- How to install a mulch kit on a Kubota BX 54" mowing deck. This kit is to be installed on the RCK54-23BX deck. If you are purchasing this mulching kit you will need to order the 3 mulching blades separately. The mulch kit contains 3 baffles, bolts, nuts and washers. The instruction booklet is also included.

The only bummer about this is you can't (easily) go back to side discharge. I'm in Canada too, so some of you are saying upward of $900 for this mulching kit?!?!?!
I installed one, found that over time it held grass and moisture in the area it closes off. Deck was rusting out. Turned into a piece of junk.
Just a suggestion. For future vids a tripod would free up both hands.
What is the part number for a 60” mower deck?
My local Kubota dealer just quoted me $520 for the parts needed. Insane! I'll just build it myself...
Wow, Steve $520 is indeed insanely expensive. I am thinking, if there are already pre-drilled holes, installation should be not an issue.

How well does it mulch? Any clumping or strips of uncut grass?
Hi having recently purchased my BX2380 54 inch deck with a mulch kit, I find that when cutting the grass it is leaving a line of cut grass on the left side of the deck. Is anyone else having this issue, local dealer is very dissapointing to deal with, once they sold the tractor they offer little support. thanks ed
Ed Ferro, I am surprised by your experience with the local dealer. I am informed by researched information that local dealers are preferred over box office stores like ACE, Home Depot and Lowes, As someone in market a Kubota ZT mower, your experience has provided me a second thought.
Bought this from local dealer here in New Brunswick Canada - $575 for the kit and another $125 for the blades (not included in the kit). $700!!! Kubota knows that this is a custom fit and no one else really builds them, which lets them jack the price sky high. Sad. Still probably cheaper than the green dealer down the road...

This is a custom kit supplied by Kubota
Why do that to a good mower deck? lol
After seeing this video I'm glad I didn't get the "mulching" kit for my 60" deck, no way in hell would I drill holes in a mower deck to add mulching capability, especially since there's no quick way to go back to side discharging without having to remove that baffle crap. For what Kubota charges for a mower deck for these tractors you'd think they'd have a far better mulching kit solution.
Don't use a chrome socket on an impact gun.
Why would you bother even buying a mower with pressed steel deck. Kubota make fabulous mowers with fabricated decks, so it's worth spending more to get more. End of the argument!
Why would you bother even buying a 2nd machine to mow just because the bx series only offers a stamped deck? There's absolutely nothing wrong with having one. If you are abusing your equipment to the point where a stamped deck isn't enough, the bx series is probably not the right platform for you anyway.
@@jensalan And that's the whole point - buy the right mower the first time around.Nobody said anything about buying a second mower,so obviously, replying 6 months after I made the comment, seems you maybe a little slow. As I said, you pay a bit more, you get a lot more with a fabricated deck, bearing in mind, a fabricated deck is for business people who want a professional mower, the BX deck is for the domestic market & even Kubota will tell you that......simple really.

A BX series subcompact tractor is more than just a mower. You say you pay a bit more to get a lot more, but even a base model BX series tractor costs more than many commercial mowers that have fabricated decks like you say. Nobody buys a BX to use as a commercial mower because of course there are better options. Yes, kubota zero turns have heavier duty decks, but they're made to be in an environment where they'll be run every day by employees that aren't nearly as careful. But again you can't get those decks on this tractor. Few buy a BX just for a mower. They buy one machine to do everything; loader, 3pt attachments etc. It's simple, really.
