      @@natk4017 SERIOUSLY! I’m 24 and I literally just learned within the week (think of how long period cups have been around for) that you can accidentally suction the cup to your cervix, and women have been hospitalized because of this😰🤬🫢🫢

  • @blackanime22
    @blackanime22 Рік тому +299

    These companies seriously need to be putting disclaimers on their packaging stating how you can suction the cup to your cervix and possibly be hospitalized!!!!! The fact that they aren’t doing so is extremely negligent 🤬🤬🤬 Be careful fellow ladies!😧

    • @jfm14
      @jfm14 Рік тому +24

      I wouldn't call it negligent. The idea that this is a common hazard of menstrual cups is a myth. It's borderline impossible with a well-fitting cup and extremely rare with an improperly fitting one. There's a reason why most companies carry multiple sizes. On the rare occasion a cup does become suctioned to the cervix, extreme pain or damage is caused by users (or even well-intentioned, but ignorant medical professionals) ignoring instructions and ripping it straight out without releasing the pressure first.

    • @blackmooncultx9552
      @blackmooncultx9552 Рік тому +17

      Actually, it is kind of negligent not to put a warning, especially if the company knows there is a potential risk of injury.

      @felixthecat9787 Рік тому +11

      @@jfm14 same could be said about toxic shock syndrome, but health hazards are still health hazards.
      It’s not just about being potentially hospitalized, plenty people have mentioned it’s extremely painful which can cause the user mental distress even if they do remove it without risking their health. At best, you have someone now having their menstrual pain and stress doubled by a horrible experience, and at worst an entire already exhausting week completely deprived of joy because now they have been hospitalized, are likely in severe pain, and will have to worry about medical bills if it’s in relation to American health care.
      A product should be obligated to tell you how to avoid accidents like that, and that it can happen in the first place. Doesn’t matter if it’s unlikely to cause hospitalization, kids toys would quickly get recalled if it could hurt a child, so I don’t see why precautions like that would be absurd especially when this isn’t a toy its a health tool.

      @@Dojan5 Possibly. It depends on how low or high your cervix is during mensuration. You can check yourself everyday, using your finger, to see how your cervix sits for you. There are some UA-cam tutorials on this. There are many different cups to choose from. Longer cups with long stems for a high cervix or in my case, I need to use one like the FemmyCycle Low Cervix “short” cup, since my cervix drops low. But, I have found that I do even better with a disc instead of a cup, after the first two days of my cycle. The Hello Disc seems to be a perfect fit for me, all around. Thank you for talking about high cervixes. I was doing a ton of research almost a decade ago when switching off disposable period products and got frustrated that so much attention was being paid to low cervix options, which I knew I didn't have. And I got even more frustrated when I realized that I had a high cervix, started searching specifically for options for that, and found next to nothing.
    I think there is or was a overall feeling in the community that high cervixes are not a problem, I suppose because we have "plenty of room", unlike low cervixes. And no one wants to admit they lost their cup in their body or their fingers were too short to properly grasp the cup, especially when most of their community is telling them that their issues were not pressing issues.
    I'm so glad that there are more people talking about it and more options for more bodies.

    Periods cups also DO NOT WORK for women with low cervixes. If your cervix is too low the cup will not fit over the cervix without being knocked out of the vaginal canal.

    My cervix likes to migrate a lot so I would cut the stem off for when it sat low. And if it was ever too high for me to reach you can make it come down by bearing down your muscles. 🤷🏽‍♀️

    Can you make an example of what will happen when you have a tilted cervix?
    Mine is coming very close to the side so the cup never works, it always drips down the side and the disc doesn’t fit under the cervix so it’s just free fall flow.
    I sometimes have that problem with tampons and I recently been having contact dermatitis from pads. Every month an obstacle race

    I wonder if the iluma high? Will work
    I got the diva cup one day for heavy flow
    Long story short it got stuck and suctioned. I freaked out. Took me all the patience in the world to get it off gently.
    I tried again but that time was careful. I still didn’t like it.
    Turns out I’m not alone and my cervix wasn’t meant for that type.
    I got dysplasia of the cervix too so it’s a tough one to think of what would work. But that giant disc one looked so promising.
    Imma look into it.
    Now I’m subscribed.
    I’m 30 but would love to stay in touch with all the new tech b

    I have a low cervix. I have a Diva Cup 1 and had to cut as much of the stem off as possible so it wouldn’t poke me. I’m looking to replace it as soon as it gets iffy/I lose it, but I see a lot more advertised to those with high cervixes, but I may just be looking in the wrong place.

      I would recommend the saalt cup! I had that issue with the Diva 1 and the saalt cup is shaped to have more volume while being a little shorter so I don’t have that poking problem. Hope this helps!

    I have a high cervix I think and I use a lily cup, untrimmed, and I have still had it float up and had to wait for it to fill and the weight to pull it down. I have also had issues with leaking with discs. I usually use period underwear lately because my periods have been painful as of late, and I have PMDD.

    My cervix is so high lil lady’s in outer space. 😂😂 and I have insanely heavy periods. It took me a few tries to find a cup that worked for me. I’m currently using xo flo large size, but am looking for something with a longer stem bc there are still days where my cup is really difficult to reach bc my cervix is so high. 😂
