    *** About Gooseberry Bridge Farm ***
    Gooseberry Bridge Farm is located in the Ozark Mountains of Southwest Missouri. We moved from the typical “house at the end of a cul-de-sac in a subdivision” in 2016 to our little 11.6 acre farm and haven’t looked back!
    We are a multi-generation homestead raising our 6 children, and strive to provide our kids with rich experiences and a strong work ethic that will benefit them through their lives.
    In addition to producing and preserving as much of our own foods as possible, we also operate a you-pick flower farm with different varieties of flowers throughout the year. Our goal is to be as self sufficient as possible, within the boundaries of what is realistic in today’s world.
    Our intention is to post 2 new videos a week, but first and foremost we are operating an actual operating homestead with goats, sheep, chickens, ducks, rabbits, pigs, quail, fruits, vegetables, flowers, and more. Our intention is to make our videos relevant, meaningful, and to depict an accurate portrayal of our homestead journey - and hopefully educate folks a little bit along the way.

    One of the finest DIY greenhouses on UA-cam. I'm a designer and my wife is an engineer. Two thumbs up! 👍👍

    The simple simplicity of this build has earned you a gold star.
    I built a hoop house last year that seemed to be the cat’s meow but old man winter played havoc on it.
    Your using 4x4’s concreted was key is structural integrity.
    Bracing certainly helps but they need a stronger sub structure than my design.
    Your overall design is without a doubt one to refer to for a quality build.
    I’m having to start over and I’m using your creativity in my new project.
    Thanks…

      Thanks for the kind words! We have had good luck with this design. The only place it doesn’t do great is with wet snow. It can cause the hoops to shift after several inches, so we have to knock snow off.

    What a fabulous greenhouse, thank you for sharing the whole process as well as the tips and tricks too like the rain diversion over the windows and the picket boards driven into the ground around the inside perimeter. It's these details that really help DIYers learn from each other!

    Super nice! You must not get a lot of snow load though 😮

      We do not. 1-2 times a year we get snow that sticks to it And when we do we go out and knock it off every 3-4” ..

    This is a very nicely designed and executed greenhouse IMHO. My only comment is that if you experience high winds in your area, it would seem prudent to secure the cattle panels a bit better. I would wrap those plumbing straps completely around the 2x6 that the panels rest on and attach with a couple of wood screws. I would also suggest perhaps two more supports ( in addition to the one already in place) beneath the cattle panels to withstand flexing, if your winds come out of the east or west. Thanks for sharing your video.

      Thanks for your thoughts! Our older greenhouse (same design) has been in use 4 years now - both of them have stood up to storms woth 60-70mph winds with no damage - so far so good! wet snow is a bigger issue, when we have it, they can only hold 4-5inches of wet snow before they start to buckle a bit and extra supports would help with that but since we so rarely get that kind of snow we just go out and remove it before it gets to that point.

    I very much enjoyed watching your video. I am planning currently my own greenhouses build project for this spring. You gave me some really good ideas on what I would like to do myself. Thank you...

    Question? How did the plastic last on the cattle pen fence ..rips or chaffing ❤

    • @gooseberrybridgefarm
      @gooseberrybridgefarm  5 місяців тому +1

      Our original cattle panel greenhouses have 4 year old plastic - besides some issues from cat claws and hail damage there are no holes from the panels - we do cover any sharp edges that are in contact with the plastic with foam pipe insulation or electrical tape as needed

    isnt ptl just treated with copper these days?

    • @gooseberrybridgefarm
      @gooseberrybridgefarm  28 днів тому

      Actually there are several chemicals used to protect the wood from insects and rot. I wouldn’t mind as bad in other parts of my property, but since this is less than 10’ uphill of my garden, it was worth paying a little extra for Cedar. Handily there are several individually opened sawmills in the area so it wasn’t much more expensive than pressure treated pine from the box stores!

    Can you tell me the height of the walls and the width and length of greenhouse ??? Thank you 😊

    • @gooseberrybridgefarm
      @gooseberrybridgefarm  4 місяці тому

      The greenhouse is 12x30ft and the height of the walls is based off our needs and the elevation change in the spot where the greenhouse is located - they’re all different, depending on where you measure.

    Why would you put the windows in like that? if it rains the water is gonna just come right into the greenhouse and flood it

    • @gooseberrybridgefarm
      @gooseberrybridgefarm  3 місяці тому

      That has never happened .. the windows are open all summer the rain doesn’t come in .. the only time we have issues with water is when it comes up through the ground

    We need plans

    • @gooseberrybridgefarm
      @gooseberrybridgefarm  2 місяці тому

      plans for this greenhouse are individual to your land, one of the great things about it is that you can customize measurements so that you do not need to have a completely level spot.
