Does anyone still live in an HOA community? It appears that they are mostly run by little dictators and embezzlers. No way should anyone allow someone to tell you how to live in a home or on property on which you pay the mortgage, homeowners insurance, property & school taxes, upkeep and maintenance on. Mostly, if a neighborhood wishes to ensure their community stays desirable to new homeowners, the homeowners should address the issues amongst each other and agree on how to do that without having "dues" and a dictator.

OH yes and while all these stories exist sadly they are becoming more and more common only bright note is various state governments are starting to take action to reign in HOA power. Seen estimates as much as 40% of all homes in the US are part of an HOA. Apparently as much as 80% of new developments in Florida are part of HOAs

You do realize that most of these stories creative writing essays, not all of them are bad , the old Del Webb over 55 developments have HOAs and not many complaints there

It is worse than that. Some HOAs are known for trying to force people to join and cause a lot of other problems.

There an HOA in my neighborhood and there like the most Chillis people ever. Like they never send complaints or anything about the house to the point you forget there is one and they decorate the neighborhood gate when Christmas come around

@@Shining_Nikki_Lover THis is what you wish for in an HOA. Hope it stays that way sadly as said before depends on the board and president which can change readily

pro-tips for dealing with an hoa, first immediately after hearing there is a hoa near you, invest heavily in both video AND audio recording devices, second never throw anything that might even possibly count as evidence

I would have let them finish the model home and said "Thank you"

Beware who you call "easily replaced".

When we were looking for a house. The Realtor kept trying to push us to places with an HOA. I finally told her to stop it. If some A-Hole tried to tell me what I can or can't do with MY property I didn't want to go to prison for shooting the A-Hole who tried to tell me what I can or can't do with MY property.
We ended up finding a house in a nonHOA.

went to wally world a few years ago and bought some work boots, the old ones I had were not worn out completely so didn't wear them for about 2 months but kept the receipt, the week I started wearing them they had a defect that the sole of the boot on one came loose and started flapping so took the receipt and tried to exchange, they said it was past exchange and they couldn't replace them. found the same boots in stock bought them came back next week and turned the damaged boots back with the receipt from the new ones and got my money back.more than one way.

@@nannettepolcastro4799 no never buy expensive work boots.they take at least a month to break in by that time your feet are killing you.when you get inexpensive boots they are thin enough that they don't need breaking in,the expensive boots last years and within a year are so disgusting you don't want to wear them, the cheap ones last a year and every year you get new boots generally your company will replace your work boots every year (they get a write off)if they don't last a year just use the trick to get new ones.

@@kimgabriele7857 I'm good! It's a bit hot here in Northern Illinois. I'm right on the border between Illinois and Wisconsin. We had some thunderstorms on and off today and mixed with the heat, it's been between 90-96° all week so it is nothing but a muggy humid mess out! Lol. I've got my air set at 65° and I love it, feeling cool inside when it's so hot out. How about you? How's the weather where you are?

Considering the normal procedure and political mess for a city/ town in the US to annex property it generally takes 2 -3 months at least and then the state also gets involved
