Scientists use IVF to save endangered northern white rhinos

- The world’s most endangered large mammal could be making a comeback from the brink of extinction in Kenya.
More than a decade of research to save the northern white rhino is paying off.
Scientists are using in-vitro fertilisation, a procedure that has never been tried before on the animal.
Al Jazeera's Catherine Soi reports from the Ol Pejeta Conservancy in central Kenya.

Surly all you have to do to protect the endangered wildlife is for the world to pay a tax to the tribes surrounding the animals. No wildlife = no money.

I'm sire it's very stressful for them and would have to be sedated which can in itself kill the animal. Just easier to have 24/7 security bc they'll have to be there anyways so it's unneeded stress on the rhinos.
This has been done for some rhinos, but these two are special. There are different species of rhinos, and this is the *Northern White Rhino* they're talking about, with only 2 females and no males left alive. They mention at 1:17 that they're planning to implant the embryo in a female _Southern_ White Rhino. It's a related species but still not exactly the same, so it's the best option they have even if it's not ideal. The Southern White Rhino is not extinct, although still considered "Near Threatened" on the conservation status scale.

Don't worry bout stupid rhino's---concentrate on gouging African economies with cheap Russian Oil and gas to drive your economies to another level, how hard is it to learn how to benefit from conflicts and wars in Europe, there's nothing to feel ashamed about doing war business, that you didn't start.
