❤🎉 That mama didn't realize that you were saving her baby, thank you Carson for being such a good steward and educating us on the ranching life!! 🐄❤️😊🇺🇲 Thanks for your videos and blessings to your sweet family!! ❤️🙏😁🐄🐎😊
Great mother. Concerned but not aggressive. As always really enjoy your videos. Hope your calves bring top price. Your cattle price lots good our corn and bean price was much better at harvest. That is farming and ranching. Next year will be much better. God Bless. Our Savior Has Risen
Cattle prices are really good right now…. Steers looking great….New baby probably ripped his cord falling through the barb wire…. Super nice calves….Loving the sunshine….Beautiful day in the Dakotas….
I totally understand the culling out some steers that stick out among a group of others it affects the price. I use to go to the sales all the time . They all looked good.
Those reds really stand out in all the black hided calves.. And the steers look really nice, with the market being up its probably smart decision to let the feeders grow them out and take the $$ now.
Lovely video. So nice to see the blue skies. We had sunshine today and 6ºC here today. We have had a lot of heavy rains. Everything is looking good. Mamma calve sure didn't like you messing with her baby. Hi to Damaris and family
Hey Carson as always awesome video. 1 question when do you steer them are cut or banded ?. You are truly blessed and may God bless you and your faimly.
@@sleepranch thank you appreciate you sharing I’m hoping to eventually get another property with 20 acres and then get a half dozen calf’s or so I enjoy beef 🥩 products
I have always felt bad for cattlemen who have short-tailed and boob-eared cattle cut out at the sale barn. That said, when I buy steers to fatten for the butcher market, I look for those very ones to buy. As I say to people, I don't eat that part anyway.
Depending what region of the country you're in . In the south you'll get lots of eared cattle ( Brahma ) influenced. A good part of a sale last week had many tiger striped cattle Bradford's, Brangus . As well as some stockyards dock you if you're cattle aren't all black . Had a mix of Balancer steers and Braunvieh/Herefords and took a small payout for the off color ones.
Good luck selling your steers Sleep Ranch

Nice marketing. You will have a real nice load lot for the sale. They look good. Frost bite ears taste just as good.
Thanks! They do taste just as good haha
Really enjoy watching Carson. Cow/Calf operation here as well. Was wondering if you had contact info? Had two questions. Thanks in advance
Looking good 😊
Nice lookin steers 😊❤
Thanks Kathy!
Hey Carson as always awesome video. 1 question when do you steer them are cut or banded ?. You are truly blessed and may God bless you and your faimly.
Thanks Eric! We cut them at branding, which we’ll be doing here in the next couple weeks with our new calves!
With the sale of those steers, is that the ranches pay for the year or are you able sell more later.
Just depends. Some people keep the smaller to sell later. Some people will also sell the heifers later and some will keep them for brood cows.
I know this is part of life but I'm glad you aren't mean to your cattle. Sometimes I can't watch other cattlemen.....Hey have a beautiful Easter.
It’s definitely our main source of income each year but we also sell our cull cows and we cull through our heifers in the summer and sell them!
So how many head of cattle went to the sale barn? Just curious but how many head of cattle do you have now? Including calves.
❤🐃❤️🐃❤️🐃❤️
Hope your calves sold good. Do you still have a bunch of turkeys this year? I dont recall a video this year
We do have a bunch! I will have to go up and get a video of them!
when did your young bulls become steers?,,, did I miss that vid?.... I'd like to see what you do with colorado oysters
Just about a year ago! We’ll be branding and castrating real soon so those videos will be coming!
Just curious what's the price for one of your cow you sent to sale barn at 900 lbs or so thanks for sharing long time follower
Thanks for watching! We got 2.57/lb for the 900 weights which is pretty good
@@sleepranch thank you appreciate you sharing I’m hoping to eventually get another property with 20 acres and then get a half dozen calf’s or so I enjoy beef 🥩 products
I hope u get a good payday for the ranch
Thanks Bill!

Exactly!
Great time to have good black 800 lbs to sell. Probably the highest gross $ per head your dad has every seen.
It is the highest he’s ever seen, we’re very grateful!
What does the length of a cows ears have to do with anything?
Absolutely nothing but buyers will dock you on price pretty hard because of it. They just use it as an excuse to get a deal

they don't look that big on camera. What did they average for weight?
He said around 900 lbs since weaning at 700 lbs. might be the camera angle.
They weighed 800-900
Why AI your heifers, then use a bull on the cows. Could it be the size and weight the bull produces?
😊🙏🏼
Yep that’s one reason! It’s also just a cost effective way to improve our genetics by just Aiing part of our herd
Thank you. I really enjoy your videos!!!

Haha I’ll let you know!
What ever happened with your Mexican helper?
He probably didn't pay him.
I think I'm as confused as the cattle are.
