is interesting because palpatine didnt fear Anakin at all to that degree. But Luke did.

@@KeyIssues I can say that as a legends fan I absolutely loved what Soule did with Momin. His unique backstory, design, philosophy and personality worked in such a unique way as a Sith who wanted to create as opposed to destroying as most Sith do.

Honestly while this interesting I kinda lost interest reading these comics when they trying to fit the Disney trilogy in it like Vader knows exegol exists and didn’t tell Luke and the alliance about it and seems to devalue the return of the Jedi.
You should read or listen to the Shadow of the Sith audiobook. Clears up that problem.

Is this Disney's canon? I've grown up with Star Wars but since Disney bought the rights, I've been losing interest mostly because of how much Disney tries to sell Star Wars. If Yoda was a real person, I think he would be offended by the number of times his face has shown up on random crap like tooth paste.
You know how much Yoda toys, cereal, candy, soap and toothpaste was sold before Disney acquired the rights? Are you dumb or just bitter and sad?

Plus, Disney aggressively pushed their Star Wars products out there to the point where you can't even visit a store without seeing at least one item with a Star Wars character one it. I'm also annoyed at the fact that Disney is rewriting some of the original cannon & with all the crap online I can't tell the difference.
I also spoke from Yoda's perspective in my comment, would Yoda, the humble Jedi master, really appreciate his likeness being used in the way that Disney has done so far?

@@mkguyadame4340 When episode one was new, I never saw the same level of merchandise come out from George Lucas compared to Disney's aggressive in your face approach. To see Yoda's face on a toy box or two can be fine if it's necessary like for example, an action figure featuring the character in question. Disney however as produced enough items with the same character on them that I would not be surprised if they could make "The Star Wars Super Market" with at least one isle dedicated to a single character. Lesser favorites can bundled. Short version of my point, Disney believes it's possible to get blood from stone & they don't respect the things they're trying to bleed.

@@true128 Nope. The speed force was created in 1994, and I was there when it happened, collecting comics (and getting married). It wasn't initially some alternate dimension, it was just a force, like gravity or electromagnetism. Gravity and electromagnetism aren't separate dimensions, are they? No. They aren't. So making the speed force a dimension of its own is stupid, and likewise, making the Force in Star Wars - which is also just a force intrinsic to that universe - its own dimension is equally stupid.
