What you call "not intense" is "just right" for me! 😁 I am only now starting any kind of exercise at 54 yrs old with mild scoliosis with degenerative disc disease pain. I really like this routine--Thanks for posting it!
Glad to hear you like it! Yes we’re going to reword the titles to say beginner, moderate, and advanced because we realized that ‘difficult’ and ‘easy’ are subjective and can happen at any level of exercise! Be sure to check out our other workouts with a light blue banner - they’re all the beginner level ones :)
Yes these are only a small sample of exercises from the Schroth approach, a different option for warm-ups. The more popular Schroth exercises are more specific to postural alignment (see the video we made with the demonstration)
With that first exercise, are there other things we should be careful to do, besides what is already stated in the video? ( Please open an office in my state so I can learn from you in person! ;) )
I’ve been having trouble breathing lately can scoliosis cause breathing problems? It does feel like my shoulder blade crapes across my rib cage when I move my arm up and down. The breathing seems worse when walking or upon waking in morning
I find myself kind of crunching downward to take the weight into the other hand, I guess because my legs are short! Is that so bad? I'm working to not do that, at least not so much.
Why i cant i walk more then five mins in mild scoliosis why i have sit after every 3/5 mins and how can i do better breathing even in small walks i do fast breathing nowadays 😢 it never happened before guide me
Great question! Schroth walk challenges your ability to stay elongated and expanded through the ribcage while breaking down the gait (walking) cycle. There’s a lot going on during the movement, and that’s the point! Helps us to stay present as we walk - normally when we’re walking, we’re focused on our destination or music or talking to friends :)
The rice bag in this exercise is simply an lightly weighted object to use in these coordination exercises :) You can use handweights but it may be loud / painful if you drop them

The cues we gave in the video are the most important ones :) Which state are you located in?

Scoliosis can affect breathing function and shoulder blade functions as well

Is that for the single leg balance and passing the weight underneath? If so, try bringing your knee a little higher (but it is hard!).

We can't give medical advice over youtube, if you're noticing shortness of breath please see a medical professional in your area.
What's the point of the Schroth walk?

How heavy is that weight?
The ricebags are only about 1lb. However, feel free to use heavier handweights if you're looking for more of a challenge!
What size weights?
Start with light weights, maybe 1-2lbs for these because there are many overhead movements that are challenging for small shoulder muscles.
what is the point of the rice bag?
The rice bag in this exercise is simply an lightly weighted object to use in these coordination exercises :) You can use handweights but it may be loud / painful if you drop them
