Avoid This Singles Strategy Mistake (Win More Tennis Matches)
1. If you’re going to hit cross court, you need to cross the body line of your opponent
2. If you don’t think you can cross the body line, then hit down the line and recover to the other side of the court

The Wardlaw Directionals at work!
That looks way too familiar along with getting a shortish slice moderately cross court. People downplay drilling by hitting cross court backhands these days but this is why you have to do it.
Wolfe's return was weak in the sense that it was not well timed. It was struck flat & fast, toward the middle slightly left but short., whilst his opponent didn't even have to move... What was needed was a HEAVY ball, think Nadal, with height & topspin.. whether up the middle or back to the corner. If you watch Sinner, when pushed out of position, he ALWAYS recovers with a deep heavy neutralising ball up the MIDDLE because the opponent is then faced with having to reset to the middle, decide between getting into position for either a backhand or a forehand and also to contemplate an angle to continue his dominance robbing him of response time while Sinner gains time . Rublev, for example erroniously ...in contrast, when pushed out of position, will continue to blast flat balls into the opposite corner when has NO time & therefore NO right to, because thats NOT how you neutralise an offensive ball... so, when shoved out of position,... defend to neutralise, HEAVY UP THE MIDDLE, return to neutral to reset, work to get a short ball which is your opportunity to then create an attacking ball...I'm sure JJ knows this too.
Love it John. Thanks for your thoughts!
