Working on making a pair of these - so fun! I did make one adjustment which was to slip stitch into the corner for each “red” row so that each beginning chain three is in a corner rather extending up from the corner of the snowflake. I found that it eliminates that obvious line where you start each row. ☺️🥰
This was so easy and beautiful! I added a white trim border of single crochets all the way around and another layer all the way around of slip stitch and chain one and it turned out beautiful. Thank you so much.
Yarn over and slip stitch are two of the most basic crochet terms. You need to start with the basics before you jump into a full project like this. Try watching this or any beginner stitch videos: ua-cam.com/video/kj6xndWmOck/v-deo.htmlsi=-8zNy1DJMyyJx6y9
I got to row 5 and noticed yours was curling too so I gave up it really should be lying flat, but jumping, without any chains, so far the next ch 2 space, curling can be expected 😮
Please don't give up due to a little curling. Remember, this is for a pillow cover. It will flatten out when the pillow is inserted. I have had countless people make this pattern and use it for other things (scarves and even a sweater for example). It works out just fine. (You might also be working the tension too tightly.) I hope you continue to work this. It really is a beautiful pattern.

I would really like this video a lot more if the camera was over your shoulder and actually showing what the steps were instead of the side of your hand. just my thoughts.

How much red yarn needed for one pillow
That detail is provided in the "description area" below the video. 8 ounces of the red and small amount of white.
