  • Hey everyone, My name is Carson Sleep and I am a 6th generation rancher on the Sleep Ranch.
Our ranch is located in the Black Hills of South Dakota where my family settled and started ranching in 1883. I started this channel to show how a working ranch operates and to document our everyday activities. My goal is to have fun and to bridge part of the ever growing gap between American Beef producers and consumers.
Join me as I learn more about raising cattle, caring for the land and working/operating equipment!

Just a little FYI for your followers....the more you guys comment and/or hit the 'like' button on other people's comments, it helps kick-start the algorithm to distribute the channel into more news feeds and the channel will grow faster. A bunch of us did that with Sonne Farm's channel last year and it took off like a shot. Carson does a great editing job and this channel deserves to be more widely distributed 🙂

Hello Deb! We just recently found Carson at Sleep Ranch! Read your comment and just wanted to thank you for sharing this information! Also, thank you for supporting agriculture advocacy! We are also a family farm made up of 5 girls plus Mom and Dad! I am a fourteen year old girl and I am the voice behind our channel! We are learning a lot through this journey of farming, homesteading, and YouTubing! Blessings to you!

I’ll never understand why people don’t see the value of the American rancher. To me, you are the epitome of the American dream. I worked with cattle and sheep in Ag school, and through my instructors I gained huge respect for ranchers. It’s a 24/7 job no breaks, and you do what you do for the love of the land, and the animals God gave to you as caretakers. If people weren’t so far removed from reality they might understand better, and that’s why I think it’s so valuable for channels like yours to inform and educate the “masses” (keeping things respectful 😉).

You made that look easy! But, for those that have never done this, I can assure you, it is anything BUT easy to do! That one crazy cow that took off then led to the others thinking they needed to do the same. Every single "animal" in this scenario, including the human animals, has their own mind. Each one acts and reacts and it takes a quiet demeanor to get something this tricky to end as it did. GREAT job you guys!

Oh, the memories this brings back! Back in the '60's we didn't have to chase cows through the trees east of Buffalo Gap, but there were plenty of draws and hazards going down to the Cheyenne river bottoms, and even if we'd had 'em, there is no 4-wheeler that could get down there and back. Even today, my cousins who live out there still use horses out of necessity. I'm friends with Cole and Brian Sonne (Sonne Farms channel), and they're able to use their gators back east on the flatlands. Watching Brian getting bounced around on that thing though, I'm still not sure that it's any easier on the spine ;-) Happy New Year to you and your lovely family, Carson, and thank you for another stellar video!

Visited the Black Hills for the first time this last September and what beautiful country it is. I just turned 70 and I don't know why it took me so long to come and see the Black Hills and the surrounding area. I watch Sonne Farms and love the antics of Brain and Cole. If I get the chance I'll be coming back to the Black Hills and area again.

Because the whistles they use to control the dogs would be great to cut off the cows escapes.
