I like the disk we used to use a 479 hay mower the pick up would rake the stalks and debris which all go thru the roller crimper and be windrowed then run chopper with hay head to mulch them up. Fuel and labor intensive but did a great job. We were sticklers for field prep!
Disc is doing a good job getting those stalks down into the soil where mother nature will break them down. Cheaper than mowing then discing. Good job Mike. Take advantage of the weather while you can they are calling for some snow this coming weekend
Nice video. Can’t believe how well that disc mulches everything. That older Deere has a distinctive roar under load. What’s the plan for this field next spring before beans. Will you seed straight in?
Thank you. The plan for next year is to chisel plow, then disk it, then put fertilizer down, then run the roller harrow over it to smooth things out and work in the fertilizer, then drill beans
HNY Mike & family. Yes sir, the old disc does a fine job. I was thinking how long it would’ve takin me with my uncles Ford 3600 & an appropriate size disc. 😆 Take care & stay safe. PS great drone footage & filming by the young fella. Cheers
Your disk does a great job on those stalks. Sure is different to be in the field in January. Makes me hope there won't be a foot of snow in the fields come May.
Happy New Year Mike, thanks for taking the time to put out the videos. I was surprised to see the disc tires were off the ground while you were working those fields up with how wet it is there, I thought it would penetrate more. But it looks like it did a nice job of knocking down and burying those stalks, that's the main thing. All the best in 2024!
Thank you. I thought the disk did a pretty good job considering the conditions. There were some really wet spots in the last field that the tires were moving and the disk sunk right in
You’d think with the duals on the 4250 would just play with that disk. I guess soil type really does play a factor in what you can use in front. Maybe if you chopped the stalks first? 😏 Just another reason to get that 7810
Happy new year Mike and family Seams alot of material left this year will it all breakdown before spring sowing? Good you can get on field it's soo wet here at the moment Take care 👍
Hey Andy. I disk them to break them up then I wanna get the field covered with manure before I chisel it that way the chisel works the manure into the soil as it works the ground. Thats why I disk the stalks, spend the off season covering the field with manure, then chisel it

The disc did a great job of chopping up those stalks. Great video Mike, Happy New Year. Mike Rush, your friend up in Liverpool.
Thank you. Happy New Year to you too
Little guy is getting big enough that you could set in the buddy seat and let him drive in the fields now.
He is getting close

It does a pretty good job. Field prep is a good thing to be a stickler about
Looks like a good job of chopping and mixing. Sometimes a couple extra horsepower makes a big difference.
It sure does

Thanks Scott. Good to get this wrapped up before the bad weather hits
Looks like he was having fun goofing around out there. I would too.
Yeah he is always good at exploring
disc does a nice job for the stalks being that long
Yes it does
I think if New York wasn’t a swamp from all the rain we had that tractor with duals has enough coconuts to pull that disk
On certain fields maybe
Happy new year Mike!
Thank you Clint. Happy New Year to you too
Nice that you were able to get in the field. My rain gauge had over 8 inches of rain for Dec. in Otsego county.
Wow that is a lot of rain
The next party should be another four wheel drive tractor 7810
That would be a good purchase

Thank you Jim. Happy New Year to you and your family as well. I appreciate the kind words
Take care Mike I know how hard of work farming is. Kudo’s to you in being a good dad as well.
Thank you Glen. I appreciate it
Hey mike. Keep a eye on auction sites for bat wing mowers. Alot of guys are mowing and baling stalks for bedding
Thanks Matt

We have a snow storm in the forecast for this weekend so I'm trying to make the push to get everything done. I know I'm on borrowed time

Great footage as always getting the hang of that new camera,?.. There seems to be more corn stalks this year did you cut it higher? Stay safe 🏴
Thank you. The camera is about the same as my other one just better quality footage. There is about the same amount of stalks as we usually get
